Will the newer 2013 plasmas still need to be broken in?

I've never done any "aging" on any of my previous and current plasmas and I have no idea whatsoever what I have missed.

I havent seen such thing in any of Panasonic's catalogues and website, but I know some people are talking and asking about it.

ang di ko lang maintindihan is the break in period... ano yung "slides" na sinasabi nila na kelangan mo i run for 100hrs?

Hindi na required ang break-in procedure sa plasma ngayon.

1. Break in helps prevent burn-in (BI) issues.  But plasma TVs don't have BI issues anymore.
2. Most plasma TVs still have image retention (IR) issues.  But break-in does nothing to prevent IR.

Hindi kailangan ang break-in procedure.  All you need to do is minimize the display of static images.  If you can't avoid displaying static images, get an LCD/LED.

mga master,, ano ba maganda plasma ngayon na 50" to 60" ang size?. eto mga spec na gusto ko.

1. Full HD but not smart tv or 3D..
2. Full HD smart tv without 3D. kung wala talaga full HD lang.
3. Good picture quality similar dun sa VT at ST models ng panasonic
4. Best price or bang for the buck.
5. panasonic, lg, sharp are the brands i have now in mind

another question is meron na bang LED ngayon na kayang sumabay sa mga plasma in terms of picture quality? but not too pricey. ang naudition ko before is yung 47" LGLM6700. Ok yung picture quality nya. halos parang plasma na rin.. kaya lang ang ayoko dito ay smart tv at 3d.. for now ndi ko pa gusto ang 3d tv. yung smart tv naman. ok lang din. pro ndi necessary..

Thanks in advance and more power to pinoydvd.

the Samsung 51F5000 fits your criteria! it's a Full HD plasma tv without 3D and Smart TV features. it's priced at 47,997 at Abensons (+ free 28F4000 LED tv and 5k discount if cash). its picture quality bests the lesser 4 series plasmas and is almost as good as the 8 series plasma tvs!  ;)

doing research now on plasma.. seems like this is a totally new beast to own...

ang di ko lang maintindihan is the break in period... ano yung "slides" na sinasabi nila na kelangan mo i run for 100hrs?

specifically for the vt60 model...

but i might get a plasma soon..

Sir eto po regarding sa break in at burn-in issue... Although 2012 pa yun article pero baka makatulong sa mga tulad natin plasma user at may plan to buy a plasma...

This article is not accurate.

The author is talking about temporary image retention when he says "image persistence":

Here's the most important fact about image persistence: unless you're overtly negligent, it's easily reversible. With what magic, you ask? Easy, just watch TV. Yep, that's it. Just go back to your regularly scheduled programming (full-screen, non-letterboxed television) and it will go away by itself. Just due to being used, the phosphors will get back in line. Depending on the severity of the image persistence, it may take a few minutes or a few hours to go away.

He thinks the temporary IR is caused by phosphors.  That's why he says, "Just due to being used, the phosphors will get back in line."

Temporary IR is not caused by phosphor burn, it's merely caused by a residual charge in the plasma cells.  After some time, the residual charge goes away.  This allows the charge in all cells to equalize, causing the retention to disappear.

However, uneven phosphor aging is permanent, and you can't restore phosphors to their pre-burn state.

Decided to watch Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol this afternoon on my brand new LG PH660V 50" 3D Plasma. What a treat that was, blacks were infinite, yet with superb shadow detail. I defy any Pioneer Kuro or Panasonic Plasma to look any better. The blacks were even darker that the borders above and below the image.

I might get the LG 50PN4500 later this year. the picture quality is acceptable for me (better than Samsung 4 series plasma). I have a Full HD 3D projector already, so the plasma will be used for standard definition cable viewing only. :)  I'll just use the money I saved on other AV stuff instead.  ;)

Purchased it here in the UK. £590 50". Image is just as good as any Kuro or later edition Panasonic.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Note that the above photos were taken in broad daylight with my curtains open.
I just finished watching Total Recall (2012) in full darkness and the hairs on my arms stood up, the image was that good.

i bought this 1080p plasma a few weeks back. my only concern then was the reflective screen while in the showroom. but it wasnt much of an issue when placed in my den as my windows are located only on one side of the room.

prior to purchase, i did a side by side comparison with a 1080p 50" LG LED at abensons and despite the prodding of the salesman for the LED i chose the plasma. picture quality is a lot better. skin tone is more natural. no motion stuttering. wider viewing angles. all in all video reproduction is much better even with animation movies.

additional advantage i got a big PC monitor for the 28"LED freebie. samsung tv was able to decode dts audio unlike LG and Sony, so at times i watch downloaded movies sans receiver.

also was able to find this link for its calibration which i utilized.

About this time last year biglang naglabasan yung mahiwagang 2011 50VT30 sets sa local sellers.   Maski sana yung highly rated 2012 50ST50 models ay dumating man lang (kahit i-dump like the VT30s last year) soonest.  Maganda pa rin kahit itabi sa 2013 ST60.

65 inch ST60 at Best Buy  - plus tax of course.  So hindi rin pala $1,500  ;D.  Pero kung tourist or temporary visitor ka, you can refund the tax sa customs desk ng high end department stores or at the airport mismo - problema mo nga lang iuwi - might be cheaper to have it sent via door to door - i heard it's like $60 up to 67 inches plus $7 per additional inch (total dimension ng shipping box).  Kung 65 inch, aabot siguro ng $500 or more ang shipping.

If you are actually in the US on a temporary visitor visa.  (B1/B2).   Maski sa Japan and the EU ay ganoon ang common policy in regards duty/tax exemption.

Pagkabili mo puede ka nang pumunta agad sa tax/duty refund counter kung saan man available or located.

You must refund before you leave the US.  Sa mga medyo high-end malls like Galleria, meron tax refund counter somewhere in there (dahil ang daming high-end stores in that mall).    Yung mga chachi (cheap) malls ay wala.  Maski Best Buy ay wala.  Pero you can also use the counter sa high-end malls.  Kung wala ka nang chance to do that, your last chance is the tax refund counter sa airport.

You have to show the receipt o kors (proof of purchase) and your passport.

Haven't tried on small purchases yet, but I think there should be no exception except for food, consumable stuff or items that you won't bring out of the US.   The key is to show the OR (proof of purchase) and your passport (to prove your status). Doesn't apply to big electronic items only.   I've refunded on a bag purchase within the Galleria Mall.

Yeah, napatalon ako when the announcement was made!  Malamang Japanese visa would be waivered for all Asians at least during the 2020 Olympics.

No need to show the item sa airport - especially if the item is inside your checked-in luggage

But I didnt realize til now that sales tax refund is a state matter and not a Federal Govt concern - complexities of the USA.  I can confirm Texas because I did my shopping and refund in Houston.  I guess you just have to ask the store wherever you are.
