Bedroom is 36 sqm and it's almost square with a 5.5m x 6.5m dimension. This makes me have a hard time to decide how I'll position my gears and which side :(

I'd like to add, i got my AV rack super cheap from Mandaue Foam in Ortigas ext. 3,800 kapag cash then 4,200 6 months 0%. Mas mura pa sa cdr-king. I'm really a cheapskate ;D

Thanks sir streetsmart :) the polyglass line is the entry level set focal has after the access. it has focal's signature crispy highs but i find the midbass just ok. not really that impressive. some of my friends in kac describe the sound as aggressive. the highs can be contained though. i think as a standard, most polyglass seps have their passives set on a -3db setting for easier listening.

good match up sa setup mo. good thing you have dual sub setup to fill your large size room. malaki ba talaga advantage pag dalawa sub mo even for a small room?

Disadvantages are:

* Low end extension stays the same. No effect on it.

If multiple Subs, Can I match a fabricated Sub with a branded Sub? What would be the concequences if subs are not identical? I was having the idea of a DIY sub for the 2nd sub setup
The subs don't have to be identical but they should be similar in specs.

Wide soundstage. Was very balanced. Highs are extended and smooth plus you will never run out of tight bass. When the opportunity came to change my speakers, I had to look at more mainstream brands first. I researched, auditioned and even sought advice from Master Idols like StageA. Coincidentally, based on my cheap-ass budget, things seem pointed to the Image T6 which was the newer version of the T65. It's slimmer than it's predecessor, more aesthetically pleasing to look at while retaining all the strengths of the T65. So that made me decide to get it. Thus, the updates in Page 1 :)

Panalo Master Paul yung Musiland 01 + NAD 326BEE combo. No regrets in getting it. Kagabi ko pa ito pinapakailaman and hanggang ngayong umaga naka ngiti pa rin ako by the difference it has vs just using an avr or using a regular dvdp + the integ. amp.
I like the equalizer controls of the Musiland software that was included. Champion! I'm hoping to post more detailed reviews about it ;)

Using a laptop, straight from the 3.5mm jack plugged into a NAD 326BEE, the sound was ok in terms of clarity. Using the Musiland 03 via USB on the same int. amp the sound immediately became a lot livelier. Night and day difference. The sound was thicker and expressed more details. Those instruments at the background of the music was more audible. It me realize how the 1st setup was too laid back. Master Ivan explained that it's natural for a 3.5mm jack to sound that way because it only has a low output.
The next test was to use an entry level CDP(NAD 515BEE) and the same amp. The details you would hear coming from Musiland 03 are still more pronounced than using the cdp. Master Ivan's advice was, the laptop can become a good cdp because it can produce less jitter and can read files much faster than a regular cdp. Plus another advantage was it can play various music formats. So this made me think about it--- getting an external dac will save me more money compared to getting an entry level cdp.
Why did I end up with the 01 instead of the 03? I find the 01 leaning more towards the warmer side which was my sound preference. Now at home, I tried the dvdp + int. amp vs Musiland 01 + int. amp. I guess you know which one won. It's a no contest. ;D
So if you'd like to experience hifi sound at a bargain price, the Musiland Monitor DACs are highly recommended :)

the laptop can become a good cdp because it can produce less jitter and can read files much faster than a regular cdp. Plus another advantage was it can play various music formats. So this made me think about it--- getting an external dac will save me more money compared to getting an entry level cdp.
It's not really lower jitter, but the negative effects of jitter can be minimized with proper clock recovery by using the right gear. Read errors can also be corrected in a PC setup, as the data is normally read ahead of playback (instead of being read from the media in real-time, as with most dedicated players). This tends to make PCs more forgiving of less than perfect media.
The greatest advantage of a PC-based playback system is format and storage flexibility, which of course comes at the expense of convenience. Kanya kanya lang yan. :)

You're welcome, Master Gerard. Basta mapagana mo ng maayos yung WASAPI Exclusive mode or ASIO for sure mas maganda pa yan kesa dun sa nademo mo sa store.
We're presently finding a way to setup yung ASIO sa PC ni Rex. Baka over the PC Card slot na lang, hindi pa kasi USB 2.0 yung lappy.
Wasapi(Musiland) yung pinipili ko Master. Sinunod ko ang very thorough guide niyo na kasama sa CD ;)

