just seen the R1 gift set today. the set is bigger than the R3 release. dvd has a slipcase. the snowglobe's "glitters" are different from the R3 release. the toy train is plastic but can be run on the wooden railway system of brio.  not sure though if it has a locomotive function.

The Polar Express in 3-D

Warner Home Video has announced DVD ($20.97) and Blu-ray ($34.99) releases of  The Polar Express Presented in 3-D for release on the 28th October. A total of 4 sets of 3-D glasses will be included in each package, so the whole family can experience the magical journey to the North Pole together. Extras will include the standard 2D version of the film, a Smokey and Steamer Song not seen in theaters, featurettes (You Look Familiar: The many Polar faces of Tom Hanks, A Genuine ticket to Ride, True Inspirations: Profiling author Chris Van Allsburg, Believe: Josh Groban performance and behind the scenes), motion captured sessions, and the theatrical trailer. We'll bring you the official package artwork shortly.
