To go HTIB or not?
« on: Feb 12, 2008 at 06:03 PM »
I will be moving in to a condo unit by March.

I currently have a 5(not .1 since no Sub)HT Set up.

Marantz 4300
Mission m731i
Mission m7c1i
Some old sony speakers for surround

I'll be moving in to small unit.. living room/dining area approx 18sqm.

Should I stick with a my Mission Set.. or just go 2.1 Keep the floorstanders then sell centers or go htib?

What would you do? Reason I ask is that the distance from my 2 Floorstanders will be around only 2 meters apart.. is there such a need for a center channel?

My floorstand speakers are more or less 2 meters apart also, so maintain your set-up bro, nice gear you have there ;)

I agree, keep your current set-up. Ganda na ng toys mo (marantz avr and mission speakers). Hanapan mo na lang ng magandang position yan sa room mo, because if you go for HTIB eh baka mabitin ka sa performance and end up missing your current gears. Just my two cents bro. ;) ;)

Ganda na ng gears mo sir, pero you may need to reconsider those speakers kasi in a condo unit those speakers will already rattle the wall baka mareklamo kapa ng mga katabing unit mo. Plus, if you intend to keep those speakers baka hindi maging maganda reproduction ng sound mo considering small space baka hindi maging maganda bounce nya sa wall.

Just a thought though.  :)

So keep us posted if you intend to sell those speakers.  :P

Its a tough decision - with your current set-up, you may not optimized the use of your gears since you're going to be in a smaller place & close neighbors pa. If you could live with turning down the volume so you dont rattle the neighbors, then thats fine - but yung nga, you wont optimize the use of your gear.

Kung mag HTIB ka naman, you will loose a bit of sound quality and dynamics compared to your existing set-up. Again, if you can live with that then go HTIB route.

You may also consider going somewhere in between - change your FS to BS, as they're more musical even at lower volumes. Surely, you'll loose some bass when you switch, but you can also explore a powered 8" sealed sub sometime in the future.

Pakiramdaman mo muna yung new environment mo and if you think its safe to change/add equipment slowly, then you'll have a better judgement of what to do.

Keep the set-up and let your neighbor drool over your gears and the sound it produces.. ;) Pag nareklamo ka ng mga katabing unit it only means na superb ang set up mo.. ;D tapos hinaan mo na lang pag kinatok ka na.. ;D ;D

Keep your current set up.  I'm 200% sure that you'll regret it when you opted for HTIB.  Your Receiver and player have settings naman for small room and nasa positioning lang yan ng speakers.

you might want to consider our ERA design or Highland speakers.  They are almost HITB size speakers but sound like floorstanders - well... almost hehehe
