Firmware already updated can now play more than 2 hours of video just confirmed with avatar (2.5hrs) and lords of the rings (3.5hrs) that has a file size of 3gb & 8gb respectively.  Only problem I noticed though is when playing avi files hindi siya smooth parang may talon talon though audio has no problem. Naka encounter ba kayo ng ganitong issue? Just want to validate if this is normal (avi of 1gb up ang size) or a result of the upgrade? thanks

customer service ka tumawag sir?

bagal no change . . .still verifying though if the jugger effect if using avi is due to the upgrade or inherent in the system. . . .perhaps if you could try an avi file 2gb up ang filesize (lord of the rings or final fantasy spirits within lng avi file ko 8.5gb & 2.5gb respectively) if smooth mag play pag smooth yan then maybe its due to the FW. . .please post if did tried it. tia

hindi pa kasi ako nakapagplay ng 2 hours movie, pinagiisipan ko kung papaupgrade ko, baka kasi lalong masira.

Tumawag ako sa customer service, hindi nila alam ang firmware upgrade  :o :o

Hi Sir Roy128 at Sir Isamu...Under warranty pa naman unit ko...Last Dec 2010 ko lang binili...Pareho tau Sir Roy128 kasi pinagiisipan ko pa...kasi nung first week nitong tv sa akin sinubukan ko manuod ng movie which is braveheart...almost 3gb ang size at mga 2.5 hours ang length ng movie...nung pagpatak ng ika 2 hours ng movie nagstop..inulit ko tapos nagstop ulit..tapos nung nabasa ko itong forum tinry ko ulit...ok naman..di na tumigil...medyo weird..I called LG customer service tapos kahapon nakausap ko ung technician...di din sila aware sa upgrade about sa tv...tatawagan daw ako ulit...tingin niyo would it be a wise decision na magupgrade pa or wag na?kasi ang nakikita kong solution is magplay na lang ng movie gamit ang either laptop or desktop ko..tapos ang advantage pa nun eh pwede ma tweak ang settings ng screensize, etc depende sa player na nasa desktop or laptop...Though may isang disadvantage which is syempre power consumption which i think minimal lang..hehehe...

Thanks po!

Hi,

Just requested LG to return my unit to original firmware why, though it corrected the mp4 2 hrs issue it creates another problem with avi files(jugger effect, refer to my prevous post and confirmed this already) and that is maybe the reason why they are holding all firmware upgrade till they resolve the issue  . . . . . yes you can play mts & m2ts files with your laptop, mp4 limit it to 2gb file size the rest our unit can handle with no issues provided audio is not DTS. Another issue which is my opinion personally (diff person has different appreciation) new FW lacks the color depth (3D effect) the orig FW so decided to return it to orig FW. . . . that is just me but 1 technician say he could not recognize it or barely but that slight difference matters to.

btw orig FW is 3.3.24 while new version is 9.0.0

Hi,

This happens only to mp4 format with more than 2gb file size and more than 2 hrs and 3mins of playtime. Solution for me never use mp4 format with playback time of more than 2 hrs . . . most of HD movies are at matroska and m2ts format anyway

try sights and sounds, 4th flr, shangrila mall, or 2 more shops at the 5th flr. you can go visit those shops and look around, compare their prices and offers, and you get to see up close and choose between the units you just mentioned. window shop lang po muna . . . basa basa dito then decide. good lak!

naku tumawag pa naman ako sa service center nila tapos baka next week daw bibisita sila for the firmware upgrade.  ganun ba talaga kalala? ok lang naman saken ang depth eh. at my nmt naman ako. gusto ko lang sana makatipid ng kuryente by using the stand alone player.

At least 5 series or higher. then there must be a letter C on the model number. C's are 2010 models and can play DTS files.
B series are 2009 models and can't decode DTS. Hope that helps.
Go to SNS, they have many model and sizes to choose from. And most important of all, they have great customer service.

Anybody have any issues with MKV files and subtitles?  The MKV file I'm watching is supposed to have the subtitles encoded into the file.  The subtitles can be viewed (or disabled) when watching on the PC.  However, on the 37ld460, subtitles won't show.  I can't seem to enable them.

Help?  ???

Again, the subtitle is not a seperate file, it's supposed to be imbedded into the mkv container.

Di nga ata nababasa subtitle sa LD 460 when using USB, wala nga subtitle pero sa laptop meron. Sa remote walang subtitle button pero when using pioneer dvd player pag press ng subtitle sa remote ng dvd player meron na.

No subtitle feature... Hmm... that's what I feared.  Well, I'm currently trying out Ripbot264 to hardcode the subtitles to my Anime MKV.  It just takes really long to mux.

toxoviper,
I tried to use RibBot264 to trans-code and disable the p-frame prediction (wpredp=0), but it always prompts back to the default wpredp=2. How do you disable this encoding setting and save it? This was what's causing pixelation when played through my BD player.
Also, how long does it take you to encode a 2.5-3GB file?
Thanks!

Unfortunately, I'm not an expert with video muxing and stuff.  I just follow the guides in other forums.  Ripbot was recommended for the subs hardcoding.  I don't know if it's good for other features.

A 2gb file took me 5 hours on my old dual core laptop.  That was loooong.

Thanks! Anyways, I tried avidemux to re-encode and disable p-frames, and it worked out fine. FYI, p-frame is a parameter that controls fading when there's motion on the frames-- I believe it's an interpolation function to predict movements and smooth it out. But then it creates more problems on some players. Even with quad-core processors, I believe it'd still take a long time to encode.

I've tried watching HD movies in a dark room.  Medyo bright, but maybe it's because of the dark room?  I just adjust the video settings so that it doesn't hurt my eyes.

For xbox360, I noticed that you should set the resolution of the TV to Just Scan in order to get the full screen to fit.
