IMHO, try to listen to titan or monitor series and if any of them impresses you.. there's no dought you will like more the reference series.... good luck!
@audiojunkie. i thought so too. as an audionewbie who had briefly demoed titans @sas >to my subjective ears, yeah, i was really impressed when i heard these titans paired with a 40-50watt NAD (bass is good, kala ko nga may sub sa background) and theres this good wide soundstage that i noticed. the sound from the titans filled the whole space of SaS's mini audioroom (granted its a very small listening room).
I also listened to paradigm mini monitor (i heard its a bestseller @SaS, at least accdg to one staff). it has a clearer sound but not as enveloping or as impressive overall as the titans (to me).
i think titans are really good value for the money based on its price/SQ vs competition. having a decent 93db sensitivity @8ohms, it would be so easy to amplify them whether using a lowly powered tubeAmp or 40/50watter SS amp.
my only worry (or nitpicking) about the titans is the "alleged" issue about 1) mid-bass bloat and 2)port noise that are floating in other audio forums. these are the only gripes that i read about them, everything else is good
. Whether its exaggerations or not, its best to demo them for further SQ evaluation -thats what i would do.
with regards to their mid highend bookshelf speakers, the Studio Series, version 5, which was just released last year, i only read good things about them. sadly, di mo lang ma demo locally or maybe di ko lang alam kung saang audioshop pwedeng ma-demo
having a higher price point than monitor series, i do expect the studio series to be more refined + better SQ of course:)
my studio 10 V5 is yet to arrive...
ill keep you posted...
we'll be wating, sir

OT: i thought sister companies like nad+psb make the best synergy. I demo'd psb image b6 + NAD 50-watter + CDP = fine, but no sparkle to me. I also tried the higher model, imagine B + 150w NAD = good, but i was expecting something more for its higher combo price range. (perhaps a bright-leaning cambridge gears would make those psb sing very well (than nad paring).
NAD+paradigm pairing is more sound to me. maybe because nad's laidback signature were able to tame a little those bright-sounding paradigms. hey, its just me and my bagito ears. i know i need to learn more and hear more. i'm also enjoying this 'madness' journey in search of my audio bliss;D
