I found the solution to play movies in 42PV70 using the laptop with real 16:9 (not stretched). I installed K-lite's Media Player Classic. There's an option in the player to force the movie to fit in a 16:9 TV.

mga boss, i am confused....kanina I went around the mall to check the Pana PV7 and PV70. Sabi sa akin, pareho lang daw yun except for the HDMI inputs (2 vs 1), input sa harap and color of the unit.  The rest are just the same...

pareho lang ba talga? contrast ratio, etc etc.... konti lang kasi difference sa price.  Pero kung cosmetics lang or just the number of inputs, ok na ako sa PV7....please help.

i just watched a downloaded full HD movie kagabi and played using Media Player classic with the proper codecs x264, connected via VGA.  Hanak ng wets.... ang ganda !  buti nalang 1.5mbps dsl ko. hehehe.

I can't believe my eyes that it can be this clear.

yes, yung mga full HD downloads na 3++ GB to 7 GB per movie nakakagulat ang detail.  di ko lubos maisip na nung 1998, DVD quality tuwang tuwa na tayo.

I have a question regarding sa IR, coz i'm watching in a dark room and once i stopped and eject the dvd player (w/c is xenon), nagddisplay sya ng still image na XENON and it's colored white w/ a background of light blue, and of course i turn off the tv to prevent IR. wala pang 15 sec.,when i got the dvd, I noticed na may IR na XENON..  pero very minimal lang.. but when my lights are turned on and kung malayo, it's not noticeable... pero nawawala naman..

btw, my settings are set to minimal.

is it healthy for the plasma na nagkaka ganun sa break-in period nya?

guys, sa mga nakapag break-in na and sa mga nagbbreak-in palang, try nyo nakapatay ilaw if you'll notice IR.
