oo bro, ginamit ko ung ready mix na masilya. mas maganda pumili ng plyboard na smooth ang surface para konting masilyahan nlang and at least 3/4" ang kapal para d na kelangan bracing sa likod.

Bro pareho tayo projector diba? Yung kinuha mo bang plywood yung normal? (8x4)? So gaano kalayo yung PJ mo sa screen?

My first attempt was  a white flat wall. Hmm..could better. 2nd it was guesso paint (it's a primer paint used in canvas painting) that I bought at the art section of national bookstore. I got this idea on a DIY website pero mahal din yung paint lalo na kung mga 120" yung area. Tried it pero not stisfied. Then after doing more research I found out that the material should not be reflective o makintab. I found a material at an upholstery store na parang white leatherette (hope spelling is ok) PERO I used the back side of the material. Parang nag absorb siya ng light instead of reflecting. For me it looks great. I bought it for 50.00/yard. If I still remember the name correct...it's K4 or something). Then I Constructed a 4" aluminum frame and wrapped it with black material (yung pambalot sa speaker boxes na parang carpet).
I have a friend who bought a 96" screen for 24k .He tried this material first then the later then returned the the 24K screen back.

Screengo is a paint projection screen  and its available here in the Phil.  I have inquired about this already. It's not cheap, there estimate for a 90 inch screen is 8,000 plus.  Their number is 5840000 and their showroom is at 5 ideal st, addition hills, mandaluyong.  Hope this helps.

Sir AlvinladeN I posted this last March,  reposting it for you.

Sorry for upping this ancient thread.

Anyone know where I can get a high gain projection screen? I'm looking at 75" diagonal, 1.43:1 ratio.

Also regarding the DIY route: if I buy some blackout cloth and plywood, do you think my local upholstery store can make the screen for me? Don't have the time to make this. But I am in dire need of a projection screen cause my wall sucks (light blue and was painted by an amateur... you can see some thick portions of paint). I tried putting up a pure, white, cotton blanket on the wall and the change in picture quality was amazing! Can't wait to see what I'll get with an actual projection screen.

there are now projection screens in cdr-king. 72". i bought an electronic screen from them for 4.9k, but cannibalized it to use the tubular motor for automatic horizantal masking for 2.35 viewing on my fixed screen.

I was planning on buying from them as well. The 72" one seems perfect for me as my screen's size is 72" diagonal (60"x42", 1.43:3 ratio). But I don't know about the quality of the projection screen itself. I went to The Brain in Virra Mall and they had a Da-Lite and ClearView screen there. I was interested in getting the ClearView 60"x60", but they didn't have the specs of the screen. Same goes for the Da-Lite. They didn't even know what model they had there.

Anyone else know where to get screens? I'm seriously considering the DIY route now. You know, blackout cloth + plywood panels. Pretty cheap and I heard it's pretty good. I'm not bothered with using matte white at this point since my projector is DLP + LED. Really, really good contrast ratio compared to the 3LCD + UHP and DLP + UHP commercial projectors I've seen. So no need to go gray for me.

P.S. To the DIYers here, what is the width of the panels of your DIY screens? I'm considering just a 2" width and 0.75" thick plywood panel. Is this good enough to hold the stapled blackout cloth together?

Just sharing my DIY screen with motorized horizontal mask. I've used styrofoam covered by black felt paper as borders.

16:9 screen

2.40 screen

I've used cabinet sliders placed on both ends of the mask to slide up/down the mask, and attached nylon strings that the tubular motor rolls up to bring up the mask or loosen up to bring the mask down.

This is the tubular motor with limit settings. It also comes with a remote control with 3 buttons up/down/stop.

Thanks, guys!

I've been toying with this idea for a long time, and it's great to have finally done it.

If I can be of help to anyone, just pm me  :).

For my next project, I have this another idea, which I would appreciate anyone who can help me. This needs some knowledge on electronics. I'm a programmer but electronics is not my forte. I've been using xbmc for linux as my htpc front-end. I think I can put some patches into xbmc that would send data either to usb or serial port indicating the aspect ratio of the movie that is about to play. What I'd like to do is to build a circuit that would have the data I sent to usb or serial port as input and use it to control a relay switch attached to the controller of the tubular motor, and automatically bring up or bring down the mask depending on the aspect ratio of the movie. There might be some electronics folks or computer engineers out there who can assist me in building this circuit. Thanks in advance  :).
