Here are my reasons:

1. I want to get the best value when it comes to watching movies. That's why it's important for me to get special edition DVDs, especially of movies that I enjoyed.
2. The VHS, VCD, and LD formats don't satisfy me, especially for long-term movie watching.

My wife and I enjoy watching great movies over and over again. We watch DVDs during weekends when there's nothing to watch on TV.

I love to watch movies...i prefer to stay home and watch than going out on weekends.Tsaka iba yung fulfillment na naibibigay sa akin pag nanonod ako tapos malakas yung sounds..

Collecting DVD is no different from collecting stamps or mugs it is not the function but the feeling it gives the collector which is the fullfilment of simply having it I think.

How many of us here have countless Audio Tapes, Betamax, VHS, Laser Discs & VCDs just gathering dust and molds. I was into those formats too and It never occured to me that they would end up like that. So Im resigned to the fact that my DVD collection would someday be in the company of those formats. But it will forever remain as a collection even if I wont be able to watch it anymore just like my Betamax tapes.

i love movies and i love the great audio that comes with it! kaya yung collection ko mostly action movies. i doubt if i'll be collecting dvds if not for the great surround sounds that comes with it.

Because DVDs are portable. You can play them on Dvd players, PCs, laptops, etc and are less bulky than previous formats(VHS,Beta,Laser). Plus, I want to duplicate the movie theatre experience right in the comfort of my own house,you know, crystal clear picture, ear-splitting digital surround audio, the whole nine yards.

Pass the popcorn, please.

i live for movies, not a day is spent without watching one. dvd is a better format: it's handy, cool packaging, could have special features for better film appreciation, one can skip to favorite scenes.

Not quite sure why I collect em'. It's just a natural thing or a natural urge for me. Just like asking, "why does the sun shine? why does the rain falls? why is snow white and not any other color? " All I'm saying is I'm hooked!

mmm...i guess i'm a movie freak since betamax days,vhs,laserdisc tapos now DVD na...can't get my sight and hands of it although medyo expensive sulit naman kung marunong ka pumili ng quality movies and of course the features should be packed, that's why expensive and DVD,yun ang binabayaran natin,the features and of course the bit-quality...

At first, I bought DVDs because it was the only way I could get to watch shows that are not shown here (Queer as Folk, oz, etc.) Then I started liking the fact that I could collect my favorite shows and relive the "magic" again.

i like to convenience of repeating scenes that i like. for example, alec baldwin's speech at glen garry glen ross or the start of lord of the rings. and i don't think the improvements that the next format like H-dvd, blue ray or DVHS is worth replacing your collection. dvds are to vhs just like cds are to tape. there's nothing better than cd for audio and nothing better than dvd for movies. D-Vhs might have better quality but the difference is for those who have projectors or very large tvs. so dvd's are here to stay for the inconceivable future. unless the dvd rot i experience with superman, dr. zhivago goes widespread that is.

heck, i collected over 200 discs in less than a year. not to mention about 100 pirated ones.

I shifted from collecting my favorite movies on dvd (but still collect some movies especially if it's a 2-disc release)to collecting Box-Sets and TV Shows. I can never get tired of watching my favorite tv shows over and over on DVD.

ewan ko ba. this addiction started last july 2002 when i the cd-recorder i bought was defective. unfortunately, yung supplier can't replace the unit anymore kase last of its kind na daw. so i had a refund.

so when i saw the entertainment system sa glorietta, i thought of buying this instead. magastos, pero worth it.

nun pa, gusto ko na magkaroon ng collection disney movies for me and my (would-be) kids to enjoy. pero now, mukhang di lang disney and kino-collect ko.

I'm in it for the special features because I want to know more about my favourite movies (it's a treat to watch 30-40 minutes worth of deleted scenes!). And I like the fact that (not withstanding DVD rot or what-have-you) DVDs will last longer than I will. And it's fun skipping to your favourite scenes without the hassle of rewinding, forwarding, then rewinding, then forwarding, ad inf. And also, they're portable, easy to store and clean, has subtitle options, I could go on...

By the way, like some people here, I don't "collect" DVDs per se. I buy only DVDs of my favourite movies, ones I know won't tire of after the 1,000th viewing.

basically coz i like movies and i only collect movies that i want 2 watch over and over and over like THE MATRIX but l8ly i'm in2 concert DVDs