Don Master Nelson, actually that's the exact difference I noticed vs playing a cd using a regular dvdp. Galing. wider soundstage even the sweet spot was surprisingly everywhere ;D. Parang wala ako mapintas sa audio ko ngayon. :D

May inaabangan kami ni idol Raz sa gears mo master. Kapag lumabas na daw yung CA 850C, ipaparaffle mo daw yang 840C mo sa mga less fortunate people gaya namin :)

Cambridge Audio Azur 550A
Let me start with the build and heft of the 550A. Dimension wise, it will take more space than the NAD. Lifting this amp would give you a good work out. It's really heavy and build quality wise, I like the materials used on the face because it's using an aluminum trim unlike in NAD where the face is kinda like plastic. Features-wise, the CAP5 is nice and helpful. These actually alerted me when my Onkyo AVR were still plugged into my T6. Plus this amp has an option to go Speaker A & B.
How does it sound?
I find the CA550A a bit laid back compared to the C326BEE. The first time I listened to these amps were in 5th Avenue paired with an MS Mezzo 2. They were very forward, agressive and dynamic. But this time around, paired with my T6, it was a bit relaxed. What remained imposing was it's midrange voice. It creates an image where it seems the background instruments are separated from the singer. Was this because the 550A isn't powering my T6 enough juice? Or that forward sound I listened to from 5th Ave. was basically a trait of the Mezzo?
I tried my other set of speakers, a Mission M31i. These speakers of mine were notoriously known not to produce smooth highs using my Onkyo AVR. But I actually liked the Mission sound mainly because it produces a really warm sound which tickles my ears just fine. Now powered by the 550a, I'm surprised that those dome tweets has some capability. I listened to some familiar tunes, the sound definitely had strength which is very evident on the vocals but comparing these to my T6, it lacks the details of the latter. Can't blame my cheap-ass Mission M31i.

NAD C326BEE
I initially was eyeing the more expensive C356BEE DAC because of the features it has. It was rated at 80wpc compared to the 326 which is only 50wpc and it has a built-in DAC. When I auditioned both amps using the T6, I was surprised to find that there's almost any difference between the 2 amps. Rex from Watt Hifi assured me that the 326BEE can really power the T6 because of its high sensitivity. Plus the 326BEE was the same amp I auditioned powering a KEF iQ70 and Monitor RS8. This was were I confirmed that my ears like the SS sound better than tubes. Plus the 326BEE is like 11k cheaper than the 356BEE. Maybe we can reserve that 356 on harder to drive speakers.
So how does it compare to the 550A? It sounds more composed and full. Details are presented better and sounds more balanced compared to the CA. The NAD also did produce more bass, where in CA, I had to adjust the equalizer settings to add more oomphh in my music. I also find the highs to sound a lot thicker than CA. I know this is a subjective preference, but I like my music that way.
Overall, even if NAD was rated 10w lower than CA, I feel NAD is more powerful. It has a lot more punch. I know this isn't a good comparison but on the same listening level that satisfies me, the volume knob on my NAD is only on the 8:45 position while in CA it's on 12 o'clock.

supposedly. Play your reference tracks while set your volume/gain. Kapag may clipping, turn it one notch lower until walang clipping sa entire track. Do it sa both amps. Then compare.

Sa 550A, sindihan mo clipping detection ng CAP5. Uurong yan ng volume pag clipping na to a safe volume level. Kung san siya tumigil, yun ang max mo before clipping.
Sa C326BEE, sindihan mo soft clipping circuitry. Iilaw yung blue led sa harap pag inabot nya ang clipping point. Pag napapablink mo na yun, sobra ka na sa volume.

