Title: Official Aurum Cantus Thread
Post by: john5479 on Aug 23, 2004 at 12:49 PM
Heard some of the models from this brand paired with tube amps and they sound great  ;) They look great too with their glossy piano finish.
They will be available soon as well which means more choices ;D

Voelker...

May i know where you got those prices?  cattylink ba?  If yes i would just like to note that cattylink is not a distributor of aurum cantus or any products they carry.  Most of their products are from mainland china... so either refurbished or local versions and they do not come with warranty.

Plus they charge a LARGE fee for shipment and taxes kasi they only ship via UPS, Fedex or DHL...

caution lang sir.

hey doodleboy,

yeah, got it from cattylink. no plans of ordering from them, ginamit ko lang yung list nila as a guide for the prevailing market prices in hk/china. the actual prices, at least out of hk, are usually much cheaper.

china naman talaga source for these speakers and lots of other hifi gear diba? im not sure about the refurbished part but for the warranty, yeah that's a risk for someone thinking of getting them from cattylink (not me).

true true... anyway, im not advocating ordering these items from cattylink, i think you read too much into my post. just wanted to share the prices bec i was looking into these speakers a few months back

not implying anything pare... was just clarifying and warning because i got a problem unit from cattylink a year ago and had to return it to them personally sa HK.  hassle pare!

hehe no worries doodle, pero like i said, youre getting ahead of yourself. i wasnt thinking of getting anything from cattylink, kaya nga di ko na nimention kung saan ko nakuha yung list. with regards to your experience with a problem unit, yan talaga ang downside when you get stuff from overseas. in those cases talagang buyer beware, as you mentioned, getting a replacement is too much trouble.

Ang galing nga!  For a little less than P20K may 5 speaker system ka na for HT.  And that's with floorstanders pa as fronts.  Only problem I see is the 4 ohm impedance of the speakers.  Kung naging 6 or 8 lang sana, may magiging matinding kalaban na ang wharfs as best budget speaker :)

Sirs,

Don't worry about the rated impedance, these are sensitive and stable speakers. You have to try and listen to these wonders ;D

To erase all your worries, you can bring your receivers when you audition ;D

These will kick the butt of many entry level and mid-level speakers. ;) For those who are starting in audio and have a limited budget, you owe it to yourself to audition these speakers. 8) IMHO they're very good for audio. :D

Cheers

I heard these speakers 2 days ago and if I may say,  the quality of the sound of the floorstander is not comparable to wharfs, but with Mission M30 series. With the price of these speakers, you'll be amaze with the sound of it. Specially the SV series which is comparable to Mission V60 series in my opinion. I like the real wood enclosure of SV series and most specially the ribbon tweeters. Really awesome speakers in my opinion.

BTW, I replaced my M7C2 with Aurum Cantus center speaker. ;)

Aurum Cantus SV series against my 4 days old B&W602 ? I still can't comment, haven't fully broken in my 602.

Ribbon tweeters against silk dome tweeters ? I go with the ribbon tweeters when it comes to highs. ;)

it's just me, my ears and my opinion. ;)

For those reading this thread and worries about the specs >:D an audiophile from Clark, Pampanga visited the store around 1PM last Friday with his home brewed 6watter SET power amp and preamp (made by Mang Rod). He could'nt believe that it can drive the F6600 with ease. At 9 o clock the speakers can sing. He even asked me, quote " Are you sure this speaker is 4 Ohms, how come it can be driven with ease by a 6 watter" ;D (odyopayl can vouch for this). He also auditioned the 2SV and 3SE. He left around 7:00PM  ;D

Thanks guys for auditioning and writing about our speakers.  I have clarified the 4 ohms rating before we imported this from the supplier and he guaranteed that the lower ohms will not affect performance.  In fact he said that for floor standers it would be maximized if we use 4 ohms.  Being a non-technical guy i would let my ears do the judging and so far i have heard our floor standers sing using 12 watter EL-84 integrated and 8 watter SET integrated.

Please drop in anytime and lend us your ears???  ;D

He even asked me, quote " Are you sure this speaker is 4 Ohms, how come it can be driven with ease by a 6 watter" ;D (odyopayl can vouch for this). He also auditioned the 2SV and 3SE. He left around 7:00PM ;D

After reading this post, me too amazed with the Specs. 4 OHMS? (honestly i though it's an 8 ohm)I've heard this speakers really sing! This is a budget "Audiophile" speaker. I had auditioned 9 series Wharfedale speaker this is no match with this (forgive me, no offence to Wharf users).
At volume below normal listening level, the bass is dept and with authority, The mids is clear and a bit laid back and oh my a very precise high!
If you want to hear this speaker better hear it yourself, my definition is an elegant (audiophile grade) sounding speakers.

