;D Same here. I also went to Astrovision in Mega to verify the delay and so far the people there are not hinting on any delays to the release. They said to me out right...it's  coming out in Aug. 6. So for those of you who are getting the R3 release...please update us once you've gotten it.  8)

Hi Guys, have you read the posts at LOTR R3 thread...

It looks like Astrovision is selling LOTR R1 DVDs (Widescreen) for only P1200.

Does this mean the start of R1 DVDs breaking into the Philippine market?
How come these R1 LOTRs came out in the open?
shuffle up and deal!

I'm not sure if it's the start or it's just an exception since New Line Cinema is not known for distributing R3 DVDs or at least they rarely do. And since they have a wide market base here of fans and collectors who would not just settle for the pirated copies, I guess they realized, what the heck....let's sell some of our copies to them. It's still money. And at least we don't have to spend extra on sorting and distributing discs of a different encoding. (from the point of view of the manufacturer)
Because of this, this is good news for us!!!!!!!!!!! As most of us know....R3 counterparts usually suck.

hopefully the astro staff informed  buyers of the R1 LOTR that if they have R3 locked player, the disc may not play.  :)

Tanoreion  Kindly browse thru the Region 3 DVD Forum and go thru the R3 and R1 Thread similarities.

Most of the titles now available are comparable and in fact at least 2 are better( Eyes Wide Open and Crouching Tiger...) than the R1 counterpart. ;)

Anybody tried it on a Region3 locked player?

Kutob ko lang, these disks although labeled R1 could be coded for both R1 & R3.

I have a question. Are the R1 LOTR sold in Astrovision sealed with the white seal of guarantee on the top, right and lower sides of the case and does it come with a booklet of coupons valid only in the US or Canada? As we know....DVDs, Playstation 1 & 2 games, XBOX DVDs, DVD Audio and Audio CDs for the US market always have this special seal. I even bought a CD opener once in HMV. This allows you to cut through the seal without having to try to peel it off.  ::)

I have to commend the ASTRO Staff for this...this was the very first thing they told me when I inquired if they have the LOTR DVD...the Salesperson simply said..."Yes Sir...But it's only REGION 1....It won't play in a Region 3 player." ;) ;D

I suppose kumpleto rin, including the ant-theft security device... yung r1 lotr ko (from ebtgmike), nag-alarm pa nang pumasok ako ng abenson. nagulat nga yung babaeng guard.  ;D

Gaol  The significant thing about your copy is that the Anti-Theft device was not deactivated. :-\

My copy has that ATSD incorporated and when I left Astro...the alarm didn't sound off. ;)

JT  Per  telecon with Vojdiaz...his copy has the raffle sticker to New Zealand.....seems like some has and others like mine doesn't...hmmm...could it be that the distributors themselves penned their names on some of  the raffle coupons??? anyway..as long as I have the DVD..COOL...and I do hope they win too....since this copy of mine is a real winner ;) ;D ;D ;D

I would like to comment on how anal some people can be regarding their dvds. I mean, do you really need to keep those white seals on the disc to know that it is a region 1 disc?  I sure hope people buy the disc for the movie and not the frills that come attached with it. That's the problem with people these days...always sweating on the small stuff.

It's the small stuff that makes collecting fun don't you agree redherring. Some collectors can be too meticulous but it also guarantees them that they will be happy with their purchase.I for one would be very suspicious if an R1 doesn't have a security seal on top unless it's a slip or specially made case. ;D It may be small stuff for you but a big deal for us. ;D ;D ;D
I do sometimes buy the DVD for their excellent case even though the movie sucks.

ok,ok....so sorry to all you overly sensitive people out there. But you must admit, all of you are OC. There are more important things in life than worrying about the small stuff. If you had one day to live, I don't think you'd be worrying your namby-pamby asses whether the dvd was region 1, region 3, code-free, widescreen, fullscreen, thx enhanced, dolby EX , and what have you.
hold that thought and have a nice day ;D 8)

If you knew you had 1 day to live, wouldn't you prefer to live it in the best way possible?

Mamamatay ka na nga the following day, mapapanood mo pa ay mga ewan na DVD.

Parang last meal din yan, siyempre sasarapan mo na di ba.  Alangan namang galunggong ang pipiliin mong last meal.  Though these small stuff won't matter when your dead, eh at least you enjoyed it while it lasted.

So balik LOTR tayo...

I guess the reason why may stocks na may New Zealand trip promo at mayroon na wala was may more than 1 source ang C Interactive.  Baka iba galing sa US, iba galing sa Canada.  Naniguro lang siguro din siya na may darating siyang stocks.
