If you still prefer an LED TV:
Continue with your research, nothing beats a well-informed consumer. Once you have narrowed down your LED TV choices, I suggest you test all of them in SnS. You can ask the staff to turn off the lights in the store's home theater demo area- I'm sure this is a reasonable request which they would be happy to accommodate, considering you were not happy with the LED TV you purchased in the first place. Use a movie's dark scene you are familiar with (the better if you will bring your own BD, DVD or NMT) so you can evaluate the backlight bleeding. You're all set to go; it's just a matter of choosing which brand or unit with less bleeding (or preferably none at all) that would be acceptable to your discriminating taste.  ;)

Welcome to Sights and Sounds. Come to our shop and do some audition. Look for Arthur or Johnjohn for assistance. :)

buti nalang yung nabili kong tv (just last week)(sony edge lit 40 inches) bnew, sa mall, na halagang 26k lang ay may warranty, walang backlight bleeding.

ok mga bagong technology ni sony.

SONY kasi.
kasabay nabili yung sony and samsung, yung sony ko buhay pa till now.
iba talaga pag siguro forte ng isang brand yung minamanufacture nya.
mas mahusay at mas matibay.

at kung bibili ng tv, i would recommend to buy it kung saan may RESIBO at may WARRANTY.

im on a hunt last week sa isang tv.
led o plasma.

maybe you should try purchasing SONY brands than LGs and SAMSUNGs.
japan kasi ang SONY e. mahusay.

SONY is a overrated brand, last year their 2012 hdtv(HX series) are much expensive than their rival(Samsung Series "8") where much of the A/V critics praise the series 8 of the sammy. But now their 2013 HDTVs prices are much competitive nowadays but they still got bad reviews from A/V reviewers hahaha..funny isn't it?

nyahaha. yan may fanboy na. wala sa brand yang bleeding. Kahit pa Sony yan, magkakaroon din ng bleeding yan kahit pa Japan-made. kahit sa AVS forum, madami issues with backlight bleeding sa 2013 Sony models. Madalas ko tingnan yung W802 thread ng Sony and may mga complaints about bleeding.

Mukhang ang mas konti na nakitaan ko ng issue on bleeding for 2013 models eh yung sa Samsung.

Sa experience ko Sir, most noticable bleedings sa Underworld Rise of the Lycans, almost walang day scene yun, puro night scenes, dyan ako bwisit na bwisit kasi namumuti na yung black portions nung movie.

Hope this helps

Sir Philip, pwedeng gamitin lahat ng movies sa Underworld quadrilogy, all of them have dark scenes that you use to check the LED TVs you are eyeing for possible bleeding.  Isa pang movie na pwede: Dark City

Id go with this honestly. I was very happy with the black levels (although still no match for plasma's) and the absence of backlight bleeds with my Samsung EH series LED.

The only reason i upgraded to an edgelit LG 42LM6200 was because of 3D, dual play, and affordability.

Mas ok na sa akin ang bleeding issue of leds, compared sa issues ng plasma.. may burn in, ghosting, others may blob issue pa.. kanya kanya lang siguro :)

Madalas din kasi ang inuman sa place ko, and most request na may video concert or victorias fashion show playing while theyre in my house, ok lang kasi tipid sa kuryente. Though plasmas offer great black levels, acceptable naman for me yung napili kong led :)

Boss,

When i see plasmas and leds sa mall side by side, similar glossy finish ang screen nila, so assumung same position mo ilagay ang led, similar glaring effect din yun similar with your plasma?

Yung lower model ng EH series ng Samsung last year half glossy/half matte.

wala yata talaga perfect na tv mapa plasma or LED.  LED - bleeding,  plasma - reflective, glare.

the best we could do is find something na angkop sa paglalagyan at paggamitan natin.