I recently accompanied my dad who is currently shopping for gear with the objective of building a budget sound system. And, our last stop in the audio chain was to get a pair of speakers.

We listened to different models/brands within the 40k region and ended up spending a lot of time with the Aurum Cantus Leisure 3SE. Overall, the Leisure 3SE exhibited a different sound character and experience compared to dome-based tweeter systems. The sound was completely devoid of sharpness, high frequency artifacts and artificial treble extension that one normally hears in conventional dome tweeter designs. With the ribbons, you hear every note followed by silence, then a note, then silence… But, you know that the ribbons are capable of delivering the highs when needed by the program material. We heard a lot of detail in both the mid-range and high frequency section that we haven’t heard in other speakers in its price point (or maybe even 2 to 3x its price). Malinis at detalyado tumunog. Technically, we think it's because the ribbons have the ability to deliver up to 40khz and mechancally, the ribbons just move more air that's why it has more resolution at mid-high frequencies. On the bottom end, bass is articulate with excellent bass extension in spite that the unit has not been 100% broken in yet.

So how good are the 3SE when I listened to music?  Well, what I can say is that the acoustic guitar sounds close to the real thing. I know because I play the guitar. The vocals are also close to the sound I hear when I watch live band sessions and when we do sound checks during concert events. Of course it will not generate the sound pressure levels of a live band (that’s why I watch concerts) but the sound quality of the voice reproduced is close to it. I know you might want to hear more but that’s how far my listening preference and reference takes me.

On another note, we also auditioned the very affordable PHP5k Aurum Cantus F-Series bookshelf speakers which also impressed us in its overall sound reproduction. We really think that it’s the best value for money--also after listening to a lot of bookshelf speakers in its price range--that’s why we ended up bringing home a pair :)

As for the Leisure 3SE, my dad vowed that this is on top of his to do list and will definitely get a pair for keeps. He also liked the Moon Goddess II but is not yet prepared to invest that much again in an audio system.

Again, looking for the right speakers is a tedious process which entails going from shop to shop and scheduling listening sessions. But then, this is a worthwhile exercise if we want to make sure that we make the most out of our limited budget. So, if you’re shopping for speakers in this price range, we strongly recommend that you give the Aurum Cantus Leisure 3SE a listen before you make your final purchase decision or else you might end up having the worst case of "buyers remorse".

I saw this model on Kelsie Audio & video Designs site and some Australian ebay type site.
Im more than satisfied with the very good sounding yet affordable f5000r, this will surely  be better.

Bug/Gubs

Bug, We can bring an 8ohm F6600/F5508 and F5000C, problem is aurum needs a big volume to modified the 4ohms cross-over to 8ohms.

FYI Kelsie is doing their own modifications without aurum approval. Medyo galit nga aurum eh  ;D ;D ;D

You can bring your receiver at our shop and I assure you that your receiver can drive the F6600.

Cheers

Ty for the reply,
Just wondering if my Marantz sr4500 can drive an all 4 ohm front load. Our friend who got the f5508 , f5000c and f5000r from you uses the same reciever and his rears sound weak.Maybe he just did not calibrate for distance etc.
Anyway I saw in one european site the marantz 4500 put out more than  100 plus real  watts @ 4ohms with 5 channels driven. This will surely tax its power supply maybe thats why his rears  sound weak, even with just 3 4 ohm loads.
Anyway will test to see whats wrong cause I am thingking of getting your f6600 floorstanders to go with my f5000c and will put the f5000r to the rear.Ty

Meastro,

Marantz receiver usually runs hot, stable 4 ohms at 90dB IMHO it will not overheat. A client with 4500 bought a set of speaker so far he's very happy with it.

