@firestorm

I bought it from Automatic Center Galleria, the price is 5.2k, that includes their extended warranty program (3 years, parts and service)

without the extended warranty the unit cost is 4.3k

GUI (or Graphical User Interface) refers to the folder interface that the Pio uses for playing back non-DVD discs. Press the 'Menu" button to see the list of files.

Thank You Sir
I'm not familiar with any DVD player, all I know is to buy and watch, that's why I am confuse if it is normal...

I have a question... my sister also bought this player... then one time... nag burn sya sa CD ng mga MPEG files to play it in her player not knowing na may virus pala yung computer nya... ayaw na mag play ng mga DIVX files yung player nya... do you think guys connected sa virus yun?  Meaning nalagyan ng virus yung software ng pioneer?  Pano maaayos yun?  Sa service center lang ba?  T.I.A.

i dont think so kasi binabasa lang naman niya yung cd na may virus eh

hindi naman yan parang hardisk na nagstostore ng files in that case yun ang pwede ma virus :)

Ask ko lang sa mga dv-393 users, have you experienced playing some p***** dvd movies but no picture shown on the tv but meron sound (soundtrack of the movie)? Meaning binabasa sya but no video only audio of the dvd being played.
I read the manual at na mention don na if a movie was burned but hindi na "finalized", no picture may occur. Out of 10 p***** commercially available dvd I tried, 2 has this problem.
What's funny was sa Philips dvd player namin this 2 problematic disc are played well, no problem at all !?!  ???

Can someone explain this problem with Pioneer dvd players? Or is this just an isolated case with my unit? I'm still covered with the warranty kaya pwede ko balik. Tnx

Hey guys,

Just bought one of this afternoon.

When I inserted a DVDRW with a mixture of divx and mp3s, a screen popped up with two columns indicating divx & mp3.    I chose divx as I wanted to watch movies, but now how do I get back to that screen when I want to play mp3?

It seems this player cannot display divx and mp3 on the same menu compared to my xenon player.

Hi,

Can anyone confirm if this model DV-393-S can display .idx/.sub subtitle files for DIVX/XVID movies? How about .idx/.rar subtitle files? (ALso if anyone has the Pio DV-490 can you confirm if these subtitle formats work as well)

Thanks in advance. :)

Regards,
Dejakenth

Yes it can play idx/sub, .srt.  I was watching some Korean flicks last night, but idx/rar highly unlikely.

On a side note.  Compared to my xenon-830 the 393 displays srt subtitles with font similar to what you see in your computer, white fonts with black outer lining.  Like this:

My xenon only displays srt files as plain white fonts making it difficult to read.

Toink

They have to be in the same directly and of the same file name.

ex.

/toink movie

toink.the.movie.avi
toink.the.movie.idx
toink.the.movie.sub

If this still doesn't work try stripping the other languages of the subs using vobsubstrip (this is what i normally do b4 burning) leaving only the English subtitles.

Vobsubstrip is installed when you install vobsub with extras.

How much did you get it for? I got mine for 4.5k~ish

ngek lugi pala ako sa pagbili ko :(

update:

I called up 2 abenson branches in makati and was told the unit is P4,398.
then I called up Abenson Alabang and they checked the computer and price
is P4,398. Now I have to call up their customer servive tom so they can check
with merchandising the price. Poor support in Abenson Alabang. I will ask them
to refund the price difference since i paid cash and will never buy from that branch
again.

Follow up lang mga sirs sa post ko before, can anyone explain what pioneer mean sa manual nila under DVD-R/RW Compatibility na "unfinalized" disc playback - not playable. I am still experiencing some dvd movies with audio but no video, is this the culprit here? Anybody else experienced this scenario? Thanks

miguel, can you elaborate more on your experience? what do you mean play disc above 480/576? does the dv-393 upscale normal dvd disc? I am using mine in progressive scan and connected to my CRT TV with D3 input (domestic japan version of component inputs). Thanks  :)

Hi allan.

No it doesn't upscale, but there was a time I tried to play a 720p divx file.  Thats the only time I experienced audio only and no video.  (as expected :))

I use DVDRWs all the time and never had a problem.  I have been using ritek & TDKs.  I just use the defaults and Nero.  I don't know about the Compatibility na "unfinalized" disc playback, but if its pertaining to the "finalize disc" checkbox, I don't use it or I have it unchecked all the time whether multisession or no multisession discs.
