Another question... Can the BD player be modified so that it can play multi-region DVDs (and still play BDs)?

in due time magkakaroon ng hack codes yan to be able to play all DVDs. kaya lang at the price of the BD player now parang mas economical na bumili na lang ng isang Upconverting DVD player to play your DVDs  In this case, you will be able to preserve your BD lens  ;)

Yup, yun ang nanghihinayang ako, I can't play my R3 DVDs so di siya na-u-upscale, still play them on my old DVD player. How about po my other question regarding the USB port? May idea po kayo if there's a way for me to play/access jpegs and/or compressed videos using a USB drive or pang-software update lang talaga yung USB port ng BD player?

Thanks to all who keep answering this BD newbie's questions. :D

your old DVD player is still not upconverting? if no, i would suppose it is progressive. set it to progressive so it can at least output 480p, for me may improvement pa din vs playing at 480i. your connection from your old DVD to your LCD is by component cable (Green, Red, Blue) and not (Yellow, White and Red)?

about your question regarding USB port, I think is for updates and for BD-Live External Memory. Not sure kung kaya magplay ng compressed videos, maybe other members can help you on this  ;)

Yes, connected via component cable. Thanks for the tip, will have my hubby check out the settings and see if it can be set to progressive. :D
