Caught the first episode of this new British conspiracy thriller TV series that centers on a graphic novel called "The Utopia Experiment," which is rumored to have been prophetic and accurately predicted major worldwide disasters.
When five people from an Internet chat forum decide to meet and talk about a yet unpublished part 2 manuscript of the graphic novel that one of them managed to obtain, all of them are soon targeted by "The Network," who are hellbent in getting the manuscript back.
The first episode was great, and has a strange, unique look with its bright colors and slow zoom camera pans, almost like a Wes Anderson movie but with menace in the air. There's also a gruesome torture scene towards the end, which is definitely not for everyone--the scaredy-cat that I am, I looked away, heh.
Utopia started last January 15, 2013 on the U.K.'s Channel Four and is slated for a 6-episode run. With
Fringe gone, I need some dose of strangeness and this looks like a good replacement; I hope I won't be disappointed.