Seryosong seryoso ka nga nun... Pag tinatawag ka namin.. Nag bibigay ka ng "Talk to my Hand sign" ha ha ha.. At isa pa imposibleng ako yun kasi malayo ako sayo.. nag iisa lang ako sa table at nakatalikod sa stage para di ko makita yung malalaswang palabas na nagaganap sa Stage

About the sound, Cambridge is a bit more transparent/revealing and has extended highs. While NAD sounds a bit thicker and has more weight in the bass area. Build-wise, CA is better with it's aluminum face plate and imposing heft. Feature-wise, Cambridge has speaker a-b, while NAD has the ability to bypass it's preamp and be used as a power amp. The latter is a feature which is more useful for me.

kasi i know it's gonna be hard to sell the pioneer. plus spl-wise, a single 12 incher like it trumps a dual 8 incher like the S8s. atsaka hindi ako mahilig sa sub master timi, sa istarbaks pwede pa ;D

Sir with all the speakers that you mentioned, I would suggest the Denon because its the most neutral of the 3 you mentioned. Mix pala yung speakers mo eh, kala ko isang set sya. Although surrounds dont matter much sa HT kasi effects lang maririnig mo, if in the future you want to use your surround speakers for music and your driver is your Denon, ok parin tunong non.
some speakers are brighter than others(makalansing, matinis/matalas) kaya kailangan ng warm na receiver. yung iba naman, warm in nature ang speaker(smooth, maganda sa low notes) so kailangan mabalance by using a bright receiver. so in your case, since iba iba gamit mo, use a neutral receiver para kahit anong ipair mo, yung natural characteristic nung speaker mo ang lalabas. idaan mo na lang sa EQ para madjust sa preference mo yung sound.

AH ok maraming salamat mga gurus..
Balak ko kasi yung NAD 316BEE ang magda-DRIVE sa surround back at yung Denon 2802 ang magda-DRive sa Surround using B&W 601 S2 speaker...kaya pinagiisipan ko na kung anong NEW AVR ang gagamitin ko para ma-experience ko ang HDMI...by the way di ko pa na-testing itong mga speaker ko sa movie puro sa AUDIO lang di na kasi ako nagkaroon ng time inabot na ng pag-alis ko bale ang ginamit ko na AUDIO source yung MArantz KI sognature so far ok naman....wala pa nga pala akong SUB...tsk tsk tsk magastos talaga HT at audio gears....

hello, sorry late login. was out of the country. regarding which avr to run on a psb set? i already tried different amps from denon, onkyo, pioneer and yamaha. all have similar or close to similar results. dominant ang influence ng speaker sa ht setup especially with high sensitivity speakers like these psb set. but in audio listening, the difference is noticeable when you use an integrated amp.
was out of the country ba or just got back from starbucks...hehehe

My left speakers first point of reflection is a large glass window where the result was an overemphasized top end on my setup. To tame it a bit, adding these absorbers on that point of reflection effectively absorbed around 20 to 40% of the mid and high frequencies producing a much cleaner and balance sound on my setup.

Such reflective areas behave like mirrors. If sound where visual, your ears will see a reflection of the speaker on these reflective surfaces.
Two things can happen to the sound. Reflections can reach your ear in-phase or our of phase. In-phase, boosts sound. Out-of phase reduces sound.
In a badly reflective room, you can get peaks and valleys in your sound response curve.
That's putting it simply. Other room effects are standing waves, echos, peakiness (boominess, shouting etc.), and resonance (vibrations.)

Such reflective areas behave like mirrors. If sound where visual, your ears will see a reflection of the speaker on these reflective surfaces.
Two things can happen to the sound. Reflections can reach your ear in-phase or our of phase. In-phase, boosts sound. Out-of phase reduces sound.
In a badly reflective room, you can get peaks and valleys in your sound response curve.
That's putting it simply. Other room effects are standing waves, echos, peakiness (boominess, shouting etc.), and resonance (vibrations.)

The EL34 will give you more than enough power for your Sonus! :D Depends also on your music preference :D According to some peeps, KT88 daw mas brusko...Never had KT88s before, only 6550...Pag makakuha ka pa ng NOS EL34 na Telefunken or even new production Svetlana, solb na! :DThanks Sir Jen. when I got my crv last month, the sound system was horrible. probably the worst set of stock audio system i ever heard. upon uninstalling the drivers, no wonder it sounds bad. the cone is made of some cheap plastic kinda like what your mangta-taho use for his cups.

