From experience di kasama ang mga Warner releases included in their low price scheme. Yung mga 499, 550, etc. titles di kasama.

I got there 10:06am... pero ubos na yung Fantastic Four, Star Wars Ep3, and there were only 3 copies of Mr. and Mrs. Smith. According to the saleslady, most stocks were reserved the day before.
When I was in line to pay, suddenly a saleslady from the counter takes out 3 copies of Star Wars Ep3 and around 10 copies of Mr. and Mrs. Smith!! Yehey, so I got Ep3. The saleslady barely walked a few steps and naubos na yung hawak niya!

I only got Mr. & Mrs Smith when I came. Buti na lang marami tayong kaibigan sa pinoydvd. I was able to talk/beg/coerce/intimidate (JK) several members to give up their extra copies. So I went home with Mr. & Mrs Smith, Star Wars Episode 3 and Fantastic Four.

I doubt this particular title that would sell out early, but when I got there at 11:00, only Season 1 was available.

umikot-ikot ako pero wala na talagang sw ep3 at f4. i asked the viva saleslady and told me all copies are reserved the day before. buti na lang hiniritan siya ng mga tao sa counter na bigyan ako para may benta na sila. swerte at binigyan ako. syempre binayaran ko agad.
also got 3 thomas and friends vcd for 100 each. kakabili ko lang ng 4 copies para sa anak 3 weeks ago for 250 each. sayang!
comment lang sa reservations ha. all 30 copies kasi ng sw ep3 e naka-reserve na daw a day before. swerte lang talaga at binigyan ako.
ok lang sana kasi magpa-reserve kung hindi sale. kaya nga tayo nag-eexert ng extra effort durig sale e para makatipid ng konting pera. para maging fair sana sa lahat, punta na lang tayo sa store tuwing sale. kung sino pinaka-maaga, siya susuwertihin. :)

I'm relatively new here as can be seen. I'm one of the those who made reservations. I learned about the reservation stuff also from here. Yesterday, I asked the guy from Astroplus if they allow reservations and he said that if it is of the 'reasonable' quantity, ie. around 20 titles, then they will allow such reservations. So I promptly chose the titles that I wanted to have.
Now, reading through the posts, I know that if I were one of those who was not able to get hold of a copy of the much sought titles, then definitely I will feel bad. However since they allowed the reservation to happen yesterday, then I grabbed the chance since it was made available to me. I am glad in the fact that I was able to get tip from these board from previous posts on past Astroplus sales, but I am also not happy knowing that a lot of people did not get any title even if they went there very early.
Just my two cents worth.

nakakainis nga na ang aga aga pa lang e wala ng stocks. ang mas nakakainis pa e pinipili ata nila ung pinapayagagn nila ipagreserve. pinadaan ko kasi gf ko this morning sa astroplus but when she got there out of stock na daw lahat and when she inquired kung pwedeng magpareserve for tomorrow in case na magrestock sila hndi daw pwede ??? >:( if they are going to allow reservations, dapat maski sino pwede. or better yet dapat ipagbawal na talaga nila

nice that everybody is having a good time getting their dvds at their best price.
actually, i am in favor of reserving dvds as long as the quantity would give big profits to the store. and second, the customer is a loyal or frequent buyer in that particular store. it's the discretion of the store whether to implement or not to implement this policy and practice.
after all, it's all about the money and reserving dvds does not violate any law.

Was also there around 10:10am. hehehe. But when I got there, lahat daw ubos na. hehehe. nakakatawa. couldn't believe it na at that early time, naubos na lahat especially the EPIII, FF4 and Troy.
But when I browsed the shelves near the front door, I noticed two copies of EP III and it was still priced at P900. I got one and there was another guy who saw me and took the other one. I went to the counter to ask if it is also priced at P299 and they said that they thought all the stocks were gone already. hahahaha. ;D
I looked around sa store and saw the reserved DVDs dun sa tabi ng cashier. Meron isa pang counter dun for the music area ata. Boxes and boxes were there with names on top!!! Grabe!! Hoarding!!! :o
Fortunately I was able to get most of the DVDs that I wanted except for the FF4 and Troy.
Yung EPIII around before noon, they took some copies out. Together with Mr and Mrs Smith. Syempre pinagkaguluhan and ubos agad. Daming buwitre including me for the MR. and Mrs. Smith!!! hehehe.
Si Matzer nga almost jumped when he was handed a copy of the FF4!!! Yes!!! THANK YOU!!!

Too bad bro. Had you waited around 10 minutes, you would have jumped for joy to see stocks being replenished. Actually I was talking over my celfone at the counter when a guy across me with around 10 boxes started putting barcode stickers on the newly arrived stocks prompting me to replace my already paid copy with a better one since mine had creases all over. Sayang!! But on my way out, the alarm blared since the one I got was not de-barcoded. Kahiya. Akala tuloy ng guard nag-shoplift ako hahaha!!
The moral of the story is don't leave yet and wait a bit..Just don't get too excited like I was hehe..