Bug,

I think its not properly calibrated, that's why the surround is weak. Try to test tone na lang.  ;D

Surprising, the thought how is this priced P10,500 ( less 10% pa hehehehe ) for  1 tweeter and 2 woofer design floorstander :o :o :o compare with other brands that are price around the 12k to 19k bracket. Iba talaga Chinese they know how to create a product that is to say light on the pocket. the Aurum F6600 has two tone scheme, grey facade and cherry vinyl body combo tapos black plinth, tweeter sports a textile soft dome tweeter that reaches 20Hz and a pair of 5 1/2 inch woofers for the midbass and LFE that goes 45hz. gold plated biwirable speaker terminals.

Enjoyable..

The Aurum F6600 are enjoyable to listen to play some fast to slow music at medium levels and it will respond with good and balance sound. I prefer music on the warm side and notice Aurum's highs are controlled not in any moment harsh nor bright instrument like brass have a good texture and bite, female vocals are standard nothing special but clear same with male voices, the mid bass are bouncy/tunefull pero would like to have some more feel of it.  :D :D

Cautious..

I was cautious on bringing up the volume level with F6600 coz driven by my 30 watter AMX EL34 tube amp ( Modified ) notice in some passage especially in big bands or soundtracks that the bottom end tend to soften out or rolled off so checking the spec its impedance rating pala is 4 ohms and sensivity of 90db. pero i believe with an SS amp with 80 to 100 watts this will not happen. also gather that the F5000 bookshelf specs are 8 ohms at 90db promising. :) :) :D

Happy auditioning!!

Thanks to Audio Amplified for lending us. 8) 8) 8) ( Sir Noel )

Yes it sure is.  The Leisure 2 SV at 25,000 a pair  is the most affordable true aluminum ribbon tweeter + real wood speaker on earth (well maybe?)  Ahem ahem... rosebud anyone???  Para di pagalitan ni uncle Mark Levinson bumementa lang kami ng bulaklak okay... kayo nalang bahala mag connect.   ;D ;D ;D

Regarding sa true aluminum ribbon?? meron bang hindi true ribbon?
Title: Re: Official Aurum Cantus Thread
Post by: AudioAmplified on Oct 27, 2005 at 02:42 PM
Some speaker manufacturers use "planar" type ribbon speakers.  They can be loosely classified as ribbon since they still utilize a radiating ribbon to create sound however they do not come close to the benefits of the true ribbon in terms of highs (true ribbons should produce 40kHz and up), transients and clarity. Planar ribbons are much cheaper and easier to produce since they can be mass produced while true ribbons are 100% hand-made because of the delicateness of the material used.

Rule of thumb... planar ribbons usually - waland ridges yung ribbons.

It would be safe to bi-wire.  While the F-series is 4 ohms it has a high sensitivity level so the actual load on the amp is light.  Moreover, Aurum uses "real" ratings and their speakers arent known to dip much.

It normally takes 2 months for fresh orders to arrive.

1 month to make - since each unit takes 7 days to hand-make with 14 layers of paint they need drying time
1 month to ship out and clear customs.  We might place a new order.  for those wanting special colors or ribbon tweeters please contact noel.

Thanks

Audio Amplified/ Aurus Cantum owners:

Have been saving up for either a Leisure 2SE or 3SE. . . . I intend to put this in our bedroom on a shelf 2 ft deep so the free space between the backwall and the speaker would be about 1ft. Also a TV would be in
the middle of the speakers with about 1.5ft of space between the side of the tv and the side of the speaker.
The bedroom is 10'x13' with the long side of the bed parallel to the 10' wall.
Questions:
     1. Would it be wise to have just 1 ft space between the backwall and the speakers? Will the sound be
affected by such a small clearance since this speaker has a rear port. I am now using diamond 9.1s and
it seems to be not affected by the small clearance( it has front ports )
     2. Would a 1.5 ft clearance between the speaker and the tv be enough because I understand that these
         speakers are not shielded.

Any comments/suggestions would be highly appreciated.

Sir all Aurum Cantus Speaker are magnetically shielded  ;)
For audio/video consideration: If your speaker is not shielded it should be kept at least a foot away from TV set  8)

Will not comment on number 1 (coz I'll be biased) but at our showroom we are placing it near the side wall and about 2 to 3 from the front wall.

Sir,

Thanks for your interest on Aurum Cantus speakers.  Best way to address your doubts is to audition the speakers first-hand and simulate the conditions of your room.  If you are happy with what you hear in our showroom we can even lend you a pair to try at home for your final decision.  We are confident about our product as we have tested them ourselves but of course our opinion can always be biased hahaha as noel said.... let your ears decide for you.

