Denon ko is 2808, though the amp should have the same characteristic as the 3808. Furthermore, I don't use its power amp kasi may separate power amp ako.

Nonetheless, narinig ko na sya with the HT of a friend. Actually, medyo bright sya but honestly, I don't know if that was because of the amp or (more probably), the speaker!  :)

I had a few upgrades. The biggest has been the DIY bass traps (or broadband absorbers). I fabricated 4 panels of Rockwool. 2 panels of 6" x 2' x 8' and 2 panels of 6" x 2' x 4'.

You can see the 8 foot panels on the 2 front corners.

The 4 foot panels were placed at the rear corners. Here's a shot of one of them.

Of course, after installing these, I had to redo the Audyssey calibration and what you can notice is that the correction curve is flatter than before.

I was really amazed at the difference in sound quality. My bass was already tight but now, it is even tighter. You can notice this most with the kick drum.

These panels are supposed to absorb excess sound energy so you would expect the bass to decrease. Yet, the impression you get is that the bass has increased.

What surprised me the most was that it improved the sound of nearly all instruments, making them more detailed and life-like. I was particularly impressed by the improvement in the piano. Parang live.

This is one of the best investments I ever made sa HT. Parang nag-upgrade ng speakers. Salamat talaga ako kay Alvin, Munskie, Mike_C, Threadlock and all the other guys who gave advice.

Next improvement was that I changed the fabric at the front to black. You can see the transition from red to black in this picture (sorry that the pic is pretty bad).

Actually, kinopya ko lang ang HT ni Munskie.  ;D Tagal din ang research namin ni Munskie and I realized that mali talaga to have red walls (kahit burgundy sya) close to the screen.

My immediate perception is that there is an improvement in contrast ratio.

Lastly, I was finally able to find a pair of PSB Stratus Silver speakers, which match my PSB Stratus Goldi front speakers.

Nilagay ko ang kapares sa rear. Obviously, the result is that there is better blending of the front and center speakers.

Congrats mark for the updates.

Im pretty sure this is the most efficient upgrade you ever had.

Low on cost, but huge improvement overall, sa video and audio.

The black front wall improves the perception of contrast.   Removes any distraction, and parang nagfo float yung screen.  This is a must for every serious HT enthusiast.

Sa bass traps naman, it makes LFE tighter, and smoother.   Reduced boominess.

Congrats!!  ;D ;D

Way to go Mark. :D

Magkano lang ang gastos, pero parang entirely new system di ba?

Exactly. I was really shocked at the amount of improvement. Now, I guess I can add more panels at the junction between ceiling and wall. Tama?

After that, pag-usapan nating ano next project ko.  ;D

Thanks sa lahat ng tulong.  :)

This is also what im planning to do.   Im just thinking on how it would fit in my rather mediocre aesthetic taste.  ;)

Aesthetics nga ang problem. People get kinda surprised when they notice those big black boxes sa mga kanto. Akala nila may secret electronics sa loob.  ;D

But anyhow, I don't think its that ugly naman. And the important thing is the great audio improvement.  :)

Ika nga ng isang member dito .. "Mission Accomplished." After a few days, bumili ng bagong equipment, kaya nga ang mas bagay sabihin ay ... "Mission Impossible."  ;D

Dagdag pa ako few more bass traps.  :)

Tapos, nasira isang sub ko kaya iniisip ko palitan.  :'(

Tapos .. ang pangarap ko is a big 133" DIY "High Power" projector screen. Nakuha ko idea kay jay2 - bibilhin langa ang tela, baka mura lang. Will make adjustments sa pj ko para ok pa rin ang liwanag. Kung d ok ang liwanag, itatabi ko sya till I find a new pj.  ;D ;D Dream lang.  :)

I thought of sharing this recent experience of mine cuz I found it quite interesting.

Ever since I got the Paradigm Servo-15 v2 subwoofer (actually 2 of them), I started to hear serious rattling whenever there was heavy LFE material and it can get very annoying. At first, I thought that this was caused by the pin lights but to make sure, I did an experiment by playing only the subwoofer. Initially, I thought that the Celine Dion last track was the best material but it turned out to be weak. The best material was the battle scene in Master & Commander. Another very good one was the claymore mine explosion in Rambo - First Blood.

When you listen only to the subwoofer, it is much easier to detect where the rattling occurs. I also got 2 other guys to help me out. It turned out that the big rattling was caused by the door to the CR (which doesn't close tight) and the exhaust fan inside the CR. Another big rattle was caused by the ballast of my halogen lights which were mounted on a hanger. Parang may loose screw inside it. What a surprise! Of course, tuwang-tuwa ako. Much easier to fix than changing all the pin lights. :) :)