Focal PS165 FX - Flax drivers are the newest thing for Focal. They have this on their latest Aria line. It seems that this is good enough for Focal to discontinue their Polyglass line. The PS165FX should currently be the best Flax driver they have right now.

nope it wont be void, yung warranty lang daw ang void if may masira, but the yojin 3 maintenance daw is not affected. Palibhasa sanay ka magset up ng car audio kaya lakas ng loob mo mag full active, it took me countless hours to get it right, and it wasn't even me who did, yung installer ko din ang nakaayos lol.
Installed the amp and the processor and is now running on full active. Dramatic change in the system. Improved midbass output, details are more pushed out, removed the localization of speakers, sweet spot in the driver's area. Subs and mono amp nalang kulang
Master G, now that the crv will give your sub some cabin gain, would you still need a big sub for it?

Really happy with the outcome. Next up, instead of the mono amp or sub, will probably upgrade the A-pillars first to be able to mount the tweeters for a better stage. I suddenly didn't find the urge to get a sub right away because of the impressive midbass response done by the latest upgrades I did.

One of the problems in condo living is the quality of electricity you are getting. In my condo, voltage runs from 230 to 245v. My Luxgen AVR has already taken care of that. I also installed a Panther surge protector for additional peace of mind. Still, I am encountering a problem where my audio equipment is very sensitive to power fluctuations. For example, if I switch a light here, my freezer defrosts or as simple as me turning the fan on, a cracking sound can be heard from my speakers. It probably has clipped and it's a scary thought.
Since the usual combo of AVR/Surge Protector didn't work. I had to ask Sir Rex if he can recommend something to help me with this problem. He told me about the Xindak Power conditioner. I know, some might think that these types of accessories are some sort of snake oil but since it was offered as a home audition, I got nothing to lose.
The Xindak XF500E cost P6,500. Too expensive for a fancy surge protector I tought. It has 4 sockets where 2 were labeled for power amps, then another 2 for preamp/accessories. Since I got 2 integrated amps to use for the review and 2 DACs, I plugged them all into the Xindak for an easy A/B testing.
Upon turning my system on. I tried the usual suspects that causes that distortion on my speakers. Turned the AC on, nope, no noise, Turned those high-wattage bulbs on, none. Turned my fan on and cranked the speed up and down, nope, still no noise. Could this mean that the Xindak Power Conditioner was working? I can confidently say YES. After this test, I am now placing my order through Watts Hifi :)

Probably putting this as a placeholder for the Rega DAC since I am not fully done reviewing it. The kit is pretty bare. It only contains a power cord. No other cables or a remote. A remote though would be nice to be able to switch sources easily plus to be able to browse through each filter effortlessly(The new Rega DAC-R now gets a remote though).
Setting the DAC is easy as it is just plug n' play. It was more difficult to setup my Macbook Pro to play my high-res music. At first I was just using VLC. The DAC seems to detect the right resolution, but then it does not seem to do so consistently because it locks up at a certain resolution. I now started to look for a software that can let me select the correct output for each file. Amarra and JRiver unfortunately are paid softwares. Foobar isn't available in Mac. Good thing JRiver offers a free sample that does not have a GUI but just a top bar menu. So I downloaded JRiver to play these music on my Mac.
Another problem that I just learned was all Macbooks released before 2013 have their optical out limited to 24/96. My Macbook is a 2011 model. Fortunately, my wife has a 2015 Macbook Pro which I was able to test my 24/192 files.
The sound? Let me talk about the filters first. The Rega DAC has 5 of them and they offer a bit of it's own character:
Filter 1 - Sharper highs but faster roll off in that area
Filter 2 - Slower sound. A review mentioned that this filter has more echo and reverb which I agree.
Filter 3 - Sounds more balanced than the previous 2, and is faster than Filter 2.
Filter 4 - This is actually my favorite. Midrange presence is very fluid and musical.
Filter 5 - Has the flattest sound.
I always associated the Rega house sound as laid back and very tube-like in dynamics. I find the same sonic character here. It sounds warm and lush, but what really stood out was the midrange. Matched with my Sonus Faber Toy Monitors(powered by my Cambridge Amp) the vocals were just fluid and engaging.
Aside from testing the DAC in Music I also tried it in Movies. Crazy? Actually let me explain. On my Macbook, I use a 3.5mm jack-to-RCA cable. This is because my integrated amp that I use does not have HDMI ports. For low quality movies(1 to 3GB) it works fine, but large movies where it was DD/DTS encoded(10GB up) there's distortion in the bass area and sometimes the upper frequency region. I am beginning to think it's the limitation of the cable I am using. Turns out I am correct. One of my reference movies was a remuxed Interstellar movie I got. At the very beginning of the movie while the ship was bursting through the sky or the galaxy(wherever it is), bass distortion was highly audible. Now, using the Rega DAC, this type of distortion has been completely eliminated. The movie sounds really well. Even when running a 2.1 system, layering of the sound has been great. The background effects were well separated from the foreground dialogue of the characters. What is noticeable too was the improvement in bass. I run a dimunitive REL T5 on this setup. Watching this movie made my sub more pronounced. Actually, really loud even. I got too embarassed to run this on normal listening levels because it is already late at night and I don't want to get the ire of the neighbors.
Will continue the review next time when I get more time...

