Hi,

Is it ok to buy surge protector, avr here in the us and use it in Phil.?

If it's designed to work for US 240V, it's ok. US 240V is actually balanced (like our 220V), unlike most other 230/240V implementations.  However, the chance of you finding a surge protector for this is close to nil. This is because they use these outlets for dryers, water heaters, ranges, air conditioning, and other high power devices.

If you're planning to get a 120V surge protector, it'd work best if you'd be using it in a 110V outlet here. Make sure that you have neutral and live properly wired (I've seen many local homes with this inverted). Remember that the wide blade is neutral, and the narrow blade is live. If your home has proper grounding, select a surge protector with a ground.
