I tested 5 titles in BD ISO format, all in 1080p,
The Expendables
Despicable Me
Salt
Inception
Iron Man 2

I found no fault in its playback, and I was really impressed with both its PQ and AQ...

What are the approximate filesizes of the BD ISOs?  23GB-45GB each?

Thanks!

Guys,

I'm fairly new with this media player,

Is my observation correct, kindly correct me if I'm wrong...

* best video files out there are in MKV and ISO format,
best in PQ and in AQ (coz sure na DTS or DD sya)
unlike the mp4 format na AAC ang audio format,..?

cheers,...

8GB~10GB is too small a file.

That's probably lower bitrate file just packaged into a ISO.

A real BD ISO would hit between 25~50GB.

Hi sir Hebrew...

WD TV Live ver. 1.02.21

Haven't upgraded my firmware yet, just tinkering around with the unit still....
Might not be as elegant as the other NMTs here, but it gets the job done...

cheers,..!

I'm looking for a WD TV Live at V-Mall, pero no stocks daw.

Meron sa Octagon Megamall, P5,990.  Siguradong old stock yon.  OK na kaya ang price?

Thanks!  Got WD Live from Listening Room Megamall, P5.5k cash price.

Slightly lower sana from Greenhills V-mall, pero walang stock.  Mahirap talaga sa stocks ngayon.  Sabi sa Octagon, matagal na raw walang WD deliveries kasi naipit sa customs ang shipment ... (na naman?  >:()

Howdo you get this kind of interface on you wd? I have a wd also but the old one, not the wd live. I have Mkv movies on it plus some avi. How does it work coz it only shows the name of the move and size. No pictures. Do I need to change it to wd live and will it work on downloaded Mkv movies and avi movies. I like the same setup of yours wherein you can see the picture if the movie.  Thanks

Easy lang yan sir.  Just get a picture from the web, then give it the same name as the movie file, except that the file extension should be "jpg".

For example, if you have a movie named "Inception.mkv", google "inception film wiki", go to the wikipedia site:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inception_(film)

Right click on the picture, click "Copy", paste it on the WD's hard disc, rename the picture file as "Inception.jpg", and that's it.

I recommend the movie poster rather than the DVD/BD cover.  The dimensions of the movie poster are more compatible with the thumbnail.  The DVD/BD cover is shorter; it's not going to look too good.

I forgot:

Set the WD's "video settings" to "thumbnail mode" para makita yung thumbnails.

sir, i tried it already but it doesnt work.  Does it work if my movies are in a portable hard drive coz im using a 320 gb hd connected directly to the usb of the wd.  Remember im not using wd live.  Its the old one.  Like social network.  Its social network.avi and social network.jpg.  Its still showing a disc as an icon.  I havent updated the firmware yet since i bought it like 1 year ago.

You'll have to update the firmware.

For the Gen. 1 version, the original firmware (version 1.00.01) did not have thumbnail support.  The capability was only added on firmware 1.02.00 (April 1, 2009), so you would not be able to show thumbnail pictures if your firmware is older than 1.02.00.

The latest firmware for Gen. 1 is version 1.03.01 (Nov. 9, 2009).

Don't worry.  The procedure works on both models.

My first WD TV was the Gen. 1, purchased in November 2008, the month when it was first released; my 2nd WD TV is a WD TV Live, purchased 2 days ago.  I've done it on both, and it works on both.

Pardon my ignorance sir but how do you upgrade the firmware. It's now 1.01.02.

First, make sure you know which WD TV version you have.  Gen. 1 is model WDAVN00; Gen. 2 is model WDBABF0000NBK.  I think the model number is printed on a sticker on the box.

It's confusing because most WD TV owners also refer to the WD TV Live as "Gen. 2".

But in reality, WD TV Live has a non-gloss gray body, while Gen. 2 has a gloss black body, exactly the same as the Gen. 1.  Both the Gen. 1 and the Gen. 2 have no networking capabilities.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WD_TV#Models

At any rate, if your current firmware is 1.01.02, then we can safely presume that you have a Gen. 1 model, since firmware version 1.01.02 is for the Gen. 1 model.

If you have the Gen. 1, go to this page: http://www.wdc.com/en/products/wdtv/

Firmware update instructions are found on the bottom of the page.

Also read the release notes:  http://www.wdc.com/en/products/wdtv/releasenotes/WDTVreleasenotes103.pdf

An important update that you don't have yet is the usb auto spin-down capability (v. 1.02.07).  The hard drive should spin down after about 10 mins. from power-off.  If you can feel the drive vibrating when you touch it, then it's still spinning.

Its really somewhat tedious sir,
and sometimes the WD won't even show the image,
what I did was I always put 2 or 3 jpeg files in its folder
para sya na ang bahala kung alin ang ipo-post nya,
I am just starting my collection, kaya medyo naiaayos ko pa.
Starting with 150 movies, and slowly growing,...

Good luck sir,...
