I've already have 5 episodes kaso ilang beses ko pang inulit yung first buti na lang nakakuha ko ng subtitles. Hirap intindihin ang sinasabi ng Brits!

This is one of the best new shows for me this year--it's basically CSI: Whitechapel 1889, but also with good writing and exceptional performances by the cast. Matthew Macfadyen, last seen on the big screen as one of The Three Musketeers, provides a commanding presence as his true-to-life character, Detective Inspector Edmund Reid, and he's ably supported by an outstanding cast as well.

I really like the way the production went all out with the details; from the sepia tones to the costumes and props. The cockney accents are unavoidable--it is the East End after all, but they're quite easy to understand.  ;)

Are these really heavy cockney accents?

Nope. The three leads all speak straight English. Matthew Macfadyen is known for his low, suave and ultrasmooth voice ala Richard Armitage, so he can be clearly understood. Jerome Flynn sometimes uses cockney slang, but has no strong accent, while Adam Rothenberg's character is an American, no there's no accent at all. The cockney accents can only be heard from minor supporting characters, most probably to add to the atmosphere, and they're not that hard to understand.

Just finished the 3rd season; still really good, with first-rate acting and writing. So glad this has been renewed for a 4th and 5th season.
