twas back in 1999, i just got a loan and bought a dvd player. syempre dapat meron kang bala kaso i had no idea where to get r1 dvds and i seem to recall in those days, very limited pa ang titles na available dahil most of the studios have not embraced the format so i had no other choice but to get the ones that were available sa astro sa robs ermita....

shakespeare in love

ooh, i just love that movie. that movie is so smartly written. love the acting by the ensemble cast. i like the movie because it's everything... there's love, action, drama, comedy, sex, horror, etc. when i watched it with the subtitles, goodness, i've understood every single detail of the movie. i appreciated it more when i watched it for the third time.

Pero kasama sa unang DVd player ko yung unang set ng Spider-Man. Nagulat ako sa menus. Hindi ko akalaing may menus ang DVDs.

Well, the first dvd that I bought was the Commemorative Issue of JOSE RIZAL (yes, the Cesar Montano starrer). I saw it in one of my "sojourns" in Quiapo. It was P400 (!) and sealed. I believe it is Original because the paper inlay and outlay is glossy with fine not blurry prints and the dvd has a MENU, complete with the Making of Rizal and Subtitles. Most of all, the picture quality is not so-so na rin. Not perfectly perfect but still dvd quality.

And one thing more, I bought it at the time I had no dvd player yet. Told myself that since I was going to get one in the future, might as well start collecting dvds. And what better way to start your collection than to buy something patriotic and nationalistic in character. And it happened to be Rizal.
