The cage design I left to Mr. Andrew.  As you can see, oks yung contrast nung black cage and chrome transformer covers and tube base.  The cage is not mounted.  You just lift it up when you want to enjoy the amp when kids are not around.  I specified the cage since I have a young daughter, baka mahawakan yung tubes mapaso pa yung fingers.

Very nice! Post mo naman specs and your listening impression so far.  :D

Congratulations!  :D

Haven't had the chance to listen seriously.

As for the specs, all I know is:

1) Electro Harmonix KT88 tubes
2) 75wpc, push pull
3) No idea if its tube or SS rectified (sorry, first tube amp kasi)
4) remote volume and source control
5) tone controls
6) built-in bias meter
7) amp lowers volume automatically when starting from cold; red light blinks until the amp is ready to accept input from source
8) and yes, the amp transformers serve as mirrors when you're in a hurry in the morning. . .  :P

Initial listening observations though (at 2:30am in the morning):

1) Bass seems to be more than enough.  In my old NAD320BEE, I had the bass control slightly at one to two o'clock, compensating for what I thought was softer bass of the Tannoys (vs my Wharfedale 9.1s, which to me and my father-in-law had more bass)

2) Now, bass seems quite plentiful.  So much so that I put the foam bungs back into the ports and have the bass control at 0.  For naturally-bass heavy test tracks, I just remove the bungs and I have the effect of a loudness button on my music.

3) More detail coming from my music.  Considering I now play most of my music wirelessly from my Macbook, getting more instrument detail from the compressed AAC files was a pleasant surprise, even for tunes bought at the iTunes store at 128kbps ( I usually rip CDs at 192kbps AAC).  On CDs, hands down, Stacey Kent's "So Nice" sounded fuller and nicer.  Tubes are really great for vocals and instruments.  I have  yet to test it for bass-heavy genres such as electronica and dance/rap.  But R. Kelly's "Ignition" and Naughty by Nature's "O.P.P" seem to have pretty good and very full bass.  Noticeably softer though, vs a tighter bass from my SS NAD320BEE.

Nice amp!

I love KT88/6550 tubes, bass is good with this tube, vocals are great and the highs are not to flabby at all.

I think your amp is SS rectified, not unless Mr. Andrew was able to hide the tube rectifier under the chassis.

Great chassis work too!

Can you tell us how much is cost?

Have you tried other tubes? How is the sound of the Electro Harmonix KT88? Can you use EL34 tubes on your amp? (some amps you can use EL34, KT88/6550, KT90, 6L6).

BTW, what are the driver tubes?

Enjoy your new amp!

Paid roughly P37k for the amp.  A bit steep but when I saw the amp it was worth the price.  Dig the chrome and black combo chassis.  Sir Andrew has another amp just like mine in the store, pero minus the cage and the bling bling.  That should be a bit cheaper.

Offhand the EH sound pretty good, though I can't remember the sound of the Sovteks that were the stock tubes in the KT88 amp that I auditioned before.  The tubes are EH KT88EH, which from what I read are an improved version of the orig KT88 that Electro Harmonix used to sell.

Don't know the driver tubes, but I'll take a look later at home.  Or maybe sir Andrew can enlighten us on the specs of the amp, since I'm a tube newbie.

Looked in the box and the two other pairs are comprised of GE 12AT7 and Svetlana 6N1-P.

The GE 12AT7 is ok, you might consider using 6dj8 on the 6n1p, my favorite is the Amperex 6dj8 which should work for the 6n1p driver tubes, makes your vocals and highs less harsh.

PM markmlists, he is selling a pair of Amperex 6DJ8, they sound good.

Thanks for the tip.  Pero baka gamitin ni esmi yung veto power niya.  Palipasin muna natin hanggang sa susunod na November HiFi show.  Para yung reason: " Dear, and ganda talaga nung narinig ko.  Kailangan kong mag-upgrade. . . "

The initial observations are still true after I've had the amp for some time.  Definitely more powerful and more detailed than my previous NAD320BEE.  However, I may look for some speakers by next year, possibly Dynaudios.  Nothing wrong with my current speakers, just shifting my major "bisyo" from photography to audio. . . :-)

Hole?  The blue thing in the middle is the bias indicator.  You bias the tubes yourself, but with the added convenience of not using a voltmeter na.  Tamad kasi ako, so I specified that plus remote and bass/treble controls.

That is a very nice looking amp!

It looks very much like my AudioSpace Mk III 8i (same power tubes, PP KT88).

Am sure your amp sounds great!

Quite. Very versatile amp. Changed the speakers to Castle Richmond 3i standmounts, as the old Tannoy floorstanders became very boomy when paired with the Kt88 amp.  Pretty good match, and they sound almost like floorstanders, except when I play rap/hiphop music.  Got to save up for that Castle subwoofer.

Who said an audiophile need to be a minimalist in approach by just having a volume control? I say try as much as you can to rectify whatever bad recording or bad mixing where done on your cd using your tone controls. Though it's not a cure all control but at least you can improve them to your liking. Let us face it, there are some good music with bad recording or mixing. enjoy!!!