Please give us a call and we can set-up the system you are interested in for you.  You can even bring in your amp

i suggested yamaha since there's an impedance switch at the back. care to suggest AVRs other than Yamaha? his budget is under 18k.

Using  Cambridge Audio Azur 540A ....... If I want to hear a little more detail at the expense of bass extension, I use my Sonic Impact T as power amp and the Azur as preamp........I dont listen at high volumes, the volume
knob on the Azur rarely goes beyond 9 o'clock....

hi, im interested with the leisure 2 se, will my rotel ra02 be able to drive it well? its a 40 watt amp, tnx

Post by: AudioAmplified on Jul 29, 2006 at 10:22 PM
Sir, your rotel amp should have no problem driving the leisure 2se.  the ribbon tweeter hybrid design is pretty easy to drive.  We have successfully driven the Leisure 2SE using 8 watt 300B SET amp.

However, if you want to be 100% sure why dont you bring your rotel in one day and we can hook up your system to test it :)

We are placing our new order for Aurum Cantus which is expected to arrive mid-October (sorry they are hand made so it takes them a while to make and test each unit).  For those who are interested in Aurum ribbon tweeters and woofers please check out the site below and we can order them for you and ship in together with our shipment to save on logistics cost.

For those who want to audition the tweeters and woofers... umm perhaps you can try any of our Aurum speakers with the specific unit you are interested in.

Did you do any mods on your T-amp?

If you want better bass on your t-amp, pm jojod818, he did my t-amp and i cannot believe the bass extension on my t-amp.

audioamplified,

good day gentlemen:

pa-post naman po ng leisure series pics na sold locally.  Sa US, iyong distributor ng Aurum may improvement silang ginagawa sa speaker before they sell it. Do you apply the same? Thanks.
Title: Re: Official Aurum Cantus Thread
Post by: AudioAmplified on Sep 18, 2006 at 02:00 PM
Sir,

Aurum Cantus has 2 distributors in the US. kellsieavdesign and vasaudio.  Kellsie carries the Music/Moon and Leisure series while Vas carries the V-series.  As for kellsie, they modified the crossover just a bit to match their solid state Sheng Ya amplifiers.  What we have is the European version.  They use the same finishing quality as the US versions - 14 layers of paint for Leisure and 18 layers for Volla and Supreme. Mundorf capacitors. matched components and gold plated binding posts.

In Kellsie's website they are basically comparing the US version with the mainland China version which uses cheaper woofers and crossovers to be competitive price wise in the poorer China market.

I have heard the Kellsie version and i like the European version more.  The main difference is Kellsie bass is boomier and not as tight as the European version.  But then again it might be what their Sheng Ya amps need.

Vas audio uses the same European/Japanese/Australian version that we carry.

Hi, good day

I am looking for floor standers to serve as my hi-fi audio set-up and would appreciate your advise as follows:

1.  Which is better the F6600 or the F5508?  I also have noticed that you have got the 8 ohm/88db rating while the previous batch (also indicated in their website) are 4 ohms/90db.  I plan to conect these speakers to low watt tube amps and aslo to a set of Sonic impact t-amps.  Which would be better,  the 8ohm or the 4ohm sets?

2.  Are these speakers bi-wireable?

3.  What other floor standers would you recommned for audio application with a maximum budget of 25K.

4.  Would appreaciate an updated price quote for the above.

Aside from this website, you may sms me at 0918-9077165.

Regards,

JoeyGS

These are value for money speakers. I heard them at Hi-Fi Lounge, Alabang demoed with Cayin tube amp and tube cdp. They sound good in audio even if they are actually intended for HT. Good all rounder for budget HT/audio set-up. They look good too; they look more expensive than their actual price.

If I were to pick bet F6600 and the F5508, I will go for the F5508, just for a little added bass. Besides that, these two sounded they same to me.

I think they are not biwirable. The center F5500 that I bought is not biwirable. In fact the binding posts are smaller than most, and I had to really squeeze tight the 12ga wire that I used with it.

The prices in the above post are still the current prices. Just bought my center last Dec 4. These entry level speakers are real value for money.

But if you have 25K budget, and you're only intending to use it for pure audio, I believe there are other alternatives out there that you should also consider(wont mention them here since this is AC thread ;D;just visit the other speaker threads).  Just try to audition all the alternatives, so will be more definite in your final choice.

