Will we be getting a local release for this or not? The R3 at CD WOW has a release date of February 15, a month ahead of the R1.. I hope the same goes for us..

The Philippine Release of Casino Royale is on February 16th, based on the new mini-standee I saw at Astrovision.

It will be available in two versions:

2-Disc Widescreen Special Edition - Php 895:

Special Features:

1. Becoming Bond

2. James Bond For Real

3. Bond Girls Are Forever

4. Music Video

Magnavision currently has a pre-order promo. If you pre-book this title (Php 200 deposit), you are entitled to either

a. a free DVD (for those who order the 2-disc version), or

b. a free VCD (for those who order the 1-disc version)

You can pick up your free item with the Casino Royale DVD on February 16th.

NOTE: From the list of titles available for the promo, it seems that the free DVD is a DVD-5 title only. You can choose either a budget edition of one of the blockbusters, one of the cheaper Magna non-studio titles, karaoke discs, or a Hallmark title.

Looking at the list provided, I think the best bang for your buck is a Hallmark title, if you're into these mini-series.

Pre-order promo already ongoing at Astrovision branches. I'm guessing PinoyDVD.Biz will also have a similar promotion soon?

So the features are identical to the R1 version.. Might get this just because it comes out earlier, watch it, then sell it and get the R1..

I reserved the 2-Disc a while ago sa Astroplus SM Clark. I was first on the list.

Nung nagpa-reserve ako, they gave me a list of all titles that I can get for free. Naghahanap ako, until dun sa bandang end, I saw Jurassic Park (DVD-9)... so yun na lang kinuha ko. I saw the DVD and medyo crappy yung pagkaprint... pero they gave me assurance na DVD-9 siya (in fairness marunong naman yung sales personnel nila... unlike sa iba). So DVD-5 or DVD-9 man siya, ok lang kasi 'free' naman eh. So, technically hindi halos lahat DVD-5.

Hmm, Feb16.. medyo matagal pa. Antay ko na lang.

After King Kong and The Da Vinci Code, Magnavision releases have left a slightly bad taste in my mouth. I have to agree with hemisphere here.

I'll give you guys Kong, but what was wrong with The Da Vinci Code other than the fake "limited edition" certification? Looking at the R1 with its cardboard-with-cellophane box, identical (to the R3) cryptex/journal, and theatrical cut of the film without a DTS track, I much preferred the R3 version.

I actually agree with you on The Da Vinci Code R3 version being a far superior release than the R1 version. My beef with Magnavision is that in recent memory, their new releases tend to have problems. Many Magnavision customers have been complaining here but I'm not even sure if they're actually listening to and acting on their complaints. Take the case of the "certificate" issue. There has been no resolution up to now. I guess some of us already have this mindset to avoid Magnavision releases. Peace.

Oh well, I'd come to accept Magnavision questionable quality on packaging... As long as the difference lies only in the keepcase, I am okay with that now. But if there is significant differences in packaging (ie Ten Commandments Anniv Ed), I will go R1.

As for Casino Royale, I will probably spring for the local R3 release. Tagal pa kasi ng R1, and the extra free disc (even if it's DVD5), makes the 895 price easier to swallow. I haven't seen the freebie list yet, here's hoping Click DVD5 is on that list...

Meron din kaya sa Odyssey ito? Lately, I don't want to buy at Astrovision...kasi I love competition...

I rechecked the list of free titles, and some of the blockbusters are listed as "Budget DVD5" while others are listed as "Budget DVD9."

I have no idea what a "Budget DVD9" is, so hopefully one of you will choose one of these titles and can enlighten us on what a "Budget DVD9" is when you pick it up. Are features missing? Is the packaging crappy? Is it really a DVD9, or are they just confused?

Pre-ordered this and chose Broken Trail Budget DVD-9.. saw an ad about a poker tournament on March 15.. Registration form is inside the 2-Disc edition.. Sony products as prizes, I think..