You can get 3 DVDs na for PHP1,000.00 pero pag di napigilan later swipe na lang ulit heheheh...Seems that almost everyone was on leave yesterday to go DVD shopping a. I was planning din kaso pinili ko na lang Monday since Academy Awards.

Went back to check out the weekend crowd and see if I could luck into a copy of Episode 3 and FF 4. Nothing really new unfortunately. One of the Astro girls said that the crowds were pretty thin compared to previous sale weekends.
Was able to pickup the following at Php299:
- FF 4! (someone reserved but didn't pick it up last night, so when I asked for it, they handed it over)
- Predator 2 (2-disc SE)
- Kronk's New Groove
- Ice Princess
And from the budget DVD-5 pile:
- A couple of Bob the Builder discs at Php199 each
- Earthsea, Php199 (2-disc)
- Hotel, Php150 (a Mike Figgis film)

Oh man that sale day yesterday was hectic. ;) Like most of the people here, I wasn't able to get SW Ep.III. So I settled for the other DVDs in my list. Just got a few DVDs...which I already finished watching last night 'til the wee hours of the morning. ;D The only title on my "must buy" list I wasn't able to get was Angela's Ashes. :'( I already knew that Podium had only 1 copy left. Thinking that nobody would be interested in that title, medjo ngpalate ako. Haaaaaay.... Sino kaya dito nakakuha? ;D

Was able to get an answer as to why a lot of Viva's releases seem to be out of stock. Given the "difficult" market for original DVDs since mid-2004, they've been cutting back on volume imports. Apparently demand really spikes upwards during sale weekends, but they lose money on every copy sold. In other words, the distributors probably support these events just to reduce their inventory levels.
Viva's new strategy of bringing in smaller quantities and relying on reorders protects their interests, but it also creates an environment where DVD collectors will have to consider buying their DVDs at full price. Waiting for a sale doesn't assure that you'll be able to pick up copies at a discount. Heck you may not be able to find copies at all! Kingdom of Heaven, Day After Tomorrow, and The Incredibles are completely out of stock even at the Viva warehouse so no copies were available this weekend. SW Episode 3 and Fantastic 4 were highly sought after but there weren't enough copies to go around. Astro Podium claims they had less than 50 copies of SW E3, and nearly all of them were reserved Thursday night.

They performed songs from movies like Mission Impossible, Phantom of the Opera, Sister Act... Galing! The show is at 5PM at the 2nd level

They performed songs from movies like Mission Impossible, Phantom of the Opera, Sister Act... Galing! The show is at 5PM at the 2nd level

Anyway, I picked-up War of the Worlds (2 discs), Star Wars Ep 1 and Shark Tales yesterday. When I went to the sale last Friday, War of the Worlds (2-discs) and Star Wars Ep 1 were "out-of-stock" according to the sales ladies so I guess they do replenish some of the titles.
I asked for Mr. & Mrs. Smith again yesterday and they said they will only replenish this title after the sale is over.

bro. we are after the movie. 2 disc na rin sya. okey naman yung DVDs as well as the Cover print. My wife loved the movie kasi kya we decided to buy it na. Dati sa presyong P425, ayaw pa namin. pero nung P299 na lang, go na kami. ;)

They shouldn't have listed all the special features at back of the cover, that was really misleading and just plain wrong. Anyway 895 ung me special features? sure ka ba dun? kasi kung mga 475 lang papaltan ka sana noon, payag kaya sila na exchange ko yung nabili ko dagdagan ko na lang yung kulang.

Sir look at the ring at the back of the DVD, if there aretwo rings of bar code, then it is DVD9 if it is just one then it is DVD5.

They shouldn't have listed all the special features at back of the cover, that was really misleading and just plain wrong. Anyway 895 ung me special features? sure ka ba dun? kasi kung mga 475 lang papaltan ka sana noon, payag kaya sila na exchange ko yung nabili ko dagdagan ko na lang yung kulang.
I'm not sure if the P895 has the special features too. I think it's best that you ask the store to try the P895 and see if it indeed carries the special features that are missing from the P475. Hopefully, they'll allow for you to have it replaced, since there really is some form of misrepresentation (blatant?) on Sony or Magna's part.

I maybe jeopardizing my chances with F4 and Mr. & Mrs. Smith with this news but oh well, according to Astro Glorietta and Astro SM Makati, they will have a 3-day sale next weekend. The Viva rep I talked to said that selected Viva titles will be on sale for P299 including the 2 titles mentioned above. Sana naman kung makasama iyong F4 and Mr. & Mrs. Smith, may makonsensiya at may maabutan ako sa 2 iyan. :)

I myself have been looking for these titles, but The Bourne Supremacy lang yung available sa The Podium during their last sale. Wala silang The Bourne Identity, kaya hindi ko na rin binili yung The Bourne Supremacy. But it was on sale for 333. :)
