i have a lot of home photo and home video stuff across the disks and i finally found all of them and move them to a central location. I used PIcasa 3 to face detect, i used Explorer XP to check duplicate folders and files and check via scripts which are legit duplicates. move them into folders like so:

2012 2012-01
2012-02
2012-03
..
2012-12

i might let go of the 2nd 8-bay once done.

For the pictures,
hit and miss din via script (check folder names ex: YYYY-MM-DD*) so I ended up, just flattening all folders in one level for each month, then use the totalizer per folder ng ExplorerXP. then i side by side mo yung suspected folders of the same size, if the date takens are the same, overwrite the other folder with conviction.

For the videos, mas madali kasi sizes are more pronounced, given the size (in GB), sa MB ng picture, bigger chances na mawalan ka ng pictures if you just base it on folder sizes.

Sa excel ko i-paste yung ExplorerXP file info text of the two differing folders,
use driveletter to tag each folder para di nakakalito,
then sort by folder name. and compare the folder sizes.
in the end, its the Date taken that's really important sa photos, kasi photos can be renamed and still contain the same. but visually picasa 3 helps kasi it has a open containing folder.

You can also put the directory listing to a text file.

Go to command prompt on the folder then type dir > list.txt import the file to excel use a Beyond Compare 3 software to compare a to file just right click the file to compare.
