The Knick

The Knick is a television drama series on Cinemax directed by Steven Soderbergh and starring Clive Owen. It looks at the professional and personal lives of Dr. John W. Thackery (played by Owen) and the staff at New York's Knickerbocker Hospital during the early part of the twentieth century. The series was created and written by Jack Amiel and Michael Begler, who also function as producers and executive producers. Gregory Jacobs, Clive Owen, Steven Soderbergh, and Michael Sugar are also executive producers. Michael Polaire is the producer and David Kirchner is the associate producer. The show premiered on Cinemax on August 8, 2014.

I enjoyed the first 2 episodes. Definitely on my watch list now.

the soundtrack reminds me of the one used in Traffic. Still, i'm hooked.

Eve Hewson playing Nurse Lucy is quite lovely.

This series is a little known gem. Very intriguing medical drama.  A nice glimpse in the early days of medical (mal)practices. It's quite graphic and only makes the experience real. Fascinating to see how they do things back then knowing how it is done now. Just throw away what you know and engage this tv show head on. Can't wait for season 2.

Just watched the first episode last night...wow I don't have the stomach for the graphic scenes...it's simply making my tummy feeling inside out...totally nausea!  :-[

Having said that, I can't wait to watch the next episode.  :P

You'll get used to the gore. It was necessary to show how fragile their work was. I got used to it. Hang on to your seat. It gets really exciting.
