Mga HT guru ok po ba ang onkyo HT-RC260? Parang katulad din po kasi ng 608 without THX. Mas mura po kasi sya. Meron na po ba nkabili nito dito sa PDVD? Saan po kya meron nito? TIA...

hi guys,

I also just got the onkyo 608 last week, and have tried out movies and gaming. oliver's guys helped me set up the unit, i use infinity speakers(sattelites). the setting is almost on the default, except for speaker calibration, center +2, surrounds +4, watching movies in this thing was great, every detail from the killbill v1 was there swords, effects, and vocals.

For gaming we use xbox and ps3 and it was just like you were there in the action especially in the 5.1 games.

On the reliability side, the avr was on for most of the day, the avr is quite warm but not that you get scortched, bit cooler than the xbox! hehehe

Very happy with the reciever. Was considering Denon 1911, but when i checked the specs went for the onkyo, and heard that onkyo receivers seldom have trouble.

is there a setting in the ampli that i should do para both the input and the output is 1080p?

Thanks mga gurus....

DV610 is 1080P capable,is your TV 1080P capable or HD ready?

by the way im using DV610 too but I set the DV610 to the lowest at 480I and let the Onkyo do the upscaling as it has a better upscaler in Faroudjia, what i did is set my Onkyo AVR to upscale to 720P as my plasma is only HD ready, this set up provides the best PQ for me.i also set my NMT ot the lowest setting and similarly, let the AVR upscale.

Most probably your TV can't handle 1080p. I still have an old LCD( probably around 5 years) and it's only capable of 720p/1080i. When I set my media player to 1080p, i get a blank screen.

the link tested dv610 with the TV you were metioning and it doesnt have any issues, maybe its just a matter of setting, try to tinker back again

http://www.pinoydvd.com/index.php?topic=107845.0

but like i said, id rather set the DVD player to the lowest resolution and set the Onkyo to the higest resoltuion as i find the upscaler faroudjia better thah that of the NMT and the DVD player

I'm not familiar with the equipment that you are using but you can isolate the problem by connecting it directly to your tv. Is your pch a200, set at 1080p, working with the onkyo?

Hi guys, thanks for the tip on the cover of the speaker post, malaking help yung advise niyo.

One more thing, almost same question ni wacksy, i ran hdmi from ps3 to avr, then to tv. hindi din lumabas image. what could be wrong sa settings? what i did i reset the reso sa ps3 and set to 720p, and sa set up through lang sa receiver, gumana, pero pag try mo upscale wala labas.

What seems to be the prob kaya? any suggestions guys?

yup thats why i wonder the a200 works well even at 1080p resolution both input and output but the d610 is only up to 1080i.

just did the advise of sir onkyo606 and just made the receiver the upscaler for now and maganda naman ang resolution niya  ;D

actually kagawad iiinas was the one who taught me to do the upscaling through the receiver kase nga mas superior yung faroudjia eh, when i tried it, i never looked back mas vivid at lively yung colors

happy to hear nagustuhan mo din yung result, enjoy ;)

hi guys,

One thing having problem with, pag hook up ko ps3 sa avr thru hdmi at times hindi lumalabas pic, minsan meron.

I tried resetting the setting sa ps3 to 720p and reso ng avr at thru, gumana and lumabas pic, pero if you set the avr to auto-upscale screen goes blank.

What seems to be the prob? any tips?

Just the other day...I noticed my 805 is 'skipping' or 'blinking' with a slight pause on the audio while playing Audio CD's on my Pio DV 610. Its happening like every 6 to 7 seconds..quite annoying.

But when I play DVD's...everything is normal. I checked back again with other Audio CD's....they are all doing the same.

What could have I possible done? I hope it is just some settings. My daughter might have pushed some buttons. It does not do it also when it is set on 'tuner'.

earlier, i was on an onkyo shop and was looking over an onkyo 308 (P21K) and a 507 (P24K) and while inquiring with the personnel, what kinda stuck in my mind was what he said:
"when hooking up the BD player to the onkyo receiver, the audio decoders of the bd player will be off automatically and the on-board audio decoders of the receiver will take over.  besides, the on-board decoder of the receiver is superior to the audio decoder of the bd-player  ???"
another thing, he said that if i'm going to get the onkyo 308 and pair it with a floorstanding speakers, the power might not be sufficient.  ???

paki-explain lang po mga gurus

TIA

PS

on another shop, they were selling an Onkyo HTIB with a receiver ht-r670. it has 7 speakers.  the store owner said that the subwoofer got damaged.  they were selling it for about P21K.

Hi Othan,

If you are talking about the 308 yes the receiver will time driving the speakers lalo na if it is florr standing and has 150w capacity, usually i know floor standers have min 120w at 6ohms, the 308 specs is a good match with bookshelf speakers, if it is hooked up with a florr stander with hi wattage it might be overworked and would not be recommended.

I also wanted to get the 508 before, when this was explained to me, i opted for the 608, medyo stretched my budget for it though at 30800.

thanks for the greeting wacksy,

Musta yung sayo? Iam still using default setting kasi hindi pa final yung area na pagagamitan.

I paired the avr with sattelites though, infinity for now. Looking for wharfs sana, question ok ba yung 8.3? floor standers. Being paired with wh2 package.

hi Othan, in short your AV receiver will be the heart & brain of your system, let the AVR do the upscaling & audio adjustment.

608 user here too. using it with B&W 685s for fronts, htm62 for centers and 686 for rears. also have velodynes for subs. love the laid back sound compared with denon and hk which is too harsh for my ears. hindi masakit sa tenga at nakakasawa yung tunog after several hours of use.

Yes, thats what i noticed too. i was originally going for the denon 2310 or 11, pero when i compared and listened to both units, settled for the 608. Halos all details sa movie makuha mo, sa denon parang may kulang ng konti, although its a good receiver mas ok features sa 608, and the thx helps hehehe.
