looking good OBR! finally, the gears will be set up soon and that's the next thing to look forward to. congrats! ;D

Thanx nolax, I'll be having a little break as from next week, going to have a holiday before the house is completed. HT will be on hold till we return so I've got 6 days to cram in as much as I can   :)

Wednesday Aug. 13th
Things didn't go quite to plan today, arrived on site to find the door makers modifying the HT door frame. They made the allowance for the rubber sealing strip on the wrong faces of the frame, more work for the decorators. That coupled with the baseboard repairs (over zealous fitting of the carpet gripper) means the HT room will be complete this weekend except for the electrics & air con. unit. Monday will be my last day before we have our holiday so hopefully fit the speaker brackets then & maybe the front high speakers. I managed to clean the carpet except for the seat riser which is covered due to the work being done on the door frame. I also cleaned the cables, I made the mistake of not keeping the cables covered all the time. It was not so much the sanding dust but sealant that was plastered on them but all OK now.
In case anyone is wondering what the hole in the middle of the seat riser front face is for, it will house the power supply for the LED step lighting & will be covered by a black grille.
The orange flexible conduit underneath the screen mount is the cable for the door bell light/buzzer or both (haven't decided yet. In case we're all in the HT I thought we ought to have some notification of visitors  :)

Stage - right hand side.

Stage - left hand side.

Looking towards right seat riser steps from the stage.

Looking towards left seat riser steps from the stage.

Hi Nolax, for me just enough contrast between the 2 reds to be acceptable  ;D.
A comment from the wife "this would look good in the bedroom". Whatever have I let myself in for ?   >:D

Thanx Jen, I was well excited yesterday, I thought I could get all the speaker brackets fitted but they'll have to wait a couple of days. At this stage I didn't want to take a holiday but need to get a break in before the house is complete. I didn't like the idea of leaving all the gears in the house before the security system was up & running.

OBR, I know you have acoustic treatment inside those walls but I was under the impression that the final layer will be acoustic panels or fabric like what I usually see here in the gallery section.

Would the gypsum board have the same effect as fabric?

Hi sovrain, it was meant as a bit of a joke  ;D ;D ;D. having spent a bit of time in the room I think my colour tastes may have changed. I just hope my listening tastes haven't changed otherwise I'll be on the upgrade trail sooner than I thought    >:D.

Hi larokulit, there is no acoustic treatment inside the walls it's all soundproofing. The acoustic panels will be fitted to the walls & once I am happy I will have the walls fabric covered on top of the panels.
Gypsum board will reflect sound but acoustic fabric will allow sound to pass through. Hope that answers your question.

Sounds OK to me, I'll be doing a bit more research this time. I know an interior designer & I'll probably get her to put together a few colour schemes for me to look at but all suggestions are welcome, they'll give me food for thought.

Thanx Gino, I'm really pleased with the way it's turned out considering it's a 1st time effort. It's also been a big learning curve. Probably the the biggest mistake was not researching materials availability here, had I known the difficulties I would have shipped some of the materials from the UK. Still that's all in the past & now looking forward to completing the room & reaping the benefits of my efforts   ;D ;D ;D

Can I add more... The soundproofing inside the wall is also part of the acoustic treatment, it's main function is to decouple the room from  adjacent rooms or areas. The acoustic panel types also varies depending on specific location required for treatment it's either peak or dip of certain frequency that needs attenuation or diffusion ..
