Sir Jim...thanks for the info. Sorry for my ignorance, but when you say "run thumbgen," is this a website or is it a program on the player to access to run the process?
And does this work on the R180 as well?
a. The app runs on your PC. download here
http://thumbgen.org/ what it does is to traverse your directories (at minimum, the folder containing your movies should be as close to the movie title), generates the thumbnail and poster.jpg/about.jpg.
b. I dock the disk or access the network share of the HD containing the movies, pero best if you attach muna locally in a dock (eSATA/USB 3) for faster acccess but USB 2.0 is fine as well.
c. i also run its companion thumbgen designer (only if you need to customize beyond the default settings)
I resized and relayout the summary and increase the text font size para mas maganda sa S900,
i also customized it so that the cover.jpg so when i navigate spashes pictures that are of better resolution. kasi the default is much smaller jpeg that when stretched is fugly.
YOu can put say -- "Egreat logo" at the lower right corner (i think gif also works so you can remove the white background ng egreat logo.
It works with R180 as well, since it runs Red Times UI, by default its list, you can go thumbnail, or in its place go File manager and hit Yellow button to switch to coverart.
here's a sample, i made my about files all 1080p para puno ang screen.
Ito pa another idea, you can also :
a. copy all about.jpg to the autoPhoto folder (you can rename about.jpg to foldername.about.jpg, or search about.jpg, then copy to a single folder (when asked by windows 7, click retain both files, and tick "do for all XX items")
b. enable autoplay -> photo so that it cycles all your movies every 10 seconds, my wife loves that feature kasi may makikita siya na di pa nya napapanood and we all know pictures + info are worth a thousand words and more