They have speakers for audio, but I think they are already beyond the 25K mark, like the Voila that I also saw at Hi-Fi Lounge.

Post by: AudioAmplified on Dec 21, 2006 at 02:45 PM
Just to clarify; the F5508 and F6600 are bi-wirable.  The F5000C center is not.  Then again that speaker is Php 4500 and the binding posts are gold plated already (but i admit the binding posts are a little too close together).

The F-series is a versatile series that can do both HT and audio although they are made for HT in mind.  If you want to have audio speakers at near 25K price range we have the Aurum Leisure 2SV and Castle Richmond 3i.  :)  I don't think Hi Fi Lounge has them but they are available if you want to listen to them.  The Volla is Aurum's flagship bookshelf speaker and is positioned against speakers priced 200,000 and up.

Thanks for choosing an Aurum.

Just to clarify; the F5508 and F6600 are bi-wirable.  The F5000C center is not.

I stand corrected. I just assumed they would be the same since they're from the same series, just like the other brands that I once used.

Anyway, the F-series are real value for money speakers; especially for those who are like me who can only afford to have one set-up for both HT & Audio.

Do you have a subwoofer for the F-series? I'm also planning to buy a good sub which is modestly priced, just like these F-series speakers.

I had a chance to listen to Leisure 2SE and i find it very musical and the mids and the highs are its strength.  How does it stand side by side with DALI Ikon 2? (which is also a ribbon type).  I personally own a DALI Concept 2 and i am planning to upgrade my speaker in the future.

My Setup:
Cayin CDT-15A CD player
A50T Integrated Tube Amplifier
Dali Concept 2

I've been drooling for the leisure 2SE and finally had the chance to home audition it two months ago...look what happened!  ;D I finally decided to get my own leisure last month... :o I replaced my DALI speakers because i felt like i wasn't able to maximize the potential of my cayin cdt15a & a50t amp because they were on the brighter side (perhaps ideal for HT and not in audio). :(  I guess the general rule still applies...you have to match the price of your amp to get the most out of it..Eventhough the price of my leisure is 3x compared to my Dali, i have no regrets at all :D  I've been listening to my leisure for over a month now, it just keeps getting better and better every night and just can't wait for it to fully break in... ;D The Leisure can really sing, the mids and highs are its strengths...perfect for my listening taste (more on vocals and musical instruments).  It's hard to imagine the sounds are coming from a bookshelf and they look gorgeous and can even use its piano finish as a mirror (not only beautiful on the inside but on the outside as well)...It delivered even tighter bass when i upgrade my gears to mundorf supreme... ;)  My adventure now is CD hunting because i'm satisfied my current setup... ;D ;D

And i compared these two sa audio mas gusto ko tunog ng aurum cantus over wharf.

Ewan ko lang sa HT if maganda ang aurum.

i got the chance to hear these last sunday at shangri-la mall, since there was a guy there who was auditioning it.so naki audition na rin ako. it has a clear crisp sound! ganda ng tunog!  :o kakaingit!

Bro,

Question lang medyo curious lang ako since you already heard the Aurum.  I'm here kase sa Dubai and doesn't have the chance to audition it.  If you compare it to Sonus Faber (i.e Domus Series) and Monitor Audio's (i.e RS or GS series) say within the same price range and type (bookshelf or floorstanders)...How do you rate the Aurum?

Thanks,

S2N.

Aurum stands out.  Metalic tunog ng tweeter ng MA.  Sonus naman laid back and hard to drive.  The Domus series is more focussed for HT.  Aurums are also hard to drive, but when driven with the right amp you would surely enjoy and forget about your equipment... totally!

Aurum makes their own supertweeters, which are purchased and used by high end models of Vonschweikert.

Sir Lestat

Not that hard to drive naman hehehe...  Remember we paired a 28watter to your Aurum floor stander for a while and you were perfectly happy with the sound :P

Ngayon kasi naka monoblock ka na ...  u want more na hehehe.  Dapat kasi V7F na kunin mo.  Mas bagay sa monoblocks mo.

Is there still a pair of the supreme available? Any listening impressions of the V10f? thanks :)

The Grand Supreme in our showroom is sold already.  Owner does not want it delivered pending completion of his AV room.  We are more than happy to house it in the mean time so that our customers can listen to it when they want.

