Was finally able to run the Audessey calibration today with no ambient noise. ;D

Audessey Results January 2, 2011

Room Dimension: 15.5 ft L x 10.9 ft W

Speaker Set-up
01 Front : Small (FL +1.5 dB); (FR +3.0 dB)
02 Center : Small (+0.5 dB)
03 Surround : Small (SL +2.5 dB); (SR +1.5 dB)
04 Subwoofer : Yes (+1.5 dB)
05 SW Mode : Norm
06 FL : 3.0m
07 FR : 3.1m
08 C : 2.6m
09 SL : 1.8m
10 SR : 1.9m
11 SW : 2.5m
12 Cr. Over: Adv
13 Cr. F : 80Hz
14 Cr. C : 100Hz
15 Cr. S : 40Hz
16 Cr. LFE : 120Hz

MULTEQ:
MultEQ: Audessey
MultEQ: Byp L/R
MultEQ: Flat
MultEQ: OFF

SVS Subwoofer settings before and during the calibration as follows:
Gain: 10.5 o"clock
Phase: 0
Crossover: 120Hz
Cossover switch: Disabled
Sub cable changed to a 1:1 connector.
Calibration locations: 6

4---5---6
----1----
3-------2

Results are better this time around. Had to increase the gainof the subwoofer from 9 o'clock to 10.5 o'clock to compensate for the increase of the decible level of the sub on the last calibration, which was at +4.0.

The PB12 is not as boomy any more and gives just the right sound needed for each particlar scene. Moreover, it does not stop just being a sub, but often times blends with the center, main and surround speakers...the total sound produced envelopes me, making me feel like part of the scene.

It seems like the sub is some kind of "support" to the speakers. Just when I feel that the sound of a particular scene has been heard, the sub gives a final say.

I love action films because of the separation of sound coming from the different channels of the speakers. I played Live Free or Die Hard...

...the scene when John goes to pick-up Matthew Farrell and everything goes chaos. The sound of the gunshots in this scene is jaw dropping. Very crisp and clear gunshots...every single shot fired, every bullets ricochet was clearly heard. Simply amazing.

Next in line...famous scene from the movie The Incredible Hulk...

...I cannot even begin to mention how this scene sounded on my HT. I was overwhelmed with the experience. The gunfires bright sound was backed-up with the bass coming from the sub givng a neutral sounding experience.

The harmony of the S series speakers with the PB12NSD is truly a perfect match. My HT has never sounded this good from the time I began this hobby. I am truly happy with this investment. If you are looking for speakers, I highly recommend SVS speakers. They are simply awesome. ;D

I agree brader Tirso. :) That is also one of the factors that led me to upgrade. Having done my current set-up, it gave our room more space in front of the bed - enough space for...say, a love seat LaZboy perhaps... ::)

But seriously...this is my very first set-up mounted on a wall and it looks really neat and clean. The effort and hard work setting this up this morning was all worth it. :)

(Impressions of the S-Series to follow)

Splendid job, brader Mart!  ;)

Are you planning on hiding/covering the L&R speaker wires or planning on going commando style? ;D
Also, if you can share with us your considerations for choosing the height of your wall-hanged SCS-01 speaker ;)

My current front speaker cables is a pair of Xindak SC-03 Cables. They are really thick and would be hard to hide/cover, so I guess I am commando on this one...besides, they are pretty nice speaker wires to look at. :P

As for the height of the SCS-01, I positioned the tweeter of the speaker at ear level. If I am sitting on the bed - which is most of the time my viewing position, my ear level height is 46 inches from the ground. So basically, the tweeter of the SCS is at 46 inches in height, while the center is at 42 inches, slightly tilted upward to achieve ear level position as well. :)

Announcement:

The 3 x SCS-01s I returned to Mike are actually .02 versions already - sans the metal grilles. Both mike and I have confirmed this thru the help of SVS.

So if you want to the avail the .02 versions now and at lower prices, better act quickly ;) The upcoming .02 stocks by Feb next year would be more expensive.
If you want to have 100% .02 versions - just buy metal grilles from Mike in the future.

Actually, you can mask those wires a bit - place your pb12 under the left speaker and another pb12 under the right speaker - voila!  ;D

Yup, great job on the speaker height - keep the tweets at ear level when seated  ;)

Well, its just an option..........at least now you have the space for it because you wall hanged your speakers ;)

Btw, if you decide to add a love chair, would you need to lower the L&R speakers a bit? If seated in a recliner, my ears are 42" above the floor line.

With a recliner...yes! I would have to lower the measurement to 42 inches, as I would suspect that the ear level height from a recliner would be slightly lower.

The nice thing about this speaker bracket is you can adjust the knob behind to tilt the speakers downwards at a certain degree for it to be at 42 inches, without having to bore more holes on the wall to adjust the height. ;)

funny you mentioned this bro.
pasingit nalang ng question ko bro marts ha, here it goes.
ok lang ba let's say 2 PB12, tapos 2 pair of bookshelf speakers nakapatong sa PB12

e.g.

  BS                                           BS
 PB12    -------- center  -------- PB12

Absolutely! Just place a "Subdue" under each BS speaker so it wont be affected by the vibrations of the sub box  ;)

I am not sure if it is advisable to place bookself speakers on top of the subs, since they tend to vibrate alot. Maybe if you wall mount the bookshelf speakers slightly above the subwoofer, that may work. ;)

Again, this is NOT an inexpensive way to conceal speaker wires... :D ;D :D ;D

If im not mistaken each SCS is about 18 lbs, so observe your brackets. I'd feel a bit safer if the max load of the bracket is at least 30 lbs.
