There have been lots of audiophiles with the same reaction digitalwise esp with the advent of the new format (dsd). Unfortunately, like most new formats the selection of music is still very small. Though hi-res is getting very popular lately with a reasonable selection.
This is what totally stopped me from going analogue altogether.

I like computer audio for the convenience of remote controlling digital files from anywhere in the room and if you succeed in mixing and matching the right components - both hardware & software, you may even attain what most digital sources aim for - the analogue sound.  Good luck on your search.

Thanks John, I do hope I come close... Close enough would be good enough for me since the funds are limited. So much dac is flooding the market lately and I am sure there would be one that ill fit your needs.
From what I have been reading the w4s dac2 would be similar to the bel canto with a different flavor. In case you want to hear it in your system, let me know... Either I arrange a home audition or I can bring my unit for you to try.

It would be nice to compare the 2 DACs Sonny.  Would like to hear DSD material as well. Do swing by when you can. My system's still the same, only thing new is a wider selection of fine sounding LP's.

Still not dsd capable but I'm certain I can drop by one of these days with the dac2. Will text a day in advance.

The review link says it all. Please read thru it. My experience is the same but my experience may not be the same as yours, YMMV.  But one thing for sure, it wil not be a negative result.

Since a loaned W4S ulink is the one connected to my system, only a slight improvement was percieved. I still have to purchase my own converter, and it will be an iLink. Am very happy with the iUSB purchase.  A friend experienced a night and day result......

I would like to say the review is not very convincing, but i would rather test it on my unit instead. Now while it only cost two clams, I might just wait for the dac2 upgrade to come out first before I spend more clams which I already have none... Lol.

Just one thing..... If your gear is high end, most probably you wont need it.
