anyone here using the "special recipe", aside from me and Clondalkin?
notice some pixelation on some new mkv downloadables (e.g. moon, inglorious basterds*, gforce*HDEX)?
cant tell if theyre the same encoders since my inglorious basterds does not say who encoded it (katamad hanapin  )checked hdbits and found out that im not the only one having the issue, 2 na kami ..
anyways, since these new downloadables run fine on media player classic, i just use it (mplayer classic) to play "incompatible" mkvs.

Ninj. encodes by some scene groups particularly that HDEX s*cks under coreavc.  Yeah lots of pixellation. Switch to ffdshow or the media player's internal decoders under Preferences (F2) - instant effective solution - just dont forget to switch back to coreavc as default for the prime encodes.

ei thanks bro, does hitting F2 key again sets it to coreavc codec?
i was really upset and worried, 2 days ago while watchin inglorious basterds, i thought it was my PJ conking out early .. hahaha (looking for reasons to upgrade)  :D :D

F2 will just bring you to Preferences/Settings.  You have to set the preferred decoder (internal or external) on your own.  If ffdshow is not installed in your PC, KMP's internal codecs are fine.

There is a new (unstable) revision of the X.264 encode which is probably the root of the issue - and scene groups are always the most eager to adopt anything new.   It will be rectified for sure.  Makes you appreciate the quality of ffdshow even though it's not as efficient as coreavc.

You're not patient enough to wait for prime encodes instead of scene releases ne?    ;D

Makes me wonder how the media players (especially the recently released models) will handle those new encodes based on the latest X.264 version.   Paki-subok mga Bros.

the media players are handling those encodes without any issues ... i recently downloaded Inglourious Basterds and Tora Tora Tora ... both tiltles were pixelated when played using KM Player with CoreAVC ... i initially thought that the files were the issue .... when I tried both titles on TVIX and Xtreamer, there was no issue at all

then I had a  chance to read your post, then tried reverting to ffdshow codec ... both titles worked fine on KMplayer using ffdshow

by the way, i was previously using CoreAVC Pro 1.9.5 when i expereinced the problem

mukhang coreavc nga ang problema  :)
dami nako nakikitang "repack" encodes due to coreavc issues.

Kaso problema naman ang FFDshow for high video bitrate 1080ps, unless your CPU is very powerful.
Just keep both codecs installed and switch between the two whenever necessary.

Thanks for the info Raptor.   ;)

yup, i'll still be using CoreAVC for the high bit-rate titles ... some titles just won't work well without the coreavc kahit high end na yung CPU - i'm already using the quad-core Phenom II 965 and Radeon 4670 pero may problema pa rin yung ibang titles without coreavc, one sample is the Pacquiao-Cotto 5.8GB OSIRIS - stutter at di mag-sync yung audio pag hindi naka-coreavc

is there a way to easily toggle the kmplayer settings on changing codecs? medyo hassle din kasi to manually chang

Hintayin natin ang CoreAVC Ver 2.0.   :)

Meanwhile, no better choice but to toggle between CoreAVC and FFDShow.  I dont think there is an easier solution, or a less inconvenient procedure.   At least it is a very effective fix diba - kaya dont delete the pixellated new files as long as they play smoothly - walang exception kahit na gawa ng prime encoding groups ;)

The worst kind Ive seen recently (and deleted) are those new files that overwhelm the PC when you attempt to transfer them - transfer rate of nearly zero between internal drives, and the entire system is practically turned to zombie during the process.   Very very stuttery playback even at 720p and whatever codec you use.   WTH!

Raptor I still cant believe how your Tvix plays the BD files.   Very very nice indeed ;D

Both the movie files I mentioned above are only 720p, and both were newly downloaded.

(OT) Regarding the TVIX, ganda talaga sir ... I was not expecting it to play when I first tested it, but as you can see on the screenshots pati menu kayang-kaya ...kaya yung kinuha kong Xtreamer pang second tv lang at pag nagta-travel ...pag time na for upgrade i'll still be looking at the new TVIX models - from what i'm reading, mas pinaganda yung specs, sobrang mahal nga lang talaga

Sir Allan,

I installed the CoreAVC Pro 2.0 today ... good news ... all the pixelization issues from the 2 titles went away... now I do not have to switch back from one codec to another

Great news!  I got it also last night and will install tonight... ;D

It's supposed to be compatible with Windows 7 as well.  We'll see.   ;)

Gurus,

Does MSI wind12 U230 with L335 dual core 1.6GHz processor, 2gb RAM and ATI HD3200 graphics enough to play 1080p movies smoothly?

Thanks  :)

You can try installing KMPlayer with coreavc combo. My laptop CPU T2060 @ 1.6GHz with 1GB ram can play 1080p smoothly. ;)
