Warner shouldn't limit that discount just to that title.  I mean, the movie SUCKED BIG TIME.   >:(
Maybe that's why it is being discounted. :)

so guys... what can you say about the quality of the movie dvd itself?
got the slipcased one from SM and i think the video is crappy (dark, grainy, etc.)
even the P-copy i got is better i think. if this is the case (dvd movie quality not meeting your expectations),
what do you do?

I have got to agree this is probably one of the worst DVDs in terms of encoding quality. It's like watching a DVD5 pdvd. Tinatamad na yata sila gandahan ang transfer to DVD with the advent of HD. Or baka sinasadya nila pangitan as a way to force consumers to switch to HD.

Maybe they copied the p-copy as a way to get back at them pirateteers.  :D

But, seriously, is this worldwide or just the R3 version?

I would assume that video quality for the other regions is the same as the local release since this is just sourced from one master copy.

It's probably from the same HD source. I asked Warner this question before and they said it doesn't make financial sense to do multiple digital transfers.

Last year, there were similar quality issues aimed at the Superman Returns DVD which had unbearably intrusive artifacts in many scenes compared to the pristine presentation of the HD DVD version. I reviewed the R1, R2, and R3 releases and came up with pretty much the same issues. Some critics chalked it up to the limitations of the DVD format compared to HD, but that's bull.

The programs used by Warner might be below par, since these are new movies where digital processes should have easily make the picture shine even on DVD.  Superman Returns, 300, and HP5 are all Warners, nobody complaining about Transformers, Casino Royale, or other other studio releases.

Maybe casanegro speculation have a point, they want to make the difference between HD and DVD more discernible to common eyes, and thus justify HD higher prices...

Watch this last night, I was thinking why my AE900 projector suddenly develop a "screen door effect"! luckily it's only this "original copy" P699.00 "imported" Harry Potter dvd.   >:(
