Zilch din ako sa Greenhills and Market Market.  :(.  Although merong display unit (it could be dummy) sa Abacus Comp.

What to do?  What to do?

Masiyasat na nga ng husto yung Mede8er kahit hindi cool yung kalakihan ng box.   ;)

Mede8er is exactly same dimensions I believe as the HDPro which I personally own, I believe the size of it isn't bothering, as long as it accommodates internal disk.  ;)

I got the remaining unit at Listen Up Glorietta.  But sold it the next day coz I preferred to keep my Xtreamer instead.  Even I was surprised that the Xtreamer was the keeper, coz lots of people have been selling their Xtreamer for the WDTV Live.  Oh well, personal choices :)

Reasons I didn't keep the WDTV Live:

- Price.  It was already more expensive to begin with, but I still need to spend a couple thousands more for a compatible 802.11N dongle (or find a cheap one that works even if it's not officially supported/tested by WD).
- Features.  The Xtreamer may be too techie, but it delivers more features that I personally need in the house (internal HDD, server features, volume control, more functional remote, nice packaged wi-fi antenna that doesn't stick out to the back like a dongle does, straightforward RCA connectors for audio instead of the AV connector in the Live, etc etc).

As you said, to each his own, depending on one's personal "checklist."  ;D

I brought both my WDTV Live and Xtreamer to a get-together of friends without really telling them my preferences. One of them already bought the Live, while another friend is considering the xtreamer.

Dun sa mga naghahanap pa rin nito at wala pang stock na makita sa malls, try nyo itong 2 possible sources na ito:

1.  Listening Room (or yung Listen Up branch nila sa Glorietta)
2.  TipidPC sellers (I think SoftBox has stocks now)

Although I think throughout this month dadami na ang available units nito sa mga computer stores sa malls.

Kahit pa binenta ko agad yung Live ko, I still believe it's a great media player, with one of the most polished GUI among all NMTs available today.  At ang ganda ng PQ at 1080p/60 with Deep Color ON.  Sana maging ganito rin ka-polished ang GUI ng Xtreamer, Cinematube, etc. in the next few months... we'll see. :)

Bro there is no problem with the egreat m34a unplugging USB device while on operation. Of course as long as you do this to the USB not being used  ;D

if it's a flash drive or external HDD, better to eject it first.

was finally able to buy an affordable USB wifi network adapter - Buffalo WLI- UC-GN model from Octagon Megamall. 1200 pesos. not bad considering the Linksys models are at least double the price.

world's smallest wifi 802.11n adapter as claimed by manufacturer.

it's one of the compatible adapters listed in the WD website. tried it with youtube and live365. save for some buffering issues with youtube, it streamed quite well. flawless with internet radio.

hope this helps those who are looking for a cheap wifi dongle. other compatible dongles available at megamall cyberzone were:

D-Link    DWA-125 (Php 1400)
D-Link    DWA-140 (Php 2700)
Linksys   WUSB100 (Php 2400 to 2700)
Linksys   WUSB600N (Php 3000 to 3600)

This is the most popular  wifi N adapter in Tokyo.  Very reliable signal and very fast.

The WDTV 1st gen and even the 2nd gen (not Live) have no network ports and network capabilities so I don't believe it will work....

I do recall some discussion regarding the use of either powered/non-powered usb hubs before - but cant seem to find it in the NMT threads. So my apologies, if this seems like a double posting.

Naturally, I am envisioning a third HDD and since our WD LIVE could only take 2, a usb hub would be a cheaper alternative to add more.
However, it seems both powered/non-powered hubs have been used with hit & miss results, so I was wondering if these hubs have something to do with either the brand of the NMT player or the brand of the HDD as well.

So, have anyone used a usb hub to both WD LIVE & WD HDD with success? What brand, where to buy & how much?

TIA ;)

will this work on a standard def tv..my dad has an old 32 inch matchline philips tv. I was wondering whether this would work or not.

Just curious.

NOTE /OT: I was able to use A-110 PCH before and I got it to work on sdtv.
