In Marantz's defense, it is indeed proprietary and state of the art - BUT, come to think of it, the discrete transistors match level can never approach the match level of a laser cut die used by the semicon manufacturers. My favorite is the DiFet process of BB, well subjectively at least.
Objectively and IME, I get worse input offset readings with the HDAM than the lowly NE5534DD of Philips. DC center is also off by a few millivolts. However, it does offer a pleasant sonic character and that it is true to it's bandwidth range.
Oh well, I can bore you all day long with the numbers but at the end of the day it is the individual's ears that makes the final say so. I'd still say respect all around brader.