The V10 is a sister model of Accentus which features one tweeter, one mid-woofer and a big woofer.  To be honest we have not yet heard the V10 since its a pretty new model so i cant comment on its sonics for now but rest assures it should be good since the V7F, V6F and V3F were all quite good.  The V10 reminds me much of the music goddess model of Aurum.  This was their first big speaker and this was the speaker that kinda propelled Aurum into the international spotlight (well the Leisure series was equally popular too).

Based on the specs the Grand Supreme should still be better and most likely faster sounding.  If the grand supreme is too big the Harmony is our next reco.  Remember... Supreme - Harmony - Volla is Aurum's flagship series followed by their V-models :)

if it is similar to Accentus A103 and sounds as good as A103 - then it is helluva speaker. I own an older version of A101, it is very hard to beat, in sound and build quality. driven by Lamm, glorious. I also own a VR5 Anniv, which is also a hell of a speaker - but wouldn't mind going upline in the Accentus/Aurum Cantus family in the future. The two tier tweeter of the older version of Grand Accentus was not made available to any other speaker manufacturer and I heard the latest iteration would be 3 tier aluminum tweeter

very nice set sir.

the accentus model you have has a direct equivalent from aurum.  It is the Aurum Cantus Grand Supreme.  Its their flagship speaker that was designed to go against $20,000 speakers.  The V10 uses trickle down technology from the Grand Supreme,  so does other V-series models.

Parabolic layout, diappolito design, slanting baffle and mundorfed crossovers.  :)

I was thinking the same thing.  Comparing the 9.5  with 9.1 surrounds and the mission MV8 and MV4 and the Aurum Cantus equivalent f serries.

Was also thinking infinity and polk but they are priced in higher bracket.

Sorry sirs...

It would be unethical for us to borrow brands that we dont carry for an A-B test.

However, if any of your would want to borrow and bring those brands to our showroom we would be more than happy to set-up an A-B controlled test.  Even the bookshelf should already tell you the general characteristics of each speaker.

Sir Tyrone and sir Noel, thank you so much for delivering my F5508. Really appreciate it na kayo pa mismo nag deliver ng speakers. Using it with my Dared MP5 amp. Hehe. Kakagulat na kaya palang i-drive ng maliit na amp na to yung floorstander.

Out of the box, I thought I made a wrong decision in getting the speakers. Inaaasar pa nga ko ng misis ko dahil mas maganda pa raw tumunog ang bookshelf ko. But after a few hours of music playing, unti unting lumalabas yung ganda ng tunog niya. And ngayon puro cds na ng misis ko yung nakaplay. Hehe.

Kudos to you both! Happy New Year!

got my f6600 pair last monday..... took advantage of the last day sale!!!

thanks to tyronne and noel who personally delivered the speakers to my place. am still in the process of breaking in drivers. Speakers sound very good out of the box... very good lows. Really bang for the buck for you guys looking for a entry level floorstander.

Pansin ko lang na medyo harsh ang high nya...

Ask ko lang, how long do i need to break in the highs to get a sweeter sound?

Thanks for purchasing Aurum Cantus.

Speakers normally would require 100-200 hrs to reach their full potential (bigger speakers generally take longer).  During this time the capacitors which stores the energy are burned-in until they are fully accustomed to the charges that passes through them.  Likewise the rubber around the driver also loosens up allowing it to move and deliver faster and more precise bass.

Best way to break-in a speaker is to tune it in radio and let it play all day :)  The radio covers the whole spectrum hence allows the speaker to condition itself fully.

Enjoy your speaker and do write us anytime if you have questions :)

First of all we want to thank all those who took advantage of our Aurum Sale.  Even if we had to deliver personally on Dec. 29 (since our staff are already on leave), we know that a lot of you folks are not happily breaking in their Aurum so it was really worth it.

For those inquiring if the sale is still on... sorry - it was good until Dec only.  And this is the first time we slashed down prices of Aurum this much due to our 5th year anniv. In any case... i have replied to those who inquired via pm so kindly check your message boxes.

Do visit us to audition these speakers and we can always discuss details after :)

HAPPY NEW YEAR.

If you are asking about the F series, they sound great for both HT and music. IMO, these speakers are very musical. sabi nga ng iba "Audiophile quality entry-level speakers". For movies, I'm very very satisfied. Try to audition and hear for yourself.

i've heard na yung F6600. They sound ok naman, problem is that i only was able to listen to a few tracks. Need some more time to listen to it. Ok kaya sila kung ang genre ay classical-voice-orchestra? (which means it also has to have some low freq) The other AC models are really nice  :) but i dont think i can afford them.

