If you had one day to live, I don't think you'd be worrying your namby-pamby asses .
hold that thought and have a nice day ;D 8)

If anyone has one day to live I'd bet that he wouldn't be worrying about much of anything.Small stuff, big stuff, whatever stuff...Kinda changes one's perspective no?
Me?I'd probably worry about why my LOTR doesn't have DTS.hehe ;D

Have a nice day too. ;D ;D ;D
What's OC by the way?

Enjoy the R1 while you can kasi next batch daw ay R3 na talaga at hindi pa alam kung ano ang looks ng R3.

I think the reason behind this supply of R1 is that C Interactive may have realized that their R3 stocks will not meet their announced release date of August 6 (which hindi rin inabot ng R1 supply nila) so gumawa na sila ng paraan muna ang got stocks of R1 para hindi magalit ang mga tao (madami na nga daw naiinis last August 6 kasi di dumating ang DVD eh panay daw ang annoncement ng C Interactive).

I would think they either had very minimal or losses pa with the sale of the R1 instead of the R3.

Talk about having only one day to live, I guess I'd spend that day tinkering with this baby.

Well, that was a nice way of putting it. If that were the case, then we should all just get pirated copies. I believe the point of advancing technology is to get the best out of a product. The LOTR movie is probably the pinnacle of the Fantasy genre, and an extraordinary achievement to the art of special effects. We would be doing the director, its actors, its production people a gross disrespect if we were able to only appreciate a movie DVD that was not up to par with their vision of a tecnical masterpiece.
I am not a collector, but it matters that a DVD comes from a quality reliable source (these are usually, but not always, R1's), sealed, containing sound quality that the director wants us to hear and feel, visuals that match the productions' vision and an assurance that what you get is the best that storytelling has to offer. I'd spend my last waking second just to touch that.
Peace out, dudes. You have your own opinions and I respect that too, as much as I hope you'd respect mine.  ;D

Wala naman silang nasasabi but I doubt kung maglalabas ng R3 sa Pinas kasi medyo mahal na ang DVD eh so baka limited lang ang maibenta nila.

Pero who knows di ba. Who would have thought na R1 ang ibebenta nilang intial stocks, especially after all the negative feedback on C Interactive DVDs.

Obssesive-Compulsive  It's a trait among people who are usually successful....in fact ...most of the personalities(Einstein,Bell,Gates...yes...even Rizal) that  have contributed a lot to make this world a better place to be in are known to be  OC. ;) ;D ;

On the other hand at the far extreme part of the pole...those who despise people who have OC trait are best exemplified by ERAP. :o ;) ;D ;D

In Psychiatry of course....anything in excess is considered pathologic...hence...once control has been relinquished and the personality becomes affected and productivity impaired.......it's now called an Obssesive-Compulsive Personality Disorder...this is now totally different from the trait which is in a strict sense moderately needed in this life in order fro one  to become an achiever. ;

Now what side do you wanna be??? ;) ;D ;

CHEERS ::) ;D ;D ;) :-

VRB's pulling them out? But they have their stickers on them. Hehe. May "kuryente" din sa VRB, hindi kaya taga Malacanang yan? Nakikijoin lang.

Forget Legolas (Orlando Bloom), the man to watch in the dvd is Bret McKenzie, an elf extra in the Council of Elrond scene. He was only on the screen for three seconds ... and my, what a presence !

Legolas looks kinda cool to me. He's the coolest among all the characters, including Aragon (who most girls dig), and I think it's partly because of the hair.  ;D

My office mate just went to Astrovision in Galleria and said that the R1 DVDs have been pulled out. But the sales person said you could still haggle for your copy at Megamall branch although they are not doing this openly anymore. Shucks. :-\

LOTR R1 will return to stores
« Reply #136 on: Aug 09, 2002 at 01:36 PM »
Good news! I received word from the owner of Astrovision that yesterday's LOTR "raid" was due to a filing error and a timing issue. The confiscated copies will be returned to the stores as early as this weekend. He emphasized that the R3 release will not be distributed here in the near future since all stocks in the warehouse are R1.

Apparently, C-Interactive was able to get approval for the R1 version from the VRB, presumably with the blessings of New Line Cinema whom they represent exclusively in the Philippines.

So, is C-Interactive the official distributor of New Line titles or is it just for LOTR? Can we expect more R1s to be locally available or is this just a one time deal or is this a rare event?

There's no question that C-Interactive's gonna make a lot of money from their release of LOTR. Maybe this will inspire them (and others) to do the same.

my dad bought a copy at Astro, sm fairview today bago sya umuwi...  ;D tumawag muna ako sa Astro nung umaga pero sabi nila wala na raw silang stock... nagulat nga ako nung nakabili ang dad ko sa kanila... siguro naninigurado lang sila na hindi official ng vrb yung tumatawag...  ??? sabi ng dad ko, tinatago raw nila yung mga DVD... you have to ask pa for you to be able to buy one... mga 2 copy pa yata yung natitira as of now... sana tuluy-tuloy na ito sa mga future releases ng new line...  :)

in short, binili ko na agad, P1,200.  i'll be watching it tonight para ma-check ang quality.

I went to Astrovision Megamall this morning.

Yup it is back on the shelves of Astrovision.

BTW, Astro just opened a new branch at the Podium in Ortigas.  And it's HUGE!!!  Aside from the videos and games they also have HT equipment!

While waiting for my supplier to deliver my LOTR DVDs, I contented myself with the VHS tapes. (I can't stand VCD pixels). And to my surprise and delight, I saw that there were some scenes added that I didn't see during the December advanced screenings. No earth-shattering moment, but an angle of Sauron that wasn't there before, a new view of the firecracker going up into the sky, an additional close-up of Gandalf as he listens to Saruman---and I went, "Hey, this ain't bad after all!"
