how about digital surround, dts decoding and subtitles via usb kaya rin po ba. Plano ko po kasi bumili nito and external HDD instead of NMT. Kung sa ganitong setup po kc may option parin ako na makapanood ng movie via dvd through HDMI.
kaya na po ba ma-recognize nitong pioneer yung mga large sized external disks via USB? say a 320GB ext hdd?

thanks.

Been using this (DV-610AV) as my CDP for my pure 2-channel audio setup. So far i'm impressed with its sound quality.  ;)

it's because, as with its predecessor the dv600... it may be using the burr-brown dac's too! it is one of the main differences as compared to its sibling, the dv400-series.

Interesting...is this confirmed?

The manual states that it has a "192Khz 24bit DAC". Although no confirmation if it is indeed burr brown.

Ok, I was able to find some details on the net confirming that both the DV-600 and DV-610 have Burr Brown DACS.

try changing the TV System setting to NTSC, if I remember correctly(check the manual Pionner has it's intricate way), here are the steps:
1)go to stand by
2)press forward button on front panel at the same time pressing the standby on system
3)Sequence is Auto-NTSC-PAL
4)Choose NTSC

Hopefully that will solve your problem. ;)

i just bought this player sa western and was surprised to see a noticeable improvement in picture quality from my nextbase dvd player using a standard av connector, seems to me  on par sya sa dvd capability ng xbox 360 ko na naka component. One question lang, di niya na recognize yung 500 gb kong HDD, what size kaya ng external HDD kaya nito? Thanks mga boss in advance!

I was surprised that the dv610 was able to recognize the 320GB WD external HD that I feed it to.  The movie and MP3s I tried played just fine.  However, there is an instance when I was playing a movie that the unit just stops working, it is totally unresponsive and wont even power off. I had to unplug the unit, after that, all is well again  ???  Im guessing, while it can handle the 320G hardrive, its buffer system can't handle that much data when used for a long time.  Remedied by firmware update perhaps?

Si Hakan lang yata ang may firmware ng 610.

Hakan's site contains 3 offical Pioneer 610 firmwares (YJC8602A, YJC8919A, & YJC8923A), plus the unofficial StM ("Smash the Mac") firmwares.  http://www.pioneerfaq.info/english/dv610.php?player=DV-610AV&question=Firmwares

Check your present firmware:

Go To: HOME MENU > INITIAL SETTINGS > OPTIONS (don't enter the submenu).  Press "DISPLAY" on the Remote Control.

You're welcome sir.

410 lang ang player ko, pero hindi ko pa rin na-try ang StM firmware ni Hakan para sa 410 ... takot ako, e.  ;D

Isang firmware lang ang kailangan mo, just choose the latest StM firmware.  Or piliin mo yung original YJC8919A kung mas luma doon ang orig firmware mo ngayon.

Maganda rin na info ang site na yan, interesting to know na meron palang nag-iisang Pioneer player authority sa net.  ;)

Thank you in advance for any response.

I upgraded mine last night using CP1251 (the latest) from this site http://www.pioneerfaq.info/english/dv610.php?player=DV-610AV&question=Firmwares.  I was motivated to upgrade because of this (promised) features:
  - Show all chars in USB mode.
  - Long file names in USB(JPEG preview in USB mode is not turned off)

Been using the dv610 to play mp3s from flash drive a lot lately and I am really annoyed that long filenames are not being displayed, so I took a gamble.  So far so good.

Note when upgrading:
Follow all the procedures in the site mentioned (e.g. cd label should be 'PIONEER'; the filename has to be all caps including BIN) BUT take note of the filename of the 'BIN' file.  My first attempt did work because I found out that my firmwares version name is 'YJG8919A' (not YJCXXXA).  I reckon file name should be the same so I just did a rename of the BIN file and all went good.

Good luck to those who will upgrade and remember that your warranty will be voided when you do this.  If you ask me I think it is safe and worth it though. :)

Mga sir,

ang pagkakalaam ko po. pag ang external nyo ay 2.5" no matter what capacity, mahihirapan syang ma play pero kung 3.5"HDD with external power supply e ma play nya ito. yung DV 610-K Black, available lang po sa middle east. Malapit na po dumating ang Stock nila. Ngayun po merun sila DV-420 black, then DV 620-K darating na bago.

Cheers ;D

its possible that the way your video was encoded is not match to the decoding features of your Dvd player.
remember, for  a pc you have to download codecs to be able your media player can read such avi/divx files.
