what pre-amps ang ma suggest niyo na maganda for surplus?

These surplus amps can stand on their own just as they were designed to do, there is really no need for external pre-amps as it will just add to a longer signal path. But then if they have this "power amp main input" and "pre-amp output" jacks, then you may try other preamps, just disconnect the amp's preamp and connect an outboard one.

you may try another amps' pre-amp out or if you have a tube pre-amp like the Tono, then you may try it.

I am trying to audition various pre-amps, now specifically for tubes.  I also wanted to hear a SS pre-amp and what would be the sound effect in my tube power amp.  I am now finding out that some tube pre-amps lacks the "presence" factor over others when hooked over my tube power amp.  Im trying to find the best combination.  All combos possible and no bias over any equipment so as to make it a fair game.

Bro got a 1974 Onkyo Integra A-755 MK2 for 2k a few weeks ago. another wiredstate member (TA-F333ESG) had the same amp driving
his b&w 602 S2 using rotel cdp as transport. mine driving a kefq1 and nad cdp. true vintage amps can outclass most entry level avrs. I had the pleasure of owning a denon 1604, harman kardon 2550, rotel rsx 965, yamaha dsp a1 and this vintage amp outlass both denon and harman in 2 channel. pretty much close to the rotel in terms of dynamics.

Last weekend I hooked a trod musika pre-amp in this baby and boy it was nirvana  ;D.

if I were to get a SS amp, it would be at the pier and not in any audio shop having prices more than 20k.

However, a good dedicated pre-amp is what I am looking for, mapa tube or ss.

I can not justify using a pre-amp 7X the cost of my surplus amp  :'( If you can find a good surplus dedicated pre-amp then that's more justifiable in terms of cost.

Maybe the surplus guru's here can recommend a good dedicated pre-amp found in pier

Yup, my NEC-A10II has MAIN-IN (for separate implementation) - so it will not be long signal path for me, only different signal path!  ;)

If you were based in Davao, you could easily audition several good vintage preamps that are available here. On a good day, you can get classic SS preamp models as low as P1.5K. Normally, price ranges from P2.5K to P3.5K per unit for good vintage preamps. Here are links to two units that are available from a surplus dealer here:

Kung meron nyan dito sir, naka display na sa shelf ko. May nakita ako last week Pioneer A-900, P6K, medyo mataas sa appraisal ko since original Japan price is only 135,000 yen. Also available is Yamaha M-50 power amp, again overpriced at P7K, considering it's an international model (240v) not a Japan 100v premium unit.

Due to personal biases and subjectivity I would rather post pictures. To me if doesn't sound good or up to what I like - tweak.

mga sir,
I've just bought  A Victor midi compo  last week... it has 3 CD changer and 2 midi disk deck. I would say still good buy ' coz swabeng swabe pa rin yung tunog niya, especially pag yung midi disk ang gamit.
my question is meron pa bang nabibili na midi disk para dito.. have tried to look sa mga SM rcord bar and they said  di na raw available.

thanks

Guys, just got this: Denon PMA830  :)

Took pics while I was cleaning the inside

I think this weighs around 18 kilos. All-discrete components. Even the volume pot was a big ALPS (I think its 2"x2"). The toroidal transformer is bigger than a CD. It also has a switch for Class A or Class B Operation, and a direct switch to bypass all tone controls.

Search ko pa sa net ung specs,

We still have minidiscs here in Davao, I think. Two years ago I was buying sealed minidiscs at only P80 each. Last time I bought last year, the remaining shops that sell it quoted P120 each. I don't know how much it is now but I'm sure we still have a few dozens in local shops.

The label on the equipment and on the casing itself says MD, but the correct term is minidisc. Unless the one being referred to is the MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) disk used by professionals in recording.

:) Thanks. Maganda pa talaga ung unit, nilinis ko lang ng konti ung loob, kasi hindi pa nagagalaw talaga. Cosmetically, i'll rate it 9 out of 10. Tried it already-everything works perfectly. Sweet-sounding, not much ss amp signature.
Meron pa dun Pioneer SA8800-II, but I opted for the Denon.