Only got through the first 3 filters of Rega, and each filter provided a slightly different flavor. I'll post my review of the NAD later, so far the stage width is narrower than the Rega, but it seems to have a slightly more refined sound. Partnered with my Cambridge amp, it lacks the slam Rega provided in the lower region but overall it seems to sound a bit cleaner. I'll listen to it more later kapag nakauwi na ako and post my findings.

The NAD DAC is 3/4th the size of Rega. It came with the power cord and an installation manual. It does not have a manual that explains the features, how to operate it and what not. Or maybe it does, since it is a demo unit, it probably wasn't included in the box. Anyway, it took me more time to setup this DAC. Upon starting it up, I had a difficult time switching sources. Not sure if the panel that lights up from 2 different sides were touch screen or it auto detects sources. Rex actually told me that to make this responsive, I have to lift the plastic thing covering the touchscreen buttons to make it work. I actually just knew about that when I had to return the DAC a week after ;D
When I started using this DAC, I used the optical out. As mentioned earlier, optical out is limited to 24/96. I actually am ok with this mainly because of 2 things. 1. Most, if not all the songs I downloaded from HDTracks are in this resolution. 2. I don't need to borrow my wife's Macbook to play my sparsely limited 24/192 songs.
My song selection came from Smashing Pumpkins(Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness) and Toto. Also played 16/44 songs from Jennifer Warnes and Madonna. In comparison to Rega, NAD sounds louder. The stage is also more upfront, and it is a tad more aggressive than the Rega. Using my NAD amp parterned with my Sonus Faber Toy(along with the Rel T5) makes the bass a bit bloated. Switching to my Cambridge Audio Amp, bass had better control and grip. Across the frequency range, it does have more oomph while not showing any weakness. This is definitely more forward and lively than Rega. NAD sounds more Solidstate as to Rega's Tube-like sound.

Ive heard the Nad d1050 but was pitted against the MF M1 DAC instead, like you, I also found the bass to be bloated and uncontrolled.I highly agree on your impressions master. :)
They were both similar in sound, but the NAD was the more musical and detailed of the 2, albeit the bloated midbass, which could probably sound good on bass shy speakers :)
Setup was Nad 356bee, Nad C545bee, PSB Image X1T, Laptop with Flac files (98/24)

NAD shows more muscle and provides great value being both an external DAC and headphone amp. It also helps that it has an asynchronous USB feature. The 10k price difference too is hard to ignore. Unfortunately, Rega matches my Sonus Faber/Rel combo more. With Rega, my 2.1 setup was more musical and engaging. It is also fun having 5 different filters to play with, giving me 5 different options to use depending on the mood and genre I'm playing. Finally, I had my wife's ear listen to both DACs, she chooses the Rega by far. Now to get the most sought-after WAF, I told her the DAC only cost 5k (My white lie to survive the day) O0
So there it is, the Rega DAC now takes a permanent place in my system.

Have you tried setting your rega dac as the output device in audio midi setup?
Just FLAC files sir. All other files I got, like WAV, AIFF, M4A etc. are fine. If I select a FLAC file, it doesn't show any error messages, it just returns back into the GUI without playing the file. It actually has the same behavior like Amarra Hifi wherein both are like plug-ins for iTunes. Also tried the stand alone software from Audirvana, same thing.
I'll go check if I can change the setting under audio midi setup. Thanks.