Thanks sir... I am very surprised that Ficion allowed the writer to mention that their speakers are made by Aurum.  For the record these are not Aurum speakers but are clearly designed and made by Aurum Cantus. As of now they are still working on perfecting their V10 so i dont see any Aurum badged speaker of this type in 2009.  However, i am 100% that Aurum will eventually venture to 2 pc. floor standers that are time aligned.

Aurum OEM for more than 20 speaker brands - of which i swore to Kevin (GM or Aurum) not to disclose. I've heard their V10 prototype with a tweeter at the back for ambient highs and it sounded very very nice.

hmm... did you see the price for the bookshelf? hehehe :P

Floorstanders are not always better than bookshelf.  Size of the listening room, type of music listened to as well as the design of the speaker all comes into play :)

Its quite ample to support a small - mid size floor stander.  Remember that speakers will sound better if given space from the walls so as to control the low frequency.  We have also suggested a proper placement for you.  As for the surrounds, the polk speakers OWM3 is another option from the F5000R since they are small and can be pointed in almost all direction. We also carry Polk so we can just package everything together and install the system for you as well.

China made Aurum - as the joke goes... God made the world and everything else is made in China. I cant mention the brands but you know how many of them are made in China.  If you are looking for a speaker under 100K per pair most likely it is made in some Asian country.  That does not mean that they are inferior, just means that the speaker company is sourcing from the lowest cost source.  During the Guangzhou audio fair i was talking to a designer of a $100,000+ speaker and he said the cabinet is made in China, he then added at this time it would be silly for them to have it made else where since China gives the best quality at the best price. As for quality he said China is the 3rd country to send a man outer-space so technologically and quality wise we know that they are better or at least at par with the best in the world.

When you visited we auditioned Aurum versus a few North American branded ones... as for the sound - you be the judge  ;)  Ask your dad to visit - we are nice people naman hahaha.  Close his eyes to the badge and let his ears decide. Or get a bose :)

This babies are really Bang for the buck, Sulit na sulit and value for the money. I smiled even more when i began to unpack the flloorstanders and finding out it comes with gold spikes. This means i saved around at least Php 1,500.00 more. ;D

When i placed the speakers to where my previous speakers where located in my bedroom, i realiized that pang dedicated  hometheater na ang size niya. ;D ;D So i packed the speakers again and started on my next project a hometheater room so i can unveil them on their rightful place. ;D

"Its sound was so realistic, detailed, and coherent that, with every recording I tried, the music grabbed me and forced me to focus on it. I found it very difficult to use the V2Ms for background listening—they kept slapping me in the face, demanding that I pay attention. "

Sir audio is very subjective. That's is why we always advise buyers to spend time auditioning the speakers of their dream  :) . What I find right to my ears maybe bright or too sweet for you. Bring your favorite CDs when auditioning. But, audition 3 speaker per session MAX! exceeding these number you may find it hard to remember the character of the speakers you had audition  ;D ;D ;D

Happy auditioning!!!

Sobrang inactive ang thread na ito.  Was able to visit audio amplified yesterday for the 1st time.  Wasn't familiar with the brand so I didn't know that Aurum had a wide range from budget to high end.  Was surprised na lang to hear the price of their midrange offering, but I guess it may be worth it naman.  Anybody who has a pair, especially the higher lines?  How do these compare with speakers of the same price range?  Should they be a better value equaling those in higher price since its only a China brand but with high end components?

BTW, to Audio Amplified, do you have anything in between the F series and the V series?  Laki kasi ng laktaw sa presyo.

I powered both the built-in crossover of the woofer and the tweeter seperately using 2 power amps. The sound was good but when I tried a 18 watters SE KT88, I was amazed that they were driven with ease. From there on, I never went back to my former setup....... ;)

Just got a pair of F5000R. It is actually designed as a rear surround speaker but I'm using it as fronts powered by Onkyo TX-NR609 mostly used for music listening.

I was surprised with the result. It's not as clean as my Diamond 9.1 but the lower frequency is more pronounced but not boomy. :)

I have a Leisure 2 SV in pristine condition. I might consider selling it if you're interested. Just PM me. :)

Still have the Leisure 2 SV ?

I'm looking for a good bookshelf for a second system.

Thanks!
