Good, budget divx DVD player?
« on: Apr 19, 2008 at 07:09 PM »
Hello. First post ko ito dito.  :D

Anyway, I'm planning to get a DVD player with Divx playing capabilities since masyado na magastos para sakin mag author ng anime DVD's. Nakaka 150 blank dvd's ako in 1 month.  :(

I'm looking for a good Divx DVD player na sana 3.5k and below. I don't really need any other functions like karaoke, DTS, or stuff like that since ikakabit ko lang naman siya sa stereo component, but I'd prefer it kung may component output siya and USB port.

Any recommendations? I'm leaning towards Philips players since I've had a very good experience with them.

TIA.  :)

Try Pioneer DV-300-S which I have been using since last year.  So far, no problem with the unit.  Aside from regular DVDs, VCDs and audio CDs, it also reads DivX files.  I think I bought the unit for about 3.5K -- it might be cheaper now.  It's available in most appliance stores selling Pioneer products.

Yup, agree on this model. It used to retail at P4,290, but it's marked down to P3,790 now. Plays everything. 96/24. For audio, the sound is quite decent, but a dedicated cdp would still be advisable if you're into music as well, not just HT. As with other branded gear, it comes with a one year warranty coverage.

Has no USB port though, unless this is a major consideration.

good luck

thanks :)

Prepare for the HD world, i it so happens ur buying a dvd divx player, be sure it has a usb port so u can connect an external drive via usb and just choose and play ur movie files no need to burn and play dvd disc. The most important part is it should have hdmi output so u can connect via hdmi if you have a plasma or lcd flat panel. A better alternative is just buy a PS3. You can enjoy multimedia functions w/ the PS3. Its a game console, bluray player, multimedia player, internet browser, photo storage, etc.
