Anyone tried the Surplus shop sa kanto ng Edsa tapat ng isang condo near the GMA Kamuning MRT station? I saw some Hi-fi equipment there nung naghahanap ako ng pre-fabricated screens for my kitchen windows. Hindi ko na nga lang napuntahan yung section kasi nagmamadali ako.
Bisitahin ko nga ulit this Sat. :)

Up ko na din dun sa question ko for a reputable shop where I can have our vintage akai amps restored.
I can stop speaking but I cannot so easily silence my thoughts...

could somebody translate please, particularly the red characters on the white circle. a recently acquired surplus amp has this sticker on its bottom. i'm sure the logo is a give away for surplus hunters.

thank you for the info sir gunblade977..
i'm assuming Torio Service "serviced" the unit and gave it their company signature to indicate OK condition  :)

hello mga sirs. tanong ko lang sana kung may mahahanapan din na surplus amps sa pier tulad ng powered mixers, na pwede pang professional application i.e. for an acoustic bar?

Hi Terii, long time no-hear from you. That's a heavyweight and very expensive I'm sure. Congratulations! how I wish something like that drifts to our islands. I had placed orders (for smaller items) at Hifido a couple of times since early last year but I was unlucky and always lose to European buyers.

POSTSCRIPT: I just checked Hifido. So, you're the buyer of B-2301 last week at 113,000 yen (over 1,000 euros). Including courier charge from Tokyo to Paris, I could be wrong, but your total cost for the B-2301 (37 kilograms) would be approaching (or over)2,000 euros for this unit?

Hello Sandawa, yes is long time
I have wavered between the Denon POA 3000 RG  and B 2301
Finally, I took the B 2301
http://www.hifido.jp/KWsansui/G0104/P0/A10/J/0-20/S0/C10-49717-52854-00/
B 2301 in France its rating is 1500 € over 2000 € depending on the general condition of the amp
Shipping to France is 45,000 yen by UPS and is the same price for the Denon
as I said long time ago on this forum, I prefer to buy directly in Japan
it costs less to me, it bothers me not that it is 100 volts
requires a very large voltage transformer
But the Denon POA 3000 RG is also interesting

What's good is that we're sure that Japan-brand 100v units were made of superior quality, unlike Japanese 120v or 220-240v units that are likely with inferior parts inside. By the way, there are vintage Japan domestic models of Accuphase and Luxman, originally in 100 volts, that have internal (transformer) adjustments for 220-240v.

Hi Terii,

The internals look more like the alpha907 series than the AU-X series -- four primary power caps plus two more on the side but smaller in size. Beautiful front face. I noticed B2301's price at Hifido is increasing. The other day, Hifido was offering another unit at over $1,500. Acquisition cost of that unit could escalate to $2,500 for European, or American buyers. Congratulations again!

Hi! I'm new here in the forum, but a long time lurker lol. I recently bought a Pioneer SA 8800 at a local surplus shop but I'm kinda confused when I saw these pics:

1. http://audio-database.com/PIONEER-EX...sa-8800-e.html

2. http://www.hifiengine.com/manuals/pioneer/sa-8800.shtml

My question is, are there two versions of this model? and which one is better? The first pic resembles the Pioneer SA 7500  ???

dieseldust,

Yes, there are two versions of Pioneer A-8800, the Japanese and the US models. The US model looks better though with power meter window and blue fluoroscan. However, I'm one who believes that Japanese domestic units in general are more superior compared with Japan-brand units sold abroad including those in the US. That's because the international models were meant to compete in the mass market where quality is often sacrificed for looks. IMHO, however, the better Jap domestic unit comparable and probably even better than the US SA-8800 fluroscan model is the SA-8800II, which has two separate transformers likely with enough headroom to reproduce more accurately those low notes.

seanongpogi,

I'm hesitant to reply to your query since I'm not a 'master' and I haven't owned an M-73. But since no one was answering, the easy way for me to make a decision when confronted by this problem is to look at original and resale values available online.

The original price is here:
http://www.audio-heritage.jp/PIONEER-EXCLUSIVE/amp/m-73.html

Look here for time series used price:

Totoong totoo pa rin kahit anong consumer electronic item and kotse.  Especially now na sobrang bagsakan ng presyo ang labanan sa US.
