Guys question lang on the mybook naman.  Do i need to format pa rin ba or it is pre-formatted already when it is out of the box?

i'm not a tech guy, but in my experience... FAT32 default file system won't accept 4+ Gb files. would suggest to format it into NTFS if you have plan copy bigger files...  :D HTH

True.  I already tried it.  Originally the drive is formatted for FAT32.  I had to reformat to NTFS so that I could copy files >4gig.

Im planning to get this player. I read on another thread that the egreat has an option to play movies w/o the black bars. Meron bang ganitong feature ang wdtv? I know this unit has a zoom feature, if you zoom it once would it fill the screen? Would the picture still look good or become worse?

Well true bro, kaso parang ang laki masyado ng mawawala sa sides ng image at lalabo sha if I use the tv zoom just like with a dvd with black bars. Di ba better na you zoom it from the source? ::)

if you zoom it in, the picture would not look as good as the original.

i'll check later but i know that the intermediate zoom of the wdtv to be 2x, making it somewhat useless.

IMHO, you'll lose 1/3 of the picture..  :( so, I prefer to watch w/ black bars than viewing an incomplete picture... ;)

Thanks sa replies mga sirs. :)

So is it safe to say there is no setting on the wdtv to play movies w/o the black bars except for the zoom only? ::) Hays, mahal kasi egreat.. :(

it's the same bro.
same output, same upscaling/downscaling lang ang gagawin ng internal scaler ng panasonic (to fill up it's native resolution)
that's why whenever im using another player (im using kmplayer, as my main player) i just set it to zoom1.
using kmplayer is easier bro since CTRL+Enter Key will auto fill the whole screen (sometimes, CTRL+ALT*or shift*+Enter Key depending on the movie's aspect ratio).  btw may manual controls din    ;)

I'd also prefer black bars with the normal aspect ratio than watch a stretched picture. In the same way I prefer widescreen to full screen versions. But it seems kanya kanya talagang preference.

Whats the cheapest soundbar w/ dts out there? I saw a Samsung Sound Bar 11.5T w/ optical & DTS capability. Home theaters are messy with wires. This is for my friend WDTV.

Well, before you write WD an email, may on-line form sila asking what kind of email are you writing & info regarding the product......including serial numbers. After you input what they need, then you compose na your email.

Giving him the benefit of the doubt.  Masisira bigla yon pagdating na ng bogus requests.  Isip isip mga kamember

Congrats, sir macdon!

Clarification lang:

Did you say that your original remote was defective?

Or did you simply ask if they could sell you another remote, without mentioning anything about the present condition of your original remote?

All I asked in my email is if they could sell me a remote - i was willing to pay since I cant control my WD HD including 2tb of files . I just said my remote was missing - which is absolutely true and i even have a police report to back it up if needed.

In the previous page of this thread, I asked publicly if a spare remote could be both locally. I called 2 dealers & the Phil distributor themselves if they could sell me one - unfortunately, they said that all remotes come in bundled with the set.
Thus my only recourse was to either buy a Harmony remote or contact the worldwide distributor - while, I didnt think that they could sell me one, nag bakasakali lang ako if they could help.

I posted the info above to show everyone na maganda etong kumpanya that we support, kasi it proved that they support us as well - the end users.

The posted info above shouldnt be taken maliciously in any form but if you have any legitimate concerns with WD, then its nice to know that there are still companies that go above & beyond. So please, I hope members in this forum will not abuse their generosity.
