The releases should be very, very similar. Warner is even releasing the Harry Potter 1-5 Limited Edition Giftset locally which is supposedly comes in gorgeous steelbook foldout packaging. It also marks the first time that Harry Potter & the Sorcerer's Stone will be available in widescreen in the Philippines.

I'll just wait for the complete series boxset to avoid double dipping.

No word on the actual contents but I'll create a new thread when Warner sends me the details.

My honest question is: Do people actually buy these "collector's edition" boxed sets knowing fully well that there are two more films in the series and that they'll either have to double dip or to have two loose cases sitting sadly beside their incomplete "boxed set"?

Will they also release the widescreen version of Sorcerer's stone separately?

My thoughts exactly.  Though frankly, it would be hard to resist buying the tin set especially if it is priced attractively...

Although by the time the last of the series comes to home video, HD would probably have taken root so most enthusiasts (okay, okay - film addicts) will be triple dipping for the HD and not the SD one...

Right. Same thing with the hardcovers. They released a sort-of boxed set of the the first four books. Now, they have the complete set in a chest!

But if the packaging (of the set) is anything like that of R1 (as posted by boredfilmaker), I would dumped any apprehensions and preorder it the moment it become available!

PinoyDVD.biz tentative street date: 11-09.  A full month early than R3.  Hopefully, we will get more info soon...

If any Warner rep is reading this, we want the Gift box!

on my opinion, just buy HP 5 muna rather than the boxset since there are still two films comming out and by the time those two films comes out HD would had already made a mark on the market by then you might consider buying the boxset.   ;)

The latest that I heard from Warner is that this will be released on Nov. 12 and will coincide with the global release date.  Tentatively, five variants will be available for local release.  Included is the box set which comes with two variants, regular and the other with a premium item.

Hopefully will be more plentiful for the box set and not as limited as that of the 300 mask set...

already preordered at .biz im a sucker for journals, filofaxes, calendar books, etc. kahit ano pa hitsura nyan! that's why i dont own any freakin' PDAs hehehe hirap magsulat dun, limited pa ang viewing pleasure  ;D

pansin ko lang sa .biz discount daw, from 995 bucks to 895 if preordered. eh warner titles especially potter titles starts at 895 naman talaga eh  ;D marketing strategy hahahaha

Having gone through Warner's Harry Potter collaterals, the correct prebooking price of the leather journal variant is P845 and not P895.  ;D  Further, only 300 copies of the variant will be offered locally.  Likewise, only 300 copies of the DVD box set w/ Limited Bookmark collection will be available here.  We will setup a reservations page at .Biz for this variant soon. Sorry techdude, the packaging is not the same as the limited edition but the bookmark collection looks impressive from the pictures.  It's also not the same as the the R2 version since the box is bulkier on account of the 10 discs as oppose to R2's 5 discs.  It's priced at P1995 sans the limited bookmark collection and P2295 with the bookmark variant.  If you love to collect, might as well go with bookmark since this is supposedly very exclusive.

Pictures? I'll post later.  ;D

Having gone through Warner's Harry Potter collaterals  ;D  Further, only 300 copies of the variant will be offered locally.  Likewise, only 300 copies of the DVD box set w/ Limited Bookmark collection will be available here.

Why 300?  After Warner's success with 300's 300 helmets, do they have to stick to that number?  300 lang ba ang hardcore collectors sa boong Pilipinas?   If that number holds, that will be really limited and frankly that journal looks much better than any helmet.  And has Warner allocated their 300 supply meaning that PinoyDVD.biz stop taking preorders once that number is reached...

Will take a second look at that journal... (was procrastinating...) Also was thinking whether that journal was worth Php 300, but if the number is just 300, then it will be worth it.  Preordering before the clock strikes 300, I mean three... ;)

Having gone through Warner's Harry Potter collaterals, the correct prebooking price of the leather journal variant is P845 and not P895.  ;D
Clicking on a preorder is a valid contract.  So that bound us to pay 895 instead of the correct 845?  ;D  (joke)

Sorry techdude, the packaging is not the same as the limited edition but the bookmark collection looks impressive from the pictures.  It's also not the same as the the R2 version since the box is bulkier on account of the 10 discs as oppose to R2's 5 discs.

From that statement, it seems to indicate it will be a bulkier version of this:

R2 Harry Potter Years 1-5 boxed set

as opposed to this:

Harry Potter: Limited Edition Gift Set - Years 1-5 (R1/R2)

Those bookmarks will have to be uber impressive, since most collectors would probably already have Years 1-4, The R2 boxset is ordinary fare, leaving OOTP and those bookmarks to justify 2k+.   Although I am jumping the gun on this since it's all speculation as I haven't seen the R3 pics yet.  And with Christmas just around the corner, it's the season to be irrational...  ;D

The bookmark collection looks tempting, but I'll pass on this one for the inevitable complete franchise collection.
