hi guys, im deciding sana to start collecting criterions but having doubts since lalabas na mga new hd formats...but if im gonna start, what titles would you recommend?  at least five titles sana. thanks!!

sir munskie, i would really like to think that criterion releases won't be much affected by the new HD formats coz most titles in their catalogue are not really the kind of movies that feature awesome audio mixes or eye-popping action sequences, many of them are classics that are still in Black & White & Mono audio format only......

the first 5 criterion titles that immediately came to my mind w/c i'd like you to have are:  Seven Samurai, The Battle of Algiers, The Leopard, M (be sure to get the 2-disc ed.) and Rashomon.........these are great titles to start building a criterion collection DVDs

 i believe that the recommendations are already good enough but the criterions are really good, there are others that were not mentioned by classicman, which can be also considered at par but you only requested for only five titles.

i'm limiting myself to english-audio movie only. it's really impossible for me to complete the whole collection. my next target is the great adaptations (great expectations, oliver twist, lord of the flies, most dangerous game). after that is kind hearts and coronets, the complete mr. arkadin (this one is a collector series).

the reason why i don't watch and just limiting my self to english-audio movies is because if i start to like non-english audio movies, i might not be able to control myself from buying and collecting non-english movies. ang dami non, mamumulubi na ako ng tuluyan. trust me, i know there are lots of good movies besides english-audio movies, but i really have to stay away from them. i really can't control myself when it comes to buying dvds.
