I visited pier this morning, while looking around for an amp and cd player, I came across a similar ONKYO amp posted by sir BGI_VI. Kaya lang the label shows 100W below the analog meters and no model number indicated in front. Sighted new items were Victor AX-Z911 going for 4K, Sansui AU-D907X, Sony 333ES's different extension from what I got, NEC A-10 Type III, Onkyo 54s, Kenwood Trio 7300, 8700, etc., Sony/Pioneer amps wtih ProLogic and an Alpine/Luxman LV-103.
Anyway, I came home with a SONY 333ESXII amp (previously reserved) and an Onkyo C-200 cd player. My problem now are the speakers. I already have a Sansui AU-D607 and a SONY CD player, also from pier. Reading from other posts, they said that it is better to overpower your speakers than underpower them. Tendency of damage to speakers if underpowered is higher than the amp. I'm thinking Diamond 8.4 or from the Buy & Sell section an AE 109 selling 10K. Somebody from another thread said that the power rating for the Sansui I have is 85wpc. What would happen if I connect a pair of 50W old speaker from an old stereo component? How about for Sony 333ESXII, would somebody know the power rating for this one? At the back panel of the Sony, 345W of power consumption is indicated.
I'm just a newbie in this hobby, I've been reading your posts daily and have been very much influenced, informed and educated.
BTW, I also have a Sakura 387 amplifier for my budget HT setup and a Rongxin 89DV 5.1 speaker set. I would like to upgrade this to Diamond wharfs that's why I'm considering the 8.4 for my stereo setup.
Any suggestion is highly appreciated.
Thanks
