Now i know why M series was priced a higher than the S series ;D
everyday is a new day ... Its like im listening to different concerts everytime i play them again with the M series.
Very detailed pala talaga, if only mike had an onkyo receiver in demo room i might have skipped the S Series  :)

More power mike

long story short .. Synergy  ;)

aside from synergy may inherent character kasi yung mga speakers and limitations. However, to achieve this, dapat very capable yung receiver mo to drive the m series.

Naku bro, nothing is permanent in our audio journey. Parang ulam lang yan. Minsan nakakauyam kapag parepareho. Minsan gusto natin, maiba naman. Am I right? One important question is, may pambayad pa ba tayo? Ako kasi, baon na sa utang, hehehehe

So Jamy - how do you like the "M" series?

I finally got to hear the Ultra speakers - not bad! But for me, I still prefer the "M" :)

While purely subjective, I find the Ultras to be a tad bright for my liking. Im sure others will interpret this as "detailed", but how I wish svs retained their tweeter attenuating switch that the "M" towers had.
With 2 midranges and the additional 2 mid bass drivers, I could understand why svs went for a metal dome tweeter - but im really not a fan of metal domes.

Thank you kagawad. Really appreciate your thoughts on this. What got me hooked into SVS speakers in the first place was its neutrality, not to warm not to bright. I upgraded my SCS because for me, it lacks detail in the higher frequency region or yung "kalansing" na tunog. But with the MTS-01, I found what I was looking and still nandun pa rin yun neutral characteristic na nagustuhan ko sa SCS :)

Congrats on choosing the "M" series - it is indeed a different class of sound from the "S". But if you want more "kalansing" - then the Ultra speakers might just be your cup of tea!

Sir Weng, SCS 01s yung gamit ko dati eh paired with Denon 4310. Ngayon gamit ko, Onkyo 818 and Forte Audio Power Amp together with MTS and MCS 01s. SSS-02 gamit ko for surrounds

kaya pala. the 02 has more details in the highs dept but the M series for sure is better.

pinaghandaan ko talaga yun receiver bago ako nagswitch sa M.  tapos ala godfather pa si bro mike "ill make you an offer you cant refuse" ;D

bro Macdon, while watching adele and the kid in david foster 2011 (sino nga ba ito?) dun ko narealise yung difference nung M and S series.  mas maganda nga ang M pero kailangan ko pa gumamit ng ibang receiver para marinig ito.   mas marami rin detail pagdating sa higher frequency (surprisingly) :)

warm parin IMO ang M while S is neutral.  but onkyo and M for me is just right.  bro jao, wala parin stock nung cp :(

Jamy - choosing speakers is really subjective and your narrated experience is proof of that - ultimately, its your ears that needs to be satisfied so follow it.

There will always be many factors that would influence a speaker's character - equipment, setup, room acoustics, source material, etc. - so never expect the same exact sound that you hear in a store or Kapitana's living room to be the same in your room.
With regards to the S and M speakers, the S has a higher ohm and sensitivity than the M - so naturally it will be easier to drive. Ed Mullen of svs recommends using a power amp for the M series to bring out its best. Have you atleast tried this recommendation?

question for M-series owners.  Are the spikes' size proprietary or is it a generic size?  This is because I feel bad for Sir jao143 because I have the spikes, "coin" receivers, and speaker base mounts of his M towers, but it's missing 2 spikes and 3 "coin" receivers for the spikes.

I cant recall if adhered or bolt on - parang adhered lang ata. If so, you can use any generic spike just as long as the metal base will accept it. 1-1.5" diameter spike base would be adequate.

will do bro macdon, my room is just 10 sq. mtr. lang naman so OK pa at the moment.  been eyeing on some power amps in the market place kaso nga lang di kaya ng budget.  wala kasi installment eh ;D
laki siguro tulong maski stereo power amp lang ano :)
