I was in my home office early this morning checking emails, surfing the web & watching highlights on ESPN when my 11 yr old son decided to "chill" & hang out, he asked me if we could listen to an album that has become his "album of the month", it was Lorde's - Pure Heroine in .flac files. I have heard "Royals" & "Team" countless of times on FM radio but it was the first time I was able to listen to the entire album.
My Alpair 10Ps are fully burned in & has about 200+ hours on them so we can cranked up the volume the way kids love to listen to songs. Like most pop albums nowadays, Pure Heroine seems to have forgotten about the mid range frequencies, a lot of bass & highs + Lorde's not so pleasant voice. I can see the excursion of the 10P's cone & was surprised it handled the bass well. What made the album enjoyable to listen to (aside from the catchy tunes & beat) was Lorde's songwriting, she mostly sings about where she came from, the environment she grew up in and you can sense truthfulness in the lyrics.
I mostly listen to jazz, vocals, acoustic & classical nowadays, it was a good break from the norm & good bonding experience with my "nagbibinata" son. The 10Ps can handle most type of music but they shine best when listening to well recorded albums. They are revealing & exposes the "flaws" of the music material, some of the stuff you listen to before might not be that enjoyable with the 10Ps.