JRiver sounds best in #3, followed by number 2 & last is the MBP. JRiver still sounds best using windows OS.
For MAC, I have tried Audirvana+, Amarra, Pure Music, Cog & Fidelia. Best sounding is Amarra Symphony but the GUI & structure is a decade behind compared to the other players. Next best is Audirvana+, with proper tweaking it can go toe to toe with Amarra.

Just FLAC files sir. All other files I got, like WAV, AIFF, M4A etc. are fine. If I select a FLAC file, it doesn't show any error messages, it just returns back into the GUI without playing the file. It actually has the same behavior like Amarra Hifi wherein both are like plug-ins for iTunes. Also tried the stand alone software from Audirvana, same thing.
I'll go check if I can change the setting under audio midi setup. Thanks.

I did an experiment on JRiver (MC20) with 3 different computers:I agree. Mac OS is still far from beating PC in terms of music. The first thing I noticed is how lower the noise floor is on a PC vs MAC. I'd still rate my PC/Musiland/PSB as more "hifi" sounding than my Mac/Rega/Sonus Faber setup. :)
1. Mid 2010 MacBook Pro w/ hdd
2. Dell core2duo w/ hdd
3. DIY desktop PC i7 w/ sdd
JRiver sounds best in #3, followed by number 2 & last is the MBP. JRiver still sounds best using windows OS.
For MAC, I have tried Audirvana+, Amarra, Pure Music, Cog & Fidelia. Best sounding is Amarra Symphony but the GUI & structure is a decade behind compared to the other players. Next best is Audirvana+, with proper tweaking it can go toe to toe with Amarra.

1. Wipe clean the hard drive & reinstall Yosemite. Install Audirvana+ and don't add any other apps or software.
2. Music files should not be on the same hd as your OS, they should be on a NAS or external hd, one with its own power supply is preferred.
3. Disable wifi connection & notification alerts entirely or at least when listening to music.
4. Upgrade your hdd to ssd.

Don't give up on your Mac just yet sir, once you get the hang of Audirvana+ ma-enjoy mo rin yan. It's the most preferred audiophile player for macs. One good thing about Audirvana is it gets updated about twice or at least once a year & these updates are free. You just need to buy the license one time.

The Vlink is a good investment in your case since your Rega Dac will need it, so whether you stay with your MBP or move on to a PC, the spdif-USB converter is still essential to maximize the DAC.Was reading more into these converters. These converters like the Vlink adds asynchronous capability into the data clocking while adding galvanic isolation into spdif. Which surely explains why reviews are raving about these converters. For Windows, unfortunately, I only bought the JRiver license for Mac, I currently use a free software for PC which is Foobar. It does not have the GUI savvy-ness of JRiver but it gets the job done. Plus it is for free.

He calls it USB power plant. It doesnt have a fancy sleek looking casing but it does the job. Everytime i remove it from my system chain i notice a degradation in sound quality.

Great feedback. Would try it out too this coming saturday because my weekend was spent auditioning the Cocktail Audio X12. It sounds "analog" and as per specs should be able to output 24/192 via optical output but then I like the X10's character more. They still have a long way to go beating our Mac/PC setup in terms of functionality, features and sound quality. It is just that, it is pretty convenient to have all these things in a small box :)

Today, my wife gave me a Beats Studio 2.0 Noise Cancelling Headphones to accompany me in work. In comparison to my Sennheiser Momentum and Grado SR80i, sound quality-wise, it isn't really that worse. It is actually known as the best sounding Beats set. Noise cancellation is pretty good, if you don't mind the low hiss attributed to NC headphones. Not sure if it is because it isn't broken in yet, but bass isn't that as heavy as a regular Beats Solo or something. It also sounds laid back. In comparison to my over-ear Momentum, the details isn't really at that level, but it sounds clear enough for you to appreciate the music. Here it is along with the standard PWC wristshot lol!

My son just turned 2, and I am amazed by the wide vocabulary he learns from watching Peppa Pig. To make the audio more intelligible, naturally, as a loving dad, I had to upgrade the setup in his playroom(my living room).

Completed my son's 2.1 setup. Added a Polk Audio HTS 10 Subwoofer and some Sabre platforms for the AVR. Now he can watch Peppa Pig with Bass!(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180203/955ef95f5a96fbe95daf7235e3c2e972.jpg)
