In retrospect...after one year:
Walker Kessler stats last year for UTA:
9.2ppg 8.4rpg 2.3bpg
Rudy Gobert stats last year for MIN
13.4ppg 11.6rpg 1.4bpg
MIN had the draft rights to 22 year old Walker Kessler. They thought that they needed to get a Center to support KAT. The Jazz were willing to part ways with the 31 year old Gobert and they sent him to the Timberwolves for a massive haul in return. The team got back some good players, Malik Beasley, Patrick Beverley, and Jarred Vanderbilt, none of whom are still with the Jazz today but are in the NBA. They also got Leandro Bolmaro, who is now out of the NBA and playing for Liga ACB’s CB Canarias. But the biggest name the team got back is Walker Kessler, future Defensive Player of the Year candidate and current member of Team USA’s FIBA World Cup squad.
The Jazz also got back four unprotected first-round picks in 2023, 2025, and 2027, and a swap in 2026. While also getting a Top-5 protected pick in 2029
Probably the most lopsided trade in the last 10 years.
