Just got back from What Hifi and got to extensively test the Rega DAC with a lot of gear combinations I'm familiar with. I take back saying that rega sounded dynamic. It's more tube-y. Meaning it's relaxed, laid-back and warm. What I like was the really crisp sound. Reverberation is also limited, meaning the sound decay was tight not just in low frequencies. I assume that's something good for untreated rooms. Not sure. Overall, I feel like Rega wanted to simulate the tube sound in this DAC. If you want a more dynamic presentation, it's not for you, but if you like that "malambing" sound of tubes, then this is a great DAC for you.
