Can any owner confirm if the A400 has Full BD Navigation in 2D/3D or kahit 2D lang - same as the A2XX series?  Thank you.

^same here. I've been reading on some other forums and from what I gather, I don't think it supports it. Though would prefer if someone here actually confirms it.

It would be a deal breaker for me in getting an A400 if it doesn't since the primary reason I switched to an a210 from a realtek based NMT was because of Full BD navigation.

Baka hindi muna sir Fernan. I'm ok with the Egreat R300 pro(Realtek 1186 chip) ;D
Saka kung may problema pa talaga sa Cinavia better option ang Realtek 1186 because its cheaper and PQ is also very good na...

Ang realtek ba ala cinavia issue like egreat?

uy VXP processor na, well worth the wait. Hope Cinevia is "addressed"

If you are still in the market, do check out reviews ng Qdeo based (from Marvell), i've seen one run and its worth looking into.

Since Simple BD mode lang ang kaya ng Realtek (pls feel free to correct me if this has been addressed with the 1186), that means BDJ is not enabled and therefore, REKTA yung playback to the main feature alone.  By doing that, it is possible that all sorts of Bluray protection - Region Lock (especially) and perhaps even Cinavia are bypassed.  However, I've seen contents that Cinavia protection was bypassed successfully by Simple BD mode, however, meron naman Playlist Lock (I dont know if that is still related to Cinavia or a totally different protection scheme) - that the only way to fix is to revise the Playlist sa BD Structure.

What exactly do you guys observe kapag Cinavia protected anyways?  What I saw was the screen switched to "this is not an authorized copy..blah blah blah" after around 10 mins but the audio continued- so unwatchable na dahil the screen is fixed to that message. Then I switched to Simple BD and that screen never appeared...but the playlist was messed up.

And does Cinavia protection apply to all new Bluray releases?  Nalilito rin ako that's why Im itching to test an A400 and see what it can or cannot do.  For instance does Cinavia require BOTH the player and the media to be Cinavia'd to be effective -  OR, as long as the player (hardware) implements Cinavia, then it will make all "unauthorized" BD duplicates unplayable even those released prior to Cinavia? Ganon ba yon?

Anyhow, I got to spend a good amount of time during the weekend checking Full BDs and without BDJ (Full BD Nav among others), I think it really sucks - especially if you like BD concerts and you encounter seamless branching BDs - no way to play via Simple BD alone.

Im still hoping that the A400 will have BDJ but I dont know if that is even possible.

Got one last Friday.. (thanks Ert for updating the FW. Saved me some time and effort). When I got home, I immediately installed my WD 3TB, very easy to do. A couple of screws here and there and it was all set.

One thing I noticed after turning it on, note I used the same HDMI cable I used for my xtreamer PRO, every time I hit the “OK” button as I progress using the setup wizard, my vsx522 and my a400 keep on reengaging with this “HDMI handshake.” Very annoying.  But after using the supplied cable, it all went away.

Now, on to the meat of the order: I played a full HD copy of TDKR and it was breathtaking. Although my eyes are not expertly trained to review the video quality, I’d say, coming from an Xtreamer PRO which I rated just for this specific film (5 out of 10), I am giving this an 8.5, even a 9. Not to take anything away from the TV I am using (50VT30), I just did not expect the improvement to be this noticeable.

After that, I played Collateral (1080p) and it did not disappoint. I noticed in this scene where Vince’s (Tom Cruise) first kill of the night fell on the roof of Max’s cab (Foxx), It was much more smoother, clearer,  and had very minimal jagged edges. Colors were great, of course.

With 3D, I tested TRON (half SBS), and it was okay. It didn’t really WOW me, given the fact that it was my first player that can play 3D. I don’t have any Full 3DBD copies, so I guess I wouldn’t know what it would look like since I don't have the resource to test the full 3D potential of the a400.

Lastly, I streamed Transformers 3: Dark of the Moon (full HD, Dolby TrueHD) from the living room using my newly replaced Xtreamer Pro through LAN (I don't do wireless, don't find it reliable.. yet!) with no A/V stutter.

