any recommendations for powered speakers?

for dorm use and source would probably only be an ipad or a phone.

can be a 2.0 or a 2.1 system

Budget ? Size restrictions ? How loud do you want it to play ?

I recommend the Audioengine A2! http://audioengineusa.com/Store/Audioengine-A2#.UHmiiMXql9E

I use these speakers with my desktop pc and they're fantastic! I also hook it up to my smartphone sometimes. you can buy them for 9k at Dextertron, Greenbelt 5 btw. ;)

@louie

I've seen the A5. ang laki nya! may built-in 150W amp (50-75W/ch) kasi cya sa left speaker. baka masyadong bulky para sa dorm.

an alternative for affordable speakers are dayton speakers. lacks some low end though but it's nothing a sub can compensate for.

Hello all,

I've auditioned a pair of b&w 685's and im fairly decided to purhasing them in the near future to replace my klipsch speakers as my fronts for my HT set up and then just dedicate my Klipsch to an audio set up.  I'll be using a pioneer 921-k avr thats hooked up to a power amp to drive the 685's, my question now ism which center should i get? the htm1 or the htm2?  I have not auditioned the two center channels but wanted to get some insight before i take a trip to our local shops that will allow me to audition them.  thanks in advance.

The HTM62 is supposedly what's made to match the 685.

Of course, if you have the option to try both then that would be even better.

Actually, what makes it a dilemma for me is that i will eventually move to a 7.2 set up, so i'll be moving the 685's as either FH or FW or SB.  By the time i do that, my fronts will most probably be 684's, so ok parin naman ang htm2, but if i get lucky and could afford 683's, mas bagay na ang htm1....hmmm, what to do what to do......

Nakuha ko idea sa car audio ko dati, wala kasing rca out yung stock headunit kaya kinabitan ng LOC Temporarily while i was waiting for my replacement headunit hehe.

Sayang ba sir kung gagamitin ko lang pang FW in the future? Iniisip ko din kasi kung pano diskarte ng untiunting upgrade. For now all i can afford is the 685, kung gusto ko na mag 7.1 hindi ko alam kung anong dapat idagdag na speaker, kung mas maliit or mas malaki hehe. Any tips?:)

Nakabili kasi ako ng preowned niyan. Mabilis lumuwag. And even if i pry it para lumaki, kapag plug ko, lumuluwag din.

Nung una akala ko yung plugs pero when i tried the same plug on a different binding post, ok naman.

it's always smart to turn down the volume of amplifiers prior to turning it off
