Yup, the stocks have arrived at several Astro branches already.

On the bad side: The ugly-ass "new" MTRCB sticker isn't on the plastic, it's stuck directly on the case/steelbook.

I just bought a copy from Music One at about 8pm. It's an impressive steel case but sad to say, there is no slipcase, unlike the Best Buy R1version and NO SCRIPT BOOK. The MTRCB sticker in front of the case is also a no-no.

Luckily the sticker's rather easy to remove from the steel case. From the residue I encountered, I think the label will tear off from the 550 version if you attempt to do the same, though.

How come it's already selling in MusicOne? I also passed by Astro Glorietta at around 8:15 and was shown their stock, but when I inquired if they're already selling, they told me tomorrow pa. I'm a suki na there ha, so it can't be said that I was denied an early sale because the staff doesn't know me.

Anyway, it is an impressive slim tin case. There's no DTS track, but there are several DD-EX5.1 tracks. I can't wait to get my hands on it tomorrow!

So the lesson here is:

pa-cute + nothing = "Come back tomorrow"

Whereas:

pa-cute + pa-awa =

Oh, and arriving just as the store's about to close also increases your chances of it working.

Arriving just when the store's about to close would have been my strategy, if it weren't for the 8:45 PM showing of "Letters From Iwo Jima", in which I was already reserved.

That said, I thought the DVD's would be housed in standard Amaray or cardboard casing, which in turn will be contained inside the tin steelbook (just like Superman UE or the original King Kong R1). This is the first time I've seen a packaging like that. I hope to see more releases packaged like that.

Oh, and if scratches worry you, you can buy plastic DVD sleeves from Japan Home. 88 bucks for a pack of 25. I already bought several for my cardboard-slipcased DVD's. Of course, there's a size limitation (I can squeeze in "The Corpse Bride" DE), but I think this particular tin steelbook case will fit snugly.

i was also at music one yesterday....didnt see a copy though....was trying to decide kasi if i will buy casino royale

got two copies of the tin at The Block in SM North.. I was supposed to get three pero sabi nung Astro girl dun 5 copies lang daw binigay sa kanila at out of stock na rin daw sa warehouse.. So I decided to give up the other one na lang.. Di daw kasi talaga kasali yung tin sa release dito sa Philippines, last minute addition lang daw..

yup, i also asked the astro lady at MoA limited stocks lang daw yung steel case. pero most likely they will have more stocks, they just didnt say when.

but astro in festival & southmall hindi naman nauubusan ng stocks sila, i guess mas konti kasi bumibili dun in my experience

i was there a while ago, astro-southmall, wala daw silang 2-disc set...

That has to be a mistake, since wala ako nakitang one-disc version anywhere. It's either two-disc keepcase or two-disc steelbook.

Has anyone seen a single disc version anywhere else?

Wala daw single-disc version na nirelease.. Its just the steel case and the keep case, both 2-discs..

The steelbook is rare just a few hours into release. Panay regular 599 version nakita ko sa tatlong Astro na pinuntahan ko... I was finally able to snag one steelbook, pero last copy na rin...

It had disappeared on PinoyDVD.biz listing, baka pinakyaw ng Astro. i was planning to get my copy from .biz, but decided against it... baka hindi na umabot sa .biz ang stock...

Hopefully, Warner still have many stock in their warehouse, kasi sold-out na sa many astrovision ang Steelbook version ng The Departed. They should have implemented a preorder promo, maybe they didn't expect the demand and The Oscars...

and hopefully more DVD will be released in steelbook collector's editions...

Sorry! i thought the 599 is a single disc. Astro southmall has that but not the steel case. Finally bought one at astro festival at isa nalang natitira.

no more stocks at Astro Glorietta. Saleslady at Music One Greenbelt said they dont have one in steelbook casing. also checked musicone/tower records at glorietta - didnt find one also.

finally got a copy at Astroplus SM Makati 1pm. There are no copies on display - i had to ask from the saleslady and she got it from the stockroom pa. When i asked her how many they have left - 2 na lang daw

Last night when I went to Astro Glorietta, they said they only had 5 copies, so having been denied an early sale, I went early there today (well, 11:30 AM). Since kilala naman ako, rineserve na yung isa for me. When I went there today, walang nakadisplay na kahit anong version nito. Para bang secret release. Hehehe!

According to the Warner rep I talked to at Astro, wala na daw stocks sa warehouse nila.. Hindi daw kasi talaga tayo kasali sa magkakaroon ng steelbook release kaya limited lang yung stocks nila..