NMJ was great even though my iPad doesn't recognize any of the FanArts (probably an app issue).

One of two problems I have, I was wondering if any of the users here can help me out. Every time I plug the a400  to a power source (in my case, turn the extension w/surge protector switch ON), the NMT automatically powers up (White Light). Like I don’t have to turn it ON which kind of messes up my Harmony Activity.  I turn it off by holding the Power Button till the red light starts to blink, unplug it after it has completely powered down (No lights). Any tips?

Another would be the subtitle placement which one update was suppose to address. It’s still on top of the picture instead of the black band below.

Other than that, overall, i'd give it an 8.5 out of 10 for it's very young, four FW update career. I can only assume it will continue to get better.

Btw, I think I have a Full BD copy of LOTR, I'll test it out in my next free time. I guess what most are after are the " BD menu(s)" for BD navigation?

Hope in a way, this helps!

@Sir Allan, let me know what weekday you’ll be available, I can lend you the a400 from the 27th to the 28th so you can fully test it. =)

Never unplug Tsip - unless there is lightning storm perhaps.  That's how the older PCH A2xx behaves as well - and I had to explain to my wife that thoroughly because she experienced handshaking problems among the HDMI connected devices kapag sinaksak sa plug yung adapter ng A400 and hindi pa established yung signal flow between the AVR and/or the HDTV via HDMI.   The A400 should consume very very little power during standby mode anyways so hindi mo ikahihirap yon - and then you simply press the power button sa remote everytime you want to use the A400.

If you really like unplugging from the power outlet all the time (that's a Pinoy in the Philippines thing ne - hehehe), make sure to turn on the AVR and the TV first para buo na yung connection (video passthrough) between the 2 and then tsaka mo palang isaksak yung A400 - that will complete the circuit from the A400 to the AVR to the HDTV (via HDMI - I suppose that's how you are connected).

Tip.  Instead of pressing the Power Button like forever (hehehe), you can also turn off the unit by simply pressing Power Button and Delete na magkasunod....prevents your thumb from possible blisters...hehehe.   Tapos, if you simply want to replace the HDD, goto main menu, highlight the USB icon (or whatever icon corresponds to the HDD connected), then press File Mode sa Remote Control and it will prompt you to disconnect (safely) that specific USB device.  So no need to power down the unit (and re-initilize) if magpapalit ka ng HDD - very safe, very fast, very reliable.

BTW, when you tested the "Full HD" movies, did the Full BD Menu appear or it just played straight to the beginning of the movie?  Oh, when you wrote "Full HD", do you actually mean Remux in MKV with HD-audio?

Barter trade?  Ive got some delicious Japanese chocolates that your Wife and loved ones will surely love - among other things.  hehehe.  Malapit ka nga ba sa Pasig area or you live in the South?

Its .mkv sir.. I just tried my BD copy of The Departed, it only opens the folders inside (ANY!; META; Certificates). Doesnt give me the option to play it. Also tried my LOTR w/similar result.

Before, with my Pro, i get the same thing when I hit "OK" but when I press "play", it goes straight to the movie.

Walang problema yun Sir. I'm from QC, I pass by C5 naman on my way to work sa The Fort.. Maybe we can meet there.

Pls check the Main Menu sa System Settings and look for BD NAVIGATION tab (or something that means similar), if any - hopefully meron.  Then pls try if you can enable Simple BD + AVCHD (Folder Play), or even better,  Full BD Navigation.

If you're only getting the folders inside the BD Structure when you press Enter or Play on a Full BD content, go to BDMV/Stream folder and look for the largest m2ts file and press/play that.  Problem is Im not sure if the A400 shows the sizes of the individual m2ts within the Stream folder...at any rate, it's not a nice way of handling Full BDs - that's like 2008-2009 first gen NMT.

Wag naman sanang .ISO lang ang kaya nyang i-play ng derecho.

Uy you pass through SM Hypermart along C5 daily?  Thats like 10 mins away from home via Eagle Street (Sandoval)...hehehe
